What an absolutely beautiful lady! Even though she died 9 years before my birth she is probably the most beautiful woman I have ever seen! Laurence Olivier was a very very very very lucky man!

I like this video because she isn’t tied with Larry. and there are some photos of Vivian and Jack. Jack deserves the respect of Vivian’s fans. He never hurts her. His love, patience and kindness gives Vivien so much comfort after her divorce.

What an extraordinary life. I don't know if her talent was the only thing that matched her beauty. I think she still rates the single best performance in GWTW in motion picture history. I wish there was treatment for bipolar back then to ensure a less torturous life. I revere her talent as an actress as many did with 2 Oscars and 1 Tony, and 1 BAFTA. She succumbed to a physical and mental illness that plagued her at the age of 53.

Wow, too cool, thanks for sharing. How is it that one of the greatest actresses of the London stage gives two of the best screen performances of all time?!? Yesterday, I watched “Streetcar” for like the 12th time….then turned on TCM (here in Panamá), they were showing GWTW! What a treat!

Maybe the best way to explain one of the major paradoxes of Vivien Leigh's life is to quote from one of the New York paper's review of "Gone with the wind," which, in essence, stated that Miss Leigh is so talented that she need not be so beautiful --- and vice-versa. All of these pictures are wonderful, but I'm especially touched by the one of a more mature "Scarlett" and "Rhett" taken, I'm guessing, in the early-50s. A belated thanks for all the effort you put into searching out and posting these pictures.

My Mother met Vivien Leigh , during her tour of Australia. I have asked Mum to repeat the story many times over the years. When they met at a garden party. My Mother said that Vivien was very small , and when she smiled , that she became Scarlett, and she was so beautiful.

I believe I am correct in saying she had one daughter from her first marriage with Leigh Holman, Susanne, who is now deceased (2015) and became Mrs. Robin Farrington. Her husband predeceased her in 2002 and they had three children, all boys. Vivien Leigh was a step-mother and had a close relationship with Tarquin Olivier, Sir Laurence's son. Tarquin has spoken of this relationship and I believe you can watch clips on KZread. Tarquin and Suzanne were also close as step brother and sister. I believe Tarquin is in his mid eighties, now.

I'm glad to come across someone else who has that opinion. When she won her first Oscar, I have read he wanted to jerk it out of her hands and hit her over the head with it. That's love????? I think, then, he decided consciously or unconsciously he would show her who the great actor was. And that was destructive to her in so many ways. Why was she so obsessed with him?

  • @icebabe75

I also believe that hadn't she not met him she would have pursued a fantastic filming career rather than being absorbed by the idea that she would need to follow in Olivier's steps in theater just to be like him. However their love was also great and passionate and she chose it. She could have done another way but it was her choice and she was happy with it. The problem with artists in general is that they are more self centered that the regular non artist people. It's difficult for them to accept that someone else, close to them, get more light. And after all Vivien Leigh had some of the most prestigious characters in the cinema industry during the golden age of Hollywood, so...

Gosh, I wish they would've gotten together in real life. I love Laurence Olivier but Vivien & Clark were the most beautiful couple in cinema history. Just out of curiosity, how did you know that he visited her?
