I like Firehawks but I have always dynamically balanced wheels when I worked at a tire shop. We never static balanced unless the customer was adamant about it. Anything over an ounce of weight at a specific location and we took it apart and check the rim first then switch out a tire. Any tire that took more than an ounce of weight was sent back to the manufacturer as being no good.

Thanks for another great video. My C5 needed tires when I bought it a Lil over a year ago. I did a little research and found a lot of good reviews about the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500’s. Do I put a set all the way around I have put about 15,000 miles on them since purchased and have been pleased with them 100%. They didn’t look quite as good as the eagle F1’s that were on it from the side profile But I got them real cheap through a friend that has a tire shop. I went with stick C5 size. I would like to go a little wider in the rear next time. Also tell your tire shop that when they mount your tires that that the yellow dot on the side needs to be lined up with the valve stem on the rim. That is why the dot is there or so that’s what I was told by several tire shops around here.

Thanks for the comment. I should have mentioned the dot = the light spot in the vid! and that should be lined up with where the TPMS is on the rim. I noticed the shop got both of mine pretty close - but not exactly on the stem. Something to ask for for sure when getting them mounted!

Does anyone know how to safely remove the plastic chrome plated center caps on The Magnesium wheels? A wire spring type clip surrounds the plastic cover. Not sure where how to pry or push out from back? Thanks! This is a 2002 Mag Polished chrome

Not sure if it is the same cap as the alloy rims in this video. If it is, I always use a piece of wood about 70% the diameter of the cap, center it from the inside of the rim and gently push out allowing the cap to land on something soft. Plastic gets brittle with age - so I am super careful!!

I'm in need of new tires. I'm interested in as wide as possible as I'm wanting the car to stick while cornering. I've heard about a square set up and the C6 larger wheel update. What IS the best set up to gain maximum traction in the corners. I've heard the stock wheel/tire size is the best design from the engineering standpoint. Also with the skid pad results GM shows. I'm concerned about fit and rubbing. Also I hope to upgrade to all 4 wide body fenders to accommodate wider stickier tires. And I've done a quick check at a local wheel tire shop and he said he had difficulty getting matching tire tread for 17/18" wheel combination. I want all the same tread pattern front and rear. WHAT IS THE CORRECT SET UP FOR MY Z06? HELP PLEASE, IM DYING HERE.😅😮😢 Signed Roadracer sick of waiting.

How do you like the steering response on these tires? I’ve gotten a few sets of Nitto over my years and I’ve never really been impressed w them. I had some R888s on my z06 when I bought it and the steering response was insane and going from that to 555g2s has left me wanting more. I feel a good delay with steering and it’s kind of annoying. I can feel the sidewall flex on the tire and figuring that the delay or almost some slop w the steering that wasn’t there before. Stock wheels also but I plan on getting another set of wheels in 22.

Q: Am shopping for my C5 ‘Vert I hope to buy near end of this year or 1st Qtr next year. Am getting just a stock C5, and want to possibly cam/exhaust headers/heads someday, but probably not go forced induction. Car will be my daily and see a combo of city/Hwy driving. Am disabled (bad back) so want the most comfy ride quality and as quiet a car as possible. Also, the best value tires so I don’t spend a fortune since relatively fixed income. Need to know how much money to set aside for new tires in case my purchase needs this. Do you have any tire recommendations? And, run flats or not? I carry a tire repair kit, compressor, Fix-a-flat, etc. Thank you for any thoughts or suggestions.

Hi, I would ditch the run-flats for sure. Tire type depends on if you drive much in cold weather (below 50F or so) or ever in snow/ice.
