As a drummer I know we can be snobs and pop off hundreds of names of guys who are much technically superior, but Barker just makes drums damn fun and to me that's what it's all about!

A lot of times people forget that just because you're watching him play a punk song that thats his top bar. Travis Barker can probably play a lot of the 'more technical' stuff a lot of people say he can't. A Jon Bonham or Neil Peart solo wouldnt sound good in a Blink or Transplants song. I'm sure he could get down with them though.

FlamesRS : Exactly!! Travis being so talented, for him to decide to join and stay with a punk rock band means he’s enjoying it ! Loves punk rock music ! I’m sick of ppl bashing a great drummer because punk rock drum tempo doesn’t seems technical enough for em ‘ . Travis is one of the very few able to make punk rock drums sounds special! Same thing goes for Byron McMackin ! Yes .. some punk rock bands are just talented enough to create a hook as a song then call it a day.. but lots of punk rock bands/artists are so underrated based on the music style !!

I used to be one of those guys that never thought much of Travis. After reading an article in Drum magazine, my perspective of him completely changed!!! His talent goes way beyond what he plays for Blink. Plus what slot of others don’t realize is he was in drum corps for years and he incorporates a lot of that in his playing. Most don’t recognize it! You can tell by the way he holds his sticks how disciplined he was/is!!! I used to think he just had bad technique!!! And let’s not forget his endurance and intensity!!! How many other guys his age are out there playing like this and can maintain that day in and day out??? My hats off to him!!!

I get what your saying but at the same time the drumming on all the pre Travis stuff can be pretty bland. It's the same beat, the same fills, the same tempo for nearly every song. Where Travis might not play at blinding speeds he's super creative and has created an iconic drum beat or fill on basically every record he's ever made

It's not like they completely got away from that sound, they just sprinkled in the faster songs here and there instead of giving you a whole album full of it. Dude is an absolute monster and his creativity when it comes to percussion makes Blink 182 the legends they are. I feel like haters just listen to Dammit (his version is so much better than Scott's), What's My Age Again, and All The Small Things and pretend he's just a basic pop punk drummer.

Look. Say what you want about travis. But the dude shreds on a 3 piece kit. Has a ton of fun. And plays so fast that you'd have to beat your knees off just to understand what it means to be alive

If you're referring a five-let to be like a triplet or something, the right term is quintuplet. Unless five-let is the right term and I've just made a fool fo myself.

He scares me on the same level as the best prog and metal drummers out there. I still can't fathom how he keeps going that fast and hard without slowing down and missing even a single beat. I have no respect for punk drummers because they tend to be absolute garbage but he is a shining, sweaty exception.
