All you need to do is this: Do. Not. Stop. Practicing. You. Will. Get. It.

You guys at the Scratch Academy got your information wrong. I CREATED THE BOOMERANG SCRATCH. I named it I showed it to Qbert and gave him tips on how to do it. This was way back in the nineties back when Qbert lived in D.C.Daly City" I REMEMBER THIS LIKE IT WAS YESTERDAY". Please fix this mistake you've made. You know I Invent cuts but expect to get the credit for them to. Yall can do my cuts all day just as long as credit is given where credit is due. I'm renaming it the "FLARE BOOMERANG". So there will no mistake to where that cut and all my past present and future cuts I make come from. Thankyou Scratch Academy and please help in alleviating this situation. Peace Dj Flare

Nah bro, I invented the boomerang back in the 80's and kept it a secret until I met Q early 90s. Put some respekt on my name.

start with the fader on, as opposed to off as DD is doing here, its just a fast 2 click on the fader with 3 moves on the record, or 4 clicks/6 moves. good luck, if you haven't already mastered it.

I just practiced this for the days the wrong way. I wasn't changing direction for the one click flare. It still works but now I'm relearning this because it's way funkier

@djnothin I'm a bitter old schooler. I had the flare down pat in 89' That was before they had the new faders with the quick curves. I really didn't think anything of it. I was tearing it up. Q came along with the crab and much more. He would rock his up and downs all the way up so the crossfader would cut in quicker. So he was the first cat I saw doing this before the new faders. When Dj Flare coined it I was like WTF I had something. oh well. '

@DjMikeTofCMW I agree as far as the crazy names of scratches. Back in the day we were doin a lot of these and didn't put titles on them lol but you cant hate on the next man for at least getting into it and trying to learn techniques. It still comes down to, you have it or you don't. I always say, DJ'in chose me, I didn't choose it. I've seen alot of kats learn all these scratches but still suck cuz they don't have timing, rhythm, and just an understanding for music.

djnothin and don’t forget being funky. 99.5% of all these technical scratchers have 0% funk. When you have no funk it all starts to sound like noise.

@Gocha18 try concentrating on doing 2 clickers (open-close-open-close-open), just like a 2 click flare, but instead of doing one forward movement on the vinyl as per a 2 click flare, you move the record 3 times. its a smooth flow, dont concentrate on the closed sections of the fader movement, this inhibits the ability to get the fast speed. dont do 3 sounds, then pause, then another 3 sounds, its gotta just be a continuous fwds-bkwds record movement, no pauses. look at reverseheavens Q video.
