Little context for those wondering what the clip in the background is all about. Officer in the clip was training those soldiers for Afghanistan, and pretty much at last minute he was told he is not going with his boys there, so he snapped, as he felt like father sending his own children to war and not being able to be there with them where inevitable hell breaks loose. Helplesness of experienced and traumatized war veteran being unable to do anything for his sons anymore...

How about the religion of Islam, did the Afghans just become Muslim or did the Arab conquests have something to do with it? The Turks and Mongols; they all ran the place for centuries and their decline had nothing to do with Afghan resistance. And several empires like the Mughals were actually based out of Afghanistan. To be fair; that's kind of a messed up way to go. Getting air dropped behind enemy lines, get told to hold an objective until reinforcements arrive - they never do. Hold out until you're eventually overrun and get wiped out. Whole war has been a stupid waste of life.

@@andreivaldez2929 The initial part of the invasion was a massive fuck up by Russia, but right now, they are doing relatively well. Nevertheless, their progress is minimal due to fierce Ukrainian resistance, but as of now, Russia has the upper ground in the Donbas.

@@darkmemes953 That doesn't mean much. I'd expect the Russians to do well in a part of the country where they've been occupying for 8 years.
