Fun fact: this mission is the only mission in the Modern Warfare where the character you're playing as speaks Edit: lemme set the record straight. The people saying "Oh, YuRi SpEaKs DuRiNg ThE fLaShBaCk" correct but it's just that, a flashback. He's not speaking directly to Price as if you're controlling him while looking at Price. The flashback scenes are different to the cutscene of which you're playing as him in. Price is there in the actual scene whereas Yuri is in the flashbacks scene, not in the scene where the confrontation takes place.

Price forgives Yuri? What? Yuri. He initially joins Makarov for his country, then faces betrayal. Later, he aligns with Nikolai's men, risking himself for Price and Soap, enduring close battles with them. Makarov kills his newfound friend Soap. Despite friend's death and all he's done, Price treats him poorly. Even with no obligation, he aids in an attack against Makarov. Ultimately, impaled on metal, despite wounds and mistreatment, he sacrifices himself to save Price. While this guy may not have a great personality or depth, just this single act is enough to love him. Despite being treated poorly and enduring hardships, he repeatedly sacrifices himself for goodness and heroism. For instance, when Soap is abducted by helicopter, he accepts staying behind without hesitation or questioning, not even knowing Price or Soap at that moment. In the end, he dies to save Price. Price better hope Yuri forgives him, lmfao.

Of all the protagonist, it's the one that was set up to die in the first game that end up being the only one alive ... Dayum

Idk why but coming back and watching this scene makes me realize how good this game was.... makes me really wish that COD can go back to the good days, but idk why even when I played through the first time seeing the "objective completed" one last time when you FINALLY kill Makorov gives me chills everytime. I guess maybe because of the whole adrenaline rush and crazy things that were happening in the mission, then it gets silent and knowing that this is the end of the MW series kinda made me sad but satisfied. MW is definitely my favorite COD series by far and love coming back to look at its best moments every now and then.

What I never got was why Price hanged him while endangering his own life instead of just shooting him. If it really was for story and not just for theatrics, I have one theory. He didn't care if he died or not. Or maybe even he was suicidal. His "son" Soap was sabotaged. Roach was slaughtered. Ghost was murdered. Yuri was killed. All he really had was the military, and some of his best friends in it were killed in cold blood by his enemies. He was living for them, then for the honor of them by killing those who defiled them. Did he have any reason to live once he got his revenge on Makarov? Maybe that's why he took a smoke, not because it looked badass, but because he was trying to cope with the loss of his passion. Both the revenge and the living with loved ones. That, or I'm looking way too far into a game that, while having a narrative better than at least half of action movies...is still a generic action movie plot.

That’s pretty much it…he didn’t go in to Kill Makarov to win, find some “inner peace” and just rest…he went there to make sure that Makarov doesn’t win, no matter of cost..no tactical victory, no planned celebration after that, just pure, raw intention to kill

The delayed "Objective Completed" was just so satisfying. Just watching Makarov hung from the cable as you bring an end to a man who would obliterate a country for a sanctimonious ideal makes it feel earned.

after playing the mw3 2023 campain wow.........sush a shame they fumbled the series this hard.

At least Yuri is now at peace knowing that he died doing the honourable thing

I like the fact that at 8:20, when Price gets the chopper under his control. Makarov is sitting right behind him, and he just watches his enemy right in front of him without doing anything...If he had a knife or smth Makarov could end it right there and then.

When you play as Yuri in the flashback and it said "Stop the massacre." I respected Yuri.. RIP

Man. I always remember the first time I finished the story of that game. Was the day after the Christmas it came out, and I still get flashbacks to that every time I watch the end credits…

2019 still the best call of duty games. Mw12&3 I played when I was young but now I realized how badass these characters (good and bad) are

I love how yuri knew makarov but that never meant he would betray them he wanted makarov dead as much as soap and price did what a good soldier rip yuri

I was so young when I played this, but the MW series was so influential, that I never forgot the key missions, and I never forgot this one. Amazing..

The only gripe I have about this game was the ending. The way I see it, Yuri and Price could’ve swapped places, with Yuri being the one to hang Makarov. And in his final moments, a dying Price asks Yuri to light up his cigar, presumably to enjoy one last smoke, but instead passes it onto Yuri, symbolizing the passing of the torch.

Favorite ending to a game the moment he looks into his eyes and realizes exactly what’s about to happen to him makes me happy
