It’s interesting that no one stopped. I was driving one time with my mum at 3pm and there was a little girl walking by herself crying. We stopped and asked if she was okay, she said she was lost and didn’t know how to get home. Her baby sitter forgot to pick her up from the bus stop after school. We drove her home as she knew her address, the parents called us later balling their eyes out and said they were so thankful as she could have been taken. Jamberoo (the town) has had kidnappings before of children/teenagers. If you ever see a young child walking alone, please pull over and check if they are okay. (Only if you are a good person)

normally people don’t stop anymore because that’s how people get kidnapped. they force little girls to pretend to be lost then the person that finds the little girl would pull over and people jump the innocent person. it happened to my older cousin but she got luckily away

@@jennacarrick6330 but he did stop and follow to ask her what’s wrong, so obviously it’s not because he thought she was a trap... otherwise it would be safer and more usually to just call the police and tell them what you saw? If I saw this, being a girl I wouldn’t stop for anyone but I would definitely call the police and even exaggerate what I saw to ensure they check it out ASAP. Gangs that want to kill or abduct people use children walking alone at strange times to find targets. It’s safer to pull off at the next public place and call the police and maybe holler for the child to walk up ahead to the place you’re going that’s public. I’d try to record a short clip of the child for the police

In the US their stories are rarely covered by the media and if it is it's done it's done in short clips buried in ridiculous stories rather than headline news which is why black social media outlets and influencers have to cover the stories.

Ashlynne Biggs You can feel comfortable saying, "chill out" when you're a priority not a forced after thought. No, it's not always about race but in this case what I stated is facts. Stories of missing black children aren't covered the same way (if at all) the way missing white children are covered. Period. It's a fact. There even had to be a special tv show created to ensure that black missing children get attention. It doesn't take much effort to find the facts.

I'm not sure if it applies to this case (haven't watched the entire video yet), but sometimes sheltering kids too much can be bad. The kids grow up too naïve, and the moment they aren't under their parents watch (it's inevitable. You can't keep an eye on your kid 100% of the time), they are in serious danger, since they can't identify what's a threat. But I'm not a mother, I can't say it with property...

My theory: She was sleepwalking. She gets up randomly in the middle of the night puts clothes on packs her bag and leaves she house and begins walking the route to her bus stop as if she is going to school. Someone pulls along side her asks if she is okay, this wakes her up and scares her, she panics and runs away. From there maybe she wandered around to the point where she couldn't be found or maybe she was abducted/hit by a car etc.

Basically to sum it all up they where protesting and Got in a bus and disappeared. Some people say that the bus was hijacked but the biggest theory (which i believe) because it makes more sense is that the Mexican government killed them purposely. It is still a huge discussion in Mexico right now. No bodies where ever found nothing, its like they just disappeared Heres a link that explains it Better. www.bbc.com/news/amp/world-latin-america-35539727

My theory is when she left the house, she was walking the road as if she had school but she never checked the time.. so she was earlier than usual. OR MAYBE, she “made” her team lose yesterday (even though it wasn’t her fault” & thought maybe she needs to get to school early to practice. What if when she was walking the car that stopped her & asked was she okay scared her that she ran into the woods and ran so far in she couldn’t find her way out. Maybe somebody else was in the woods & found her & decided to take her unexpectedly... or the driver probably ran after her to help her but accidentally killed her because she was maybe trying to defend herself.. idk🤷🏽‍♀️

When you were telling the story, I was keep thinking they should check her books. When I was a kid, I planned many adventures and got into troubles because I really inspired by the books I read. She didn't plan to run out, she thought she is going for a little adventure! You don't think so deeply, or for the far away future. She probably just planned for a small adventure, not fully running away. Then someone saw her and opportunity and took her.. Such a heartbreaking story. Only of one of those 5 witnesses chose to do smt. when they see smt that didn't look right. Please, especially if it is a kid and you feel like smt is wrong, do something. Worse scenario you will be wrong and get embarrassed, still better than a kid getting hurt!

She was running away from her parents house and she was only 9.... she was on the way to her aunts but was walking the wrong way. We took her to her aunts so she would have a safe place to say. She could've slept walked thinking she was going to school. A friend of mine got up, got undressed, and got in the shower to follow her morning routine all while sleeping in the middle of the night. The girl didn't necessarily pack a bag, everything in her bag could've already been in there from the day before. She was even on the route to school that her bus took. Plus, the fact that she freaked out when the truck driver started talking to her would make sense because if he woke her up, its a normal response from someone sleep walking to freak out and be disoriented. Then I think someone found her along the way. I can't imagine such a young girl leaving with no apparent reason in the middle of the night during a storm without even a jacket!

But if the bag was packed from the school day before, why would she have items clothing in her school bag? Apart from her basketball uniform I think it would be unusual for her to have random items of clothing in her bag unless she packed them purposely knowing she was going to leave. At the same time though, I guess that raises the question of why she didn't take things such as a toothbrush if she intended to leave. Maybe she intended on leaving and coming back? Who knows

I did this when I was younger! I woke up in the middle of the night and went through my morning routine, packed random stuff in my backpack trying to prepare for school, and started walking to my bust stop. I only stopped because my mom heard me and stopped me. She could have waited for her bus thinking it was the morning, then when it didn't come tried to walk to school. Might be unlikely but sleep walking makes you do weird things!

    1. She left at 4 am, not 2 am. 2. People fake fears and phobias very often. When I ran away when I was 10, I pretended to be afraid of loud noises, and bright lights, and I wasn't found for 8 days. (theory) 3. The man probably didn't think it was a little girl, but then when he realized it was, he had to U-turn a few times to catch up to her. (theory) 4. There could've been some sort of liquid in the bag that someone/Asha didn't want to leak, so they put it in 2 bags (theory) 5. She probably stopped there for a while to get out of the storm, like Bella said. 6. She probably didn't have a key. Lots of kids don't.

This reminds me of a little bit of when my brother disappeared for a couple of hours. This was in the early 2000 and he was about 5 years old. He claimed to leave the house around 4 or 5 am because we shared a room but our door was removed so he was afraid. So he decided to leave the house and start walking towards my grandfather’s home which was about 10-15 minutes away by car. My youngest sister discovered my brother missing and told my parents who then called the police. There was a search going in the neighborhood but no luck. The police actually thought my parents were the ones who may have something to do with his disappearance. Sometime during my brother’s walk to my grandfather’s house my brother said he was picked up by a couple who found it strange that he was walking in the dark alone. They took him to their apartment and let him sleep and gave him cereal in the morning. They then asked him if he knew where he lived but he didn’t but he did remember how to get to my grandparents house so he was dropped off there. This was super freaky. What if my brother was abducted by a pedophile or a crazy person. Now my brother is 21 and still hates that I bring up this story.

Typically & statistically 9 yr olds don’t run away even if they are abused in some way shape or form. They just don’t have the resources to survive alone. Especially given the fact that they are scared, alone, dark outside, and nowhere to go. Plus she wouldn’t make it, someone would have taken her period. If that was the case where she walked out, someone would still taken advantage of her. If she was safe, she would have been found and returned back home. I also want to point out that she was black, if she would have been white , I really don’t think they would have said a 9 yr old white girl took a stroll in the middle of the night & ran away to nowhere. I believe that girl was most likely murdered & there are so many of them out there sold in sex slavery or murdered and they need justice. This is heartbreaking. I would be so upset if In fact my child was murdered and someone said she ran away for no damn reason.

The way her bag was found is very eerie and suggest foul play. it's almost like the abductor is trying to rub it in the parents families face that yes i've killed your child. I also think that its weird that the investigators withheld evidence from the public/family I feel that they know what may have happened to her (ie racist group killed her) and with held the evidence so not to fuel racial tension.

I don’t think she was sleep walking. Changing clothes, packing bags, and unlocking doors are quite complex tasks to do when sleep walking. I think she ran away. She had a bag packed with items she thought she would need, even food (candy). Something caused her to want to leave. She probably left early morning knowing no one would be up and she’d be able to sneak out. Why left and what happened after is the real question. You’d be surprised at what one could do while sleepwalking. When my brother was younger, he walked and talked in his sleep. One time, he started walking out the door but luckily our mom stopped him. So it is possible to do those tasks while sleepwalking, but I don’t necessarily think that is the case here.

I've heard of people doing things as complex as driving successfully from point A to point B while sleepwalking, so I'm not discounting the sleepwalking theory yet. Whether or not Asha did sleepwalk I obviously don't know, but I think it could be possible!

I started running away from home at like 6 or 7 but my home life was rocky. I feel like yeah, she probably left of her own free well but maybe someone was grooming her or put this idea into her head. Maybe they said they'd take her somewhere fun but if she said anything to anyone she couldn't go, something like that.

I feel like someone she knew(an older person probably with bad intentions) maybe someone from church or someone she was comfortable with knew about how sheltered she was(she couldn’t use computers, internet, watch certain tv shows and probably more things) and played on that by saying to her “hey if you sneak out in the middle of the night so you don’t get in trouble I will take you to my house and you can use the computer, play games, watch any shows you want and do whatever you want” telling her that they will pick her up in the middle of the night then bring her back before her parents wake and if it was someone she trusted of course she’s gonna take that offer so maybe something like that happened? Not too sure but something bad definitely happened because there is no way she left in the middle of the night into the dark storm which she was afraid of there’s just no way.

Excessively sheltered kids can become adept at keeping secrets. I know I was. To this day, there's heaps of things I did against my parent's will that they don't know about, even younger than Asha was. Unfortunately, sheltered kids can also be much more unaware of potential dangers than others--whether it's because the parents are too afraid to tell them about it, or because they haven't developed the social skills to decide if something IS dangerous, or if their parents are just being overprotective. (This is how my sister ended up pregnant, & how my friend ended up stalked by an internet pedophile. If everything is a boogeyman, nothing is.) Maybe someone managed to groom her into sneaking out to a meeting place. I also agree with the theory that, for some reason, she was running away or sleepwalking--and a predator spotted her in the perfect situation to take her. (Middle of the night, dark, no witnesses.) But I think running away is more likely than sleepwalking. Even if you LOVE your family, being sheltered can feel awful, because you're missing out on so much compared to your friends. At her age, it was a HUGE complex of mine, but my parents never knew because I was too afraid to rebel based on it being a sin or upsetting my parents. It's just so odd that she left in the dark in a storm. It makes me think there was someone who was supposed to meet her and help out. This 'someone' may not even be a mysterious predator. It could have been a friend who wanted to go with her, or meet her, but either never showed up, or one of them got lost along the way to the meeting place. This friend may feel horribly guilty for not showing up, or have feared getting in trouble/being blamed. Especially if they also were sheltered. Even to this day, they may feel like it's too late to come forward without looking like a bad person/selfish for waiting so long. It could have even been a friend at school Asha's parents had no idea she had. Not sure who could have groomed her, if that happened instead, but the internet is my main theory. Even in 2000, the boogeyman of cyber predators was a big thing, so if she talked to someone on a school computer (Like I used to do on beanie baby forums, or cartoon fansites,) that could be a reason why her parents never heard of the person--she coulda kept it a secret. I don't think any parent intends to isolate their child or give them a complex by overprotecting them. But the fact is, everyone I know who ended up going wild & ruining various portions of their lives by being unable to control how much of life they chased after, were sheltered kids eager to be free. It's very, very important to be honest with your kids about dangers, but also to trust that they can make good choices, & give them an environment at home to BE honest about their lives without fear of being punished or grounded or having things taken away from them. It kind of teaches kids that if they want to have fun like other kids, they need to lie to their parents. This is a case that always sticks with me, & I always have a place in my heart wondering what happened to Asha. I hope that some day, her family can get the answers they need. This case has apparently never gone cold, even after all these years. That gives me hope that there are threads being connected behind the scenes that will lead to those answers.

ShakeyMakeup maybe it was a familiar face. Or how the person approached her ? Maybe they asked if she needed a ride or kept following her making her eventually get in the car. There’s a whole lot of trust in the situation if In fact someone did lan on abdicating her because she has no cell phone to talk to the person along the way and share with them her where abouts so maybe the person told her where to meet them and got tired of waiting and started driving and found her walking along the road. I think it’s probably someone from church because if you think about it that same day she got abducted she had went to church. Then she came back and went to sleep later on then woke up early in the morning. Maybe someone from church gave her instructions on what to do.

I think she had planned to leave, or thought about leaving so much (from the books), that she became halfway awoken after her dad opened the door to check on them. I think she was in a dream like state running away until the man in the 18 wheeler saw her. After that she woke up fully and realized she was outside in the rain and ran into the shed. After clearing her thoughts and realizing she needed to go back home, she saw Donald Ferguson or another predator and he talked her into getting his car. I think that he pretended he knew her father and mother and he offered to “drive her home”. Then he sexually assaulted and murdered her ORRRRR She shared her thoughts of adventure and running away (inspired by the book) with an adult close to her (teacher, church member, basketball parent/coach, etc.). They convinced her to get up early and come meet them and they’d have adventures. They would have used it as a chance to abduct her.

It's one of those cases that has stuck with me ever since I first read about it and it bugs me so much that it doesn't seem to be getting as much attention as prominent cases of missing white children in the US do. I've racked my head over and over and over again over this case trying to understand Asha's thoughts and motivations that night as well as where and how exactly things went very wrong for her. And I still can't seem to settle on an explanation that neatly explains all the publicly available evidence. So frustrating and a million times more heartbreaking.

Honestly I think I would rather actually have a body and KNOW what happened rather than my young child just disappear never to be seen again. And it is amazing that the people who saw her didn’t get out and hold her and call police. If I a young kid walking alone at odd hours I’m holding you and calling the police unless a parent surfaces. At 3am. Yeah you’re staying with me and we’re going to the police station. And if they run I’d try to go after them because I couldn’t live with myself if something happened to them.

Hi there! I'm like almost 3 years late but here I am binging all your videos since I've recently discovered your channel yesterday. So back in the days when I was a kid growing up in the South Pacific islands, I woke up sometime in the middle of the night. I got up walked toward the door heading outside passing my parents whom were still awake at that time. I got outside and continued walking up toward the street. I got to the street and started heading towards one direction. I could hear my dad yelling my name and calling out to me asking me where I headed. I finally stopped and came to myself and realized I was in the middle of the street. Of course, I immediately returned home and my dad was standing outside the house asking me where I was heading and I'm not sure what I said to me but I do remember him saying I needed to go back to bed. So my thoughts went straight to sleep walking when you said there was no forced entry in this case and no signs of anyone being in the house those early morning hours. And being that Asha was afraid of the dogs and the storm. So with those fears, I doubted she would have purposefully ran away during those hours...especially considering the fear factors. However, the only ways to make someone walk out like that despite the fear factors was either coercion (kidnapping) or sleep walking. And since kidnapping, at least during the house situation, was out of the question because there was no evidence of an intruder. So the only other option would be sleep walking. As you mentioned, when that man drove next to her it spooked her big time and ran into the woods and possible into the shed scared. And from there she tried to get back home but was unsuccessful because she ran into some mean people and took advantage of her and dispose of her backpack.. although I think she could still be alive and his being held against her will or sold into trafficking, we'll never know. I have a hard time believing that witnesses that have seen on the road would actually NOT call 911 but I can say it's probably true. I often wondered what would have happened if I were the one that saw in the middle of the street those early morning house. Well, if it were me I know that I'd stop next to her and offer some assistance. Let's say she gets spooked (especially in a sleep walking case like this), I'd still stay put in that same spot, call 911 and wait for an officer to return to I could point out the direction the little girl had fled. I'd want to make sure the officials knew exactly where it had happened and I want to make sure the child was safe and wasn't forced into another vehicle down the road. Or maybe I'm just saying that now because I've watched so many of these videos. But sleep walking does happen and it's real. My oldest son went through that sleep walking phase when he was a kid....except when he'd sleep walk the same age as Asha, he'd walk to the corner of the room and took a piss there...thinking he had walked to the bathroom or something... .yeah, we still remind me of that now that he's married and has 3 kids of his own....LOL

I think something happened in church. Sadly, in my expericene, church is a place where a lot of people live dubble lives. They act all "godly" but in reality they are child predators. Maybe she was sexually abused and this triggered her to runaway... Edit: Also if it was somone from church, they probably used God and religion as a way to groom her

Isadora Barros “they act all godly but really they are child predators”. That is a pretty general and ignorant remark to make. Of course there are horrible people in churches, just like in every other institution created. The problem isn’t necessarily the institution, but the people who disguise themselves within it and take advantage of it. Same goes for creeps in politics or show business or any other thing. But just because a church is mentioned doesn’t automatically connect to an overwhelming possibility of sexual abuse.

Emily Oliveira Her point is right though she also said FROM HER EXPERIENCE so obviously her opinion. It’s not like she’s judging the whole church it’s just a possibility, just like the other comments accusing her family. She’s just trying to help not judge, i think you took it too personal lol.

I believe that she was sleep walking. I think in her sleep walking state, she was getting ready for school. And maybe that is why she walked along the road that heads to her school... and when that truck driver talked to her, she woke up and got scared and ran away.

this story kind of gets me upset because her parents did everything and limited everything so that they would never get hurt, taken, sexually abused, anything, and this happened they did everything they could to prevent this and now they probably would limit any other kids of theirs (if they had any more), even worse because their method didn’t work the first time.
