@@nancygarcia1812 this is an extremely unfortunate case because the statue of limitations expired on the murder of Jacob. The statue of limitations in the US ( I'm not sure how it works/if it's a thing in other countries) is a law that certain crimes cannot be charged on someone if a certain amount of time has passed from when it happened to when they had enough evidence to charge the suspect. It's absolutely horrible that this man could be free soon and there absolutely should never be a limitation on murder or rape

I remember when I was 14 a snuck out and took my parents car out for a ride and accidentally hit this car while trying to switch lanes. When they guy got out I could see he was pissed but then he looked at me and just smiled. After crying he started hugging me and told me if I went to his house and talked to him he would forget the whole thing. Mind you it was like 3 in the morning and he was driving a luxury car. I said no and he then grabbed me pushed me aside of the car and started fondling me. Luckily someone drove by and got out of the car. They got into an altercation, the Good Samaritan won and they called the police. One of the worst experiences of my life.

This is so horrific. It breaks my heart that this happens to any child. I remember when I was 12 I was in Orlando with my family and me and my sister were by ourselves at the beach. I forgot something in the hotel room so I went back up by myself. When I came out of our room there was a man who came up the staircase and started walking with me. He was about 45ish and very sketchy he started asking me weird questions and complimenting my bikini and alarm bells started going off when he started using profane language. He asked me if I had a boyfriend, how tall my boyfriend was, how old I was, if anyone was waiting for me in the hotel. I was scared but we were the only people around. We got to the elevator and as he walked into the elevator I acted like I was walking in too and then I turned and ran as fast as I could back to my room and locked the door and cried. I was so scared the rest of that trip and I never told anyone. There are so many creeps with nothing to live for that will kidnap and assault children. Its so scary. That poor boy.

I was raised in SW Minnesota and Jacob’s kidnapping changed our world. He played hockey with my brother and his age placed him right between my older brother and I. At the time I remembered him but now I wonder if that was childish fear. His kidnapping was the end of feeling safe in small town Minnesota. I remember that time vividly. It was something that stayed in the back of my mind for the next 20 years. What bothers me most is why every farmer didn’t continuously search their entire properties. It’s certainly what I would have done. I have to believe he wasn’t found for so long so that Patty could help so many people. I remember when she came to our elementary school and spoke to us about how to be safe. To me, Jacob could just has easily have been my own brother or myself as we had the same interests so when I saw her in person I started shaking so badly I excused myself to the bathroom so that I could get ahold of myself before anyone saw for fear that people would think I was attention seeking. Jacob you will always be in my heart. I understand why the Wetterlings made the choice that they did. No one could face the idea that he was truly gone until this heartbreaking confession. My prayers will always include the Wetterling family and all those who loved him.

There are tons of things that could happen so that the piece of fabric later on would be on the surface... Wind, the cows eating the grass, the cows moving the dirt... I wish he had know that he wasn’t the one doing wrong and that his attacker and murderer was the one in the wrong...I honestly don’t understand how someone can be so evil.... I’m very interested in true crime and have watched many videos on different crimes...but this one make me physically sick. All of this guys poor victims...who knows how many physical victims not to mention all the children in his “binders”. And the murderer got such a short prison stay....i hope he gets caught for something else and gets put away for life....

My family lived 2 blocks from the Wetterlings when I was a kid. He was 11 and I was 8 when he disappeared. It was so eerie. No one went trick-or-treating on Halloween that year. My mom befriended his mom Patty, and on the day we finally found out what happened I had a full-on anxiety attack. His killer had better rot in hell for eternity. Peace and love to the Wetterling family.

I managed the 24 hour answering service that took the calls for the Jacob Wetterling Foundation when they were closed. When Heinich was arrested he lived in the small town that my parents live. This case is so traumatizing and so terribly sad. I actually grew up in Paynesville and this was a story that haunted the whole town. As a kid, I remember always driving past the same missing person billboard for Jacob. Seeing this sweet little boy plastered up there was a constant reminder of what had taken place. I remember hearing stories from my family members and their theories of what happened to the little boy. One night, my father told me about how a family member, that went to school with Heinrich, told him that Jacob might be buried somewhere around Paynesville. I never thought it was true. Until Jacob was finally found in that pasture just outside of town. So many people went to that pasture with flowers, pictures, and notes. The first couple days it seemed like the whole town was constantly there, mourning Jacob and his family’s pain. I just hope Jacob could feel that presence and know so many people care about him. (Soon after Heinrich was sent to jail, his house in Annandale was burned to the ground. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s something.)

This case is just agonising. I had a feeling when you mentioned the killer had assaulted multiple boys that he probably only killed poor Jacob because of the intense search and attention the case got, but the fact that it was just an unrelated patrol is so much harder to bear for some reason. Poor little boy, there can be no justice to fit a crime this cold and vile, but I hope that absolute monster gets torn limb from limb. He deserves to suffer. So angry and heartbroken all at once, I will never understand the cruelty of men.

I felt so awful when I found out he had been accused for this crime and that police officers had literally urged him to just admit he did it so that they could be done with it all.
