My wise father told me on his death bed that, although the state of our society is in which money is a necessity for survival but, don't work your self in the ground for a dollar. Many things in life are much more important than money. Love compassion life itself positive relationships. Learning wise divine knowledge to not help your situation but to help others in theirs. Leave your vehicle for your soul in a place better than when it arrived. Only way to be honestly one with nature

At what point is it too late? 1 Timothy 6:10-12 King James Version 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. Mark 8:36-38 King James Version 36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Chasing after money can make you miserable. But having to do unfulfilling menial work just for the very basics of survival, when there are people raking in $10s of thousands a day, $100s of thousands a day, $millions a day (like the CEO of DoorDash built on slave labor that have to bring their own equipment to damage and destroy to do the job), makes one far more miserable.

Well this is necessary for progress, don't throw that away with some positive-thinking or dissociate-from-your thoughts bullshit, but also don't hurt yourself or make the world worse just because you had some thought and misused it. Constructive use of "negative" feedback is the ultimate good.

I am 42 years old and the way I've been thinking has been this way as long as I can remember and I've been listening to Alan Watts roughly about about a good month now I happen to come across him on a KZread video and was kind of relieved to hear someone else saying things that I had already been saying and thinking myself but living in a world where no one thinks that way or no one understands or no one can relate you definitely feel isolated and which is fine but you definitely feel outside of this world but to be able to hear someone else be able to say things that I I've been saying for so long and thinking to myself it was just breath a breath of fresh air I said so long ago that money was useless when we got put here on this earth when we came out of this Earth everything we need here is already here for us to survive earth air water fire that's everything we need to survive here money does nothing a human being does everything that we get done so when someone says there wasn't enough money there wasn't enough money we don't have the money that's bull if something isn't getting done someone doesn't want to do it money doesn't get up and perform surgery does it make medicine doesn't grow grain and and a human being does all of that everything we do will get done in here is done by a person people don't understand that the definition of survival isn't to try to live as long as you can the definition of survival is to sustain the bodies that were in while we're here because every single living organism needs Earth and waterfire we need sleep we need food we need clothes or some type of habitat that keeps us from freezing or overheating so we need a roof we need a roof we need a home we need clothes we need food and we need water to survive here every living organism needs if not all of those some of those the way we sustain the bodies that were in is by making sure that we eat sleep that were warm or not too hot and that we have liquid or fluid in our bodies Our senses are here after five senses that we have aren't supposed to rule us they're supposed to help us as we making it through this place so when a lion or whatever walks upon a cliff his eyes can see that he can't go any further and not to go can't continue walking or your hand tells you if you're touching something that's hot or cold or whatever or back away the senses aren't supposed to rule us and have you indecisive about what to do and what not to do as far as going back and forth make the decision and keep it moving we are ruled by our emotions and our senses and we're not supposed to be there just a guide it's just amazing to be able to have somebody that I can listen to and relate to somebody that's talking about something that I find interesting and stimulating for my mind and and in collaborating and and and get through all of this and and be okay with it I've never been afraid of death it's amazing that people are afraid of it to me I mean it's the one thing to be known for sure it's just uncanny how people are so scared to death of it cuz I know I don't want to live forever I'm good with living as long as we're supposed to live. Because people are trying to live forever or as long as they can we're taking away from all the other species and living organisms when we do that and that's not right!

People are so afraid of loosing money that they cannt think, that way you cant ever make money , better spend your money on having fun , in the long run you had something of value no money can buy.

So many people are so eager to tell you that money is not important. The other day, however, I heard of a mother with two children. She had to sell one child to be able to afford food for the other one. If she told me money is not important, I would take her word. As for the rest, they're either hypocrites or idiots. Their feel-good spiels might be valid in a world where personal value is appreciated, but ours is not one of those worlds. Don't give up but don't delude yourself either.

Money doesn't make you happy - at best it makes it easier coping with being unhappy! People who need materialistic display, status symbols and such almost always lack genuine substance in terms of personality, confidence, self esteem and a healthy portion of pride in who and what they are and do. The materialistic stuff is bought as a compensation for this lack. Since materialistic things are short lived in their effect, the buying has to go on and on. It is not a disease but it is a condition that those who suffer from it would be a lot happier without. In a society where peer pressure is created to the extent that you are considered a loser if you didn't crown a tertiary education with an impressive degree, respect for those who may well do a great job in their field but without academic decorum is non existent. If you are part of that segment, you have plenty of folks looking down on you and that makes it difficult to be happy, too. The thing is not everyone is born to be a successful doctor or lawyer or architect or stock broker etc. Many are born to excel in professions and fields that don't come with the glitzy image of very decent to exorbitant pay. But those professions are fulfilling too, they demand working hard too, they require dedication and determination and skill too, they deserve respect and recognition too and we would be in dire straits without them. I personally admire the contractor who does good work and i think he should be proud of it, i admire the care taker who does hard work at unimpressive pay and i think he/she should be proud of that, the cashier, the post man, the delivery person, the cleaner, they all have lives too, they mostly make do with the little they earn and yet they can be happy at the same time. How so? They got the key to happiness: friends, getting together, cooking and eating together, helping each other out, looking forward to a day off, meeting up for a walk, chipping in for a joint BBQ, singing together, watching sports events together, expressing affection for each other and so on. None of this requires fancy cars, big houses, pricey jewelry, titles, degrees, 85 inch TVs or diamond crusted hand phone covers. In that regard they are not only better off than the status symbol addict but richer too.

I was asked "how do you do it?" She was asking how I can love people so freely, when pain happened as a result of loss or rejection. "The pain is the bitter in the sweet. Without it, the sweet would go bad in my mouth, and I could no longer enjoy it." You can lose this with enough pain, so the sweet goes away. You can lose your way. That's ok. It's an opportunity to really learn how to trust the universe. Where there is bitter, there is sweet. Always.

I would put forth the argument, contrary to Russell Brand here, that most lottery players simply want to be less reliant on others and on the system, in other words, achieving the same goal Russell is arguing for BY winning the lottery. I personally encourage everybody do whatever it takes, including gambling with a small amount of money, to make yourself self-reliant. Don't spend your life working a job you hate at a noisy factory for a meager sum of money while giving away all your free time.

Yep, basically a cult. You can leave most any cult you want, go ahead. But where will you go, how will you live? That's how they trap ya, from the inside out. This whole system depends on the same currency-- try going along without buying gas, or ever going to the supermarket or not renewing your license, or paying taxes, etc... it is depressing maybe how trapped most all of us are, but also even more concerning imo how people think just getting richer (deeper into this system, exploiting & destroying nature, people, etc) would solve pretty much any issue we could have...

I must admit, while I could listen to Alan Watts in all eternity and never lose interest, the video accompanying these wise words is a bit dubious. It keeps showing only these externally perfect model people, I mean, really where is Joe Sixpack in there?, who seem to only have to invest their time in creating art or going hiking in the most beautiful places in the world and they represent the ideal? But what if I need a plumber? It's already very hard to find one these days who has an hour slot to fix your problem some time within the next 3 months, at least that's what it's like in my neck of the woods. And in this future perfect world I'll have to presumably wait for six months as they are up and about working on themselves, uhm ... taking art classes, going on a hike? I mean, I get it, we should develop a different mindset to lose some of that obsession with materialism, but I think what is lacking from this narrative is the reason why we are so obsessed with it, which is vital knowledge if you want to get rid of it. We are just advised to give up on it and lead a spiritual life. This is nonsense. While it can be argued that the material world is merely a concept, try driving your car 60 miles per hour at a brick wall, I think you'd arrive at a different conclusion. I know, it is meant not quite that way, but while the material world cannot be 100% pinpointed, we obviously have a pretty wide ranging consensus of it, otherwise we could not co-exist, so this notion, while literally true, does not hold up in reality. In stead of just dropping our obsession with the material world, as in all things, even in nature, it's all about balance and we need both, the material as well as the spiritual, I'd go even further, you can't have one without the other. The only problem is, that the balance between the two is seriously disturbed and we should be focussing on that, not get rid of one of them. Maybe we should give up on the notion that there is one perfect way of existence that we should all strive for and if only if we'd follow that rule, we would all be happy and content. That's a sure way to achieving the opposite. To me it sounds like The Big Reset, you'll own nothing but be happy, yeah, let's go back to feudalism, that worked out so well in the Middle Ages.

Money gives you options. You can travel the globe at your leisure, dine at fine restaurants, put your kids in private schools instead of being indoctrinated into a ill system, spend more time with the ones you love as it allows for more freedom to do so without being shackled to your 9 to 5 or longer to make ends meet.. You want to start a business? No problem. Maybe a riding school? Maybe you just want to ride horses and own a farm? Options! Not having to worry about your financial situation is a wonderful thing. Assets verus liabilities. Assets provide cashflow in the background so you dont have to work an extra shift to pay off those pair of shoes you want, or double time to save for vacation.. Those that lack gratitude and are deficient in meaningful relationships are trying to fill a void with material things. Doesn't work! But.. let's not get confused. There is nothing wrong with having a lot of money, because money provides options you didn't have prior to not having it. And if you are grateful, it amplifies your experience.

Money is what we make it out to be. In today's world money is what makes the world go round. Sadly for those struggling who have found the meaning of life, can't and will not survive without "Money". Those who live the high life can tell you they don't feel fulfilled, however I'm sure they don't go to sleep hungry, or worrying about if they will be able to make their mortgage. What awaits for someone who wakes up and sees things for what they are "(TRUTH)" ? There will always be corruption for those in power. As far back in human history anyone given control over anything will never relinquish it. We go to war over ideas and beliefs that are not our own. It's sad to see grown men and women can't even get along why because of "Money"...

The idea that Watts laid out, that there's no explanation, butts heads with the idea of synchronicity from Jung. Having seen the latter, in fact for nearly three years daily and most of the day it felt as if reality was screaming at me, I can say that it is real. Maybe Watts wasn't saying everything had no reason but either some things or ultimately there's no reason, because behind it all there isn't any reason at the most fundamental, but at different scales it is.

Sounds good however a person who has nothing has need of what everyone has need of. Food water and shelter from the storm. It's arrogant to impose self-righteous knowledge on the suffering. If I got it you got it is a neighbor. To withhold from the suffering is evil...pain. if those with more than they need were to give it away it is a gift. Everything is a gift. The ability to create and produce a "mechiene" is capital. In a gifting economy the individual is still responsible for creating the hearts desire to keep Earth alive for many generation. To sever the will to be the best at anything is to destroy the soul likewise is forcing anything to produce. In a perfect world we wish to live so make it happen. NO GUNS NO BOMBS NO GAS NO WAR

The only thing is this world that really belongs to you is a little bit of time. Everything else you're going to give back anyway. Make the most of your time. What is so treasured by men is detestable to God. Give so that you may receive but understand, God is not strapped for cash and what he wants to give you, money can't buy.
