People Keep Looking But Don't See It - Alan Watts on Inner Peace

An inspirational and profound speech on inner peace and the meaning of life from the late philosopher Alan Watts. People keep looking but they don't see it.
Original Audio sourced from: “Alan Watts - On being God Q&A 1 and 2"
Video Produced and Edited by T&H Inspiration
“The meaning of life is just to be alive. It is so plain and so obvious and so simple. And yet, everybody rushes around in a great panic as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves.”
- Alan Watts. (1915 - 1973)

T&H also films and releases original interviews with iconic people who have experienced successes, while also persevering through life's highs and lows. We look forward to sharing more of these perspectives and insights.
Our hope with these videos is to push your thinking. As Alan Watts said “No one is more dangerously insane than one who is sane all the time: he is like a steel bridge without flexibility, and the order of his life is rigid and brittle.” - Alan Watts.

We can't give up the fight because if we did it would be the end of your children's, and their children's children's futures. The totality of what "futute" could ever be. @@kinginblack1120 I too disagree with your reading... "Giving in" is about the ever seeking of an "identity", and that's ego job, always hope that we shall, at last, "fit in", into some pattern or another - an ego pattern. - , the "opposing" one not being the least deceptive... Letting go of that seeking means "landing into your own shoes"... Takes a freaking lot of guts, to venture it... Afterwards, and only then, turning down social alienation amounts to an utterly DIFFERENT experience! Your kids "future" just CAN'T be your's , to manage. And for a start, taking care of your children 's future amounts to taking ill-care of your own present, thus saddling them with your own torment... Your example will turn out their greatest wealth and inheritance, only if you don' t even BUY the "opposing" stance! If you need to FT hell out of some big city or nasty, pointless job, start your quest NOW , and even bare the grudge of your kids' dismay, or disapproval. No more postponing!!! 🙏

I love what you said. Disposition has to come from your heart, it's hard to translate feelings without someone else feeling the same way. Unfortunately "drugs" have the ability to let you project your thoughts without inhibitions ,but make you question yourself the next day. Realising yourself is a difficult thing ,yes we laugh in hindsight and that must be a good thing. Moraly, I think we know what's best for us , but if no one validates it then it sounds useless. Inside, I think this is important to remain human.....only one life.

Not just for one other person, but for every person. Our love should go beyond what we can see, and love the adventure for what it is. Allen Watts, you are a very intuitive person. Never completely grow up. Change the patterns that make unhealthy and unhappy but embrace the patterns that raise your vibration. Not all patterns are bad but should be built on. That’s how you remember and respect the past, enjoy the presence of now and look forward to a bright future. Accepting what it is. Perception is embracing the pain. It happens and it to can be beautiful as well. I love life both the highs and lows. I’m wise enough not to fall into the valley. I walk through it.

Recognise when you feel happy, where do you feel it in your body and try keep that feeling going. Soon enough you will learn gratitude and that if you keep on holding to things that have already happened or haven’t even happened yet, you are poisoning yourself slowly. Don’t let tomorrow worries, impact your today. Take it a day at a time. Your worries are a reflection of what you lack. Play along with the illusion and convince yourself that you are happy and great full. That is when you will find what was already found within you….

Most reasons for how things are, were made up to sort of explain why things are. For example, are animals existing in the wild there for the human being amusements? No , not really . But that sounds like a good reasoning for having zoos. Is that why animals exist? Instead realizing that are animals just enjoying living and being about raising there little ones. This is kind of the same thing we humans being are doing. We only complicate things by making up reasons and why “ such and such” is important. Our meanings and reasons why .. It’s all just all a game above and beyond nature and just being. Maybe instead have a purpose instead of a reason why. A purpose is more closer to what it is you are here for.

What's the meaning of ppl coughing in the background while recording a speech..? The more Mr Watts gets to the point, the more ppl are coughing. Sounds like an exorcism..

It's not so much seeking meaning - it's more to be be reminded of what is. We're born knowing but are taught to forget and in that sense Alan is very good at helping people remember.

I'd recommend to give it time - Alan's philosophy is very deep. Take what you understand now, mull it over, and keep coming back.
