It's Already Happening But People Don't See It - Alan Watts on Duality

An inspirational and profound speech on Duality, the music of life, and How It Is All Happening Around Us from the late philosopher Alan Watts. Original Audio sourced from: “Alan Watts - Coincidence of Opposites"
Video Produced and Edited by T&H Inspiration
“The problem comes up because we ask the question in the wrong way. We supposed that solids were one thing and space quite another, or just nothing whatever. Then it appeared that space was no mere nothing, because solids couldn’t do without it. But the mistake in the beginning was to think of solids and space as two different things, instead of as two aspects of the same thing. The point is that they are different but inseparable, like the front end and the rear end of a cat. Cut them apart, and the cat dies.”
- Alan Watts. (1915 - 1973)

T&H also films and releases original interviews with iconic people who have experienced successes, while also persevering through life's highs and lows. We look forward to sharing more of these perspectives and insights.
Our hope with these videos is to push your thinking. As Alan Watts said “No one is more dangerously insane than one who is sane all the time: he is like a steel bridge without flexibility, and the order of his life is rigid and brittle.” - Alan Watts.

We don't have to do anything. Just stop drinking fluids and die in a few days, if you want. If you can. I really would, if I wasn't so afraid of what awaits me. The evil I know is better than the evil I don't know. Life does have a clear beginning and an end. Unless you're telling me you remember before birth, that you have been living in a present moment since before you were born, forever and ever never created? It's all well and good, until you live a life like mine. Where one day you're moments away from a Heavenly state of being, call it Nirvana or being one with Buddha, if you will. The very next day you get raped by an invisible entity. That won't leave you alone, ever, day or night. For many years. Always there, a worm squirming in your ass, in spirit. Manipulating your spirit and your thoughts and your beliefs. Is it my fault for being too playful? I tripped on an intentional drug overdose of an antidepressant (for the sole reason of investigating the answer to "why am I?") I left my body because it hurt so much, fought dying, and came back. I learned how to separate myself from body while sober soon after. Now no exorcists of any faiths, nor pills doctor prescribe can fix me. Dancing all day hasn't fixed me. We have to take life easy? If I have to do anything, it's take the hard life I was given. As is written in the Tao Te Ching - "easy and difficult define eachother." I have to see it through, because there is no other choice for me. Suicide is not an option. Be playful? Life isn't serious? Hey let's play the game - throw a knife into the ceiling. All fun and games until someone loses an I. According to Buddha, life is suffering. Growing up, hurts. Growing old, hurts. Just my experience. You have no idea how much life can suck, neither do I. It could be worse, it could always be worse. The question that nobody living can answer with any degree of certainty - why am I? Not to be confused with the question - how am I? The most common answer I see to "why am I?" Is to be "happy". How am I supposed to be happy when there's very many, very real people experiencing very real suffering? If you can't tell me why am I, you can't tell me anything. The only one I can trust is Christ, but I can't even trust the Bible! It is full of inconsistencies. The Lord purportedly said as inscribed in the Bible - "Call no man your father or teacher, for I am your Father and Teacher". The Holy Spirit, another aspect of the Lord. Maybe? Maybe not? I can't even trust my own sense of "spirit" "prana" "chi" thanks to this unforgivable evil entity attached to me! Or maybe I am the unforgivable one, considering my pleas to any who will listen to me, yet here this evil thing remains. I did see the Lord's face, where the sun was supposed to be, smiling. In one of my very real (for me), not a dream, not on hallucinogens, not a lack of sleep, no lapse in consciousness, out of body experiences. It freaked me out and snapped me back to reality. That was months before I was raped and lost the ability to leave my body. I wasn't even a Christian at that time, nor before that! I don't know if I am one now. I have to believe there's a point though, a reason for this existence. Music exists for a reason, doesn't it? The reason for suffering, no good reason to begin with, to lead us *all* to a point of no more suffering. One way or another. In atheistic science, life is accidental, and everything dies. Stars die, light dies, the universe itself is predicted to die. Life is meaningless, if it is totally transient, with none left to remember any of it. There is the possibility that the whole universe is born again, possibly in an even worse configuration. If that is the case, we're all in Hell already. In Eastern thought, you're trapped in an endless cycle of life and death. A trap of suffering. The only way to escape is to transcend your individual existence. Become "one with the universe" or however you want to phrase it. Meanwhile, the rest of the universe that you have become continues to suffer. Being born into your fake self, to return to your true self. Over and over, on and on, forever and ever. In Hinduism, it's all a cycle, and the "period of darkness" we're in is the longest one, if I recall correctly. Where is the peace and joy in that? Sounds like Hell to me. My only hope is God, which is indeed separate from me. I did not create me, because I would not create me. I do believe Christ died for us to save us. But maybe not in the way that other people think. I don't know, I don't know what to believe anymore. Just a loving whisper of vibratory wind within, juxtaposed against the evil serpent worm and its influence. The love telling me one day it'll be ok, beyond that I cannot discern. Somehow, in some way, someone or something out there cares about me. I would've died of an infection spreading to my brain this year from my teeth. I had to have 3 different antibiotic prescriptions, it was so bad. If it was not for hundreds of points of energy vibrating inside my head. Helping to heal my physical ailment. But why help me stay alive and physically well, if I cannot truly heal? We will see...we will see...

Clutching or as I lovingly refer to it, white knuckling life (imagine gripping the bar of an amusement ride so tightly you can see the white on your knuckles) is a way of playing the game of life, but it is an impoverished way. Throwing your hands up into the air and allowing yourself to be taken by this ride is arguably more fun. When I find myself holding on too tight, Alan helps me relax & let go. I have a philosophy, whereby I fundamentally believe that the universe likes to help itself so of course the universe would pattern as Alan Watts for the ages.

The smaller visible finite material realm universe exists within/beneath the bigger invisible infinite spirit realm universe. This makes you and i speaks of the infinite all/god, however, we are not the Infinite Spirit Realm Godhead while we exist as finite material realm beings. If true, consider the Hubble UDF observation of one hundred and seventy-six billion galaxies with the possibility of multi/bubble/parallel universes too. Next, consider millions of earth-like planets in different historical timelines to our planet earth. Consider reincarnation, or completing the reincarnation process to merge into the Infinite Godhead. IMO the endgame goal is to remain infinite without beginning, ending or suffering. People are put through schools to be able to get ready for the work force. Life is not about working, however most of society is always focused on end goals like graduating from high school or college, and that’s why lots of people say their childhood flew by. Life should be about enjoyment however you may do that. Not about progressing to new technological advancements. Not about politics. Not about reaching end goals, but enjoyment. Sooner than you know it death will consume your consciousness and you will be nothing but a lifeless body eventually decomposing, and it would be a shame to die with the fact that you did not enjoy life and worked for most of it only to grow old wishing you were younger.

£10 million. A person working nmw for 40hours a week won’t earn £1million in their whole lifetime- minus rent, bills, food, clothing. You have to EARN a life not just assume you deserve one. The population is far more than jobs/food/water available- do some expect to live for free? Or from rich people charity? It’s designed to only allow the rich to live and enjoy. Poor people can’t- they are seen as different people all together. People are too obsessed with money to climb the ladder of society. The rich will always rule the world and get away with murder.

As humans, we have got to have more of a sense of being less poignant from velcroing ourselves to our unbenevolent sore pasts. Drown the past and make sure its dead and has an unmarked grave so you can rest assured that you do not visit it again. Set your mindset to present and future instead. These functions are the optimistic ones. The mistakes you have made for life's growth can no longer be corrected, manipulated or should allow your mind to be obtainable. Instead, let it be aspiring, humbling and rejecting. For we flourish from wisdom for every experience of life's suffering to succumb to us to be the diamonds that truly shine only if you allow yourselves to accept the rugged flaws you go through first. Alan Watts is a genius and we should learn from him.

I truly love this man, the knowledge he conveys to us. I've not in my 56 years on this plant earth been pulled in completely by another as Mr Watts He says we don't die instead like sound or water waves we just continue on forming a new. He's truly correct in saying this, right now I'm being transfixed not by a recording but by a man and what he's saying. Live on forever especially when you find yourself in the above and beyond. Life on earth is touchy those who are giving the gift to touch, move both physically and mentally and spitually the masses are those with the shortest time to do so. There is probably others like Mr Watts alive today but as I said my time will run out before I'm able to dive in . Thank you Mr Watts for everything.

An utmost extremely powerfull speech that we should really pay close attantion to. I feel it contains all the truths about how I perceive the universe and he just has a way of formulating it so beautifully. It is what you know once you understand the fundaments of spirituality, more straightforward and simple than one might think. That the world is made out of two primal energies (female and male is what you could call it). We can create with these energies and that's what life is about. Living and creating within dualism. Goosebumps.
