The Big Embankment Project & Tutorial. 31

Ойын-сауық

I'm back in the 1980's again with this major project on my layout Wood Hill Park. A lot of time and effort went into this one. A great deal of modelling, filming and editing. It's quite a long update but I did start with best part of 3 hrs to edit down, so there was plenty of footage on the cutting room floor.
Also a bit of a tutorial towards the end showing you how I produced the foliage hanging down the embankment if you fancy having a go at this method yourself.

What a difference Graham. The retaining wall was good, but had it's day. Much more impressive embankment and very lifelike! Well done. Iain

Thanks, the wall what you saw in place up till now was only a temporary hardboard with a brick wall paper, just until I made my mind up to make a proper retaining wall or an embankment. Thanks for watching and the feedback. Looks like I made the right choice. Cheers Graham 👍🙂🚂

TIP Static grass ! At 3:00 it is clearly seen that loose static grass is all over the track. This must be carefully hoovered up, or the static field generated by any locos DC motor will tend to suck static grass in. The locos DC motor will continue to attract this stuff when running, so the static grass ends up getting into the locos gearing & all around the motor. Which will end up interfering with the smooth running of the loco !!! Happy Modelling.

Maybe a bit I've missed but I do regularly use a full size vacuum cleaner normally to clean the track as the little vac's don't seem to do a good enough job. Have to be careful though as the down side you can pull up ballast. Saying that I use my dapol track cleaner for hidden sections as well. Cheers will give that area another check over just in case it's still there. Been using tons of static grass lately as you see. Gets everywhere 🤔 Regards Graham 👍

Have you though of using hair spray instead of spray laquor, it's way cheaper and safer to use. Also you get it in an unsented spray and the cans are so much bigger and will not yellowafter many years.
