Great work Graham the Das Clay looks really good ive made a note for future use. The Shed is definately a Gaugemaster I have one partially built. The fuel point and locos really sets it off.

Maybe a single shed like Bachmann do of the Peterborough one. I'm not a fan of set points either but you've made that work, also love the hard standing, I would of cheated & used plastic card. The double shed makes it look over crowded, maybe have neither & just use it as a stabling yard. Well done. ❤

Hello concrete Bob, Oops I mean Graham. I normally don't criticise on folks layout but the shed looks too big to me. Having said that I cannot offer an alternative for the shed, but I am sure you will find the answer. As usual a most entertaining video with very useful tips, Bill. P.S. the inox has been an absolute godsend to my track cleaning problem, the only snag is they have run out of stock🙁

Glad you're getting on with the inox bill. I use mine very sparingly on a cloth and I am still on my first bottle about 3 years later. Luckily I bought some more when I had the chance though. 😅 If it's this popular someone's bound to start importing again soon. Yep the shed is probably temporary as I mentioned in the update. Cheers Graham 😊 👍

@raymondleggs5508 constructive criticism is fine. This comment made me look closer at the shed and made me realise I should of removed a brick plinth now it's sitting on the hard standing. If you check out my community page you can see pic's of how the shed sits now. Atb Graham 🙂

Graham that depot looks the nuts mate, it kinda reminds me of a depot, I've been to but for the life of me, its name escapes me. You've got that hard standing down to a tee. The new 08, is an excellent addition to the fleet too. Looking forward to seeing the various details your gonna add to it. Brilliant watch. Thanks for sharing. I've several bachmann gronks and all but one run perfectly. Funnily enough it's the newest one that has problems. I find it's wheels need cleaning far more often than the others, I tip I came across on a modelling forum many years ago was to remove the blacking from the wheel backs, (if present) which I did to my NSE (Invicta models) special edition and it now will crawl along at speed step 1 all day! Great video Cheers

The hard standing and shed look right at home Graham and looks like you have made good use of the space, I too thought about using filler and sanding it down but being in the loft thought it would create too much dust. I built mine out of layers of card (from cereal boxes) painted it with concrete paint but have just this week covered it with paper concrete sheets from SMS. I couldn't make Ally Pally this year but looks like I missed a good show but have made arrangements to meet up with two old work mates at Ashford Kent Festival show this coming weekend and to celebrate my birthday hope to send some money. Many thanks for sharing regards and best wishes Barry.👍🍺

Thank you Graham, once again a very enjoyable episode. I really like the clay made concrete hardstanding idea, that works well. Oh, apparently there's now a shortage of the Hornby power-bank stayalives! I've found the HM7000 decoders unusable without them as they constantly stop and try to reset on every power glitch, so I hope it's only a temporary shortage. I think DCC concepts are making compatible stayalives now for use with Hornby HM7000 decoders too. KMSrailtech were selling them......Sold out now though! Regards Julian

I have never had a problem with Setrack points for entrance to a Yard area were slow speed is required. I like the wagon yard area, so the Bachmann fuel pumps would go (yes rule 1 applies, it's your railway not mine)! Your old shed works well, but if you are considering a different shed, how about building a 'L' shaped shed to replace it? also were the JCB used for construction having old vacuum brake cylinders, axle sets and parts for wagon maintenance stored there? My laptop doesn't like the letter C, so either having thump c hard or rely on spellcheck 🤬keep up your good work 👍🙂

Hello, I am currently making a TMD layout. I am at the point of making a small walk to get one side to the other and was thinking of having a go using modelling clay. I have never used it before so watching what you did I found really useful. Did you have to sand it down at all and also how long did it take to dry? I have always found what you do really easy to follow and I have used a couple of your methods on my own layout. Thanks Tim.

  • @WHP1980s

Hello Tim, it's my first time in using the clay. I was very pleased with the result. I achieved the finish just as you saw in the update. Scrapped and rolled the clay level, filled in large pot hole's and kept repeating till I was happy with the level. Didn't sand it down. Left a fewimperfectionsn in the finish to make it look more random. It did take about 5 days to dry in the end in this cold weather. I'm in a loft and it's roughly around 15oC most of the time at the moment. I guess it also depends on how thick you go with it. Mine is about 10mm in some places. Hope this helps. Any other question, don't hesitate to as, and I will do my best to answer them. Atb Graham 🙂

Looks great. Ithink it's he gaugemaster fordhampton shed. I had been thinking about using he clay when I do my big tmd area but my only concern is if the clay is same height as rails then how do u clean the track ? As using a rubber would rub the finish off the clay ???? And as my tmd will be pretty big with a lot of detail and sheds. It wouldn't be easy access .. any thoughts on this ? Would love to know before I venture into trying it Regards Daniel.

I cleaned the rails with the edge of track rubber once I finished. Now I only need to use a cloth and some inox liquid cleaner very occasionally. Stays clean with inox. That's how I keep it clean. No problem for me. Hope that helps. Atb Graham 🙂
