    A wonderful addition. The Royal mail depot really does look very good. Just a few observations from when I worked in and out of Birmingham New St. almost daily as a Guard. Mail BRUTEs that were for Royal Mail exclusive use were coloured red, not blue. Another thing came to light at the end of the video, that is the 'tail' traffic attatched to the class 128 DPU. One van was possible but not regular, as the DPU units got very little maintenance. Two vans would have been a great struggle for the DPU. This is not a 'nit pick', just a heads up as to what was and was not back then. Regards, Paul.

    The Depot fits in nicely, nice work with the canopy, the strip you have left maybe you could make raised flower bed ,a small wall at the front leaving a small footpath if you have the room ? keep up the good work.👍

    Hi Graham, Well i must say what a superb job on the depot. You asked about detailing the area, i have worked for Rmbfor nearly 42 yrs. And done some small stints down Cardiff Central, unloading and loading More so TPO Trains. Little bits of detail, not sure of your year but the uniforms would be grey. With small tabards. There would be more blue cages, Bruts, and not so many pallets and boxes. And some spot lights, And a manager watching you. But other than that spot on, ATB to you.Stuart

    Graham some nice details there I notice a few people have commented on the railway staff. The track workers would not be wearing full orange or hard hats, the requirement to wear full orange didn’t come in until the late 90’s also red hard hats were not allowed for track workers in case they could be confused with a red aspect on the signals. In the 80’s often orange tabards were very short and sometimes tied around the waist. Also in colder weather black donkey jackets would be worn with orange section across the shoulders. Hard hats were not common in 80’s I remember when they come in and everyone was concerned they would fall off when bending over, not the case of course. In the Royal Mail depot the staff would be employed by Royal Mail and would I assume uniforms would be different. I hope you find the comments constructive.

    Royal Mail depot looks spot on, the use of the mesh fence still allows you to look across the station and adds to the atmosphere, well done with the kit bashing and lighting. You must have been reading my mind because I was thinking about cutting the units in and around roof beams and then you went and done it (great minds think a light lol). Hi Graham that looks excellent mate. It's added another point of interest to the station area. I actually think it looks great filming through the depot into the station. Great job. You can actually get barbed/razor wire from WWscenics or squire's. They sell it in small rolls either 1m or 3m. I used it in a similar situation on security fencing but also on fences around fields on my layout. It didn't cost much I got it from 1 of the shows last year, just a thought cheers Andy

    @@WHP1980s I meant to ask - how did you do the tufts of grass between the track? Did you cover that in a previous video? It’s a very small detail, but it adds a lot.

  • @WHP1980s

    @WHP1980s

    I may of shown how 🤔 in one of my very early updates. Maybe No 4 15mins in maybe. But it is quite easy. Spray a little IPA in the area you want some tufts. Then with a mixture of 50/50 PVA & water with a drip of washing up liquid. Drip in random patches with a dropper. then get your static grass applicator out and sprinkle the area with your chosen grass mix. Then when dry vacuum up excess grass and keep it for next time. Hey presto random grass tufts. Hope this helps. Cheers Graham 🙂 👍

    It's a product called INOX Stewart. It's a cleaning lubricant made in Australia. There are a few places it can be sourced in this country. One was DCC Concepts, but it's getting hard to get a hold of. It's a bit like WD40 but is food safe and doesn't dry out. It also promotes electrical contact when a fine film of it is left on a metal surface, i.e., rails. You only need a dampened cloth with it to maintain your layout. Lasts for ages. They also use it on slot cars (Scalextric cars). I hope that helps. Atb Graham 🙂

  • @WHP1980s

    Never been sure on that one, have seen many people's take on that, so not sure myself. 🤔 I may be wrong, if I am I can always change it with not a lot of bother. Seen a few discussions on the subject in the past. ???? You would think it would be much more effective facing out, but I think I've seen it mostly facing in, but I could be wrong of course. 🤔

    Always thought barbed wire top had to be facing away from public, so that no one could accidentally injure themselves if they were lawfully going past…. It was the same with embedding broken glass in concrete on top of boundary walls…

    Just found this on Wikipedia. British Rail Universal Trolley Equipment (BRUTEs) were trolleys used from 1964 until 1999 for sorting, handling and transport by rail of parcels, newspapers, etc. So in my modelling era. But not used today.
