In our society, we have a humility problem. Arrogance is praised and humility and meekness are shunned. It's why we so often have marriages that have so much toxic and harmful behavior. We need to turn to God for our healing.

Over 21 years of being with my husband I had to learn to humble myself before him (right or wrong), work on changing myself (my combative spirit) and pray for the both of us. God is a miracle worker!!! We still have work to do but we have come a long way. I 100% love my husband more today than I did over the past 21 years. It can be done, but must start on your knees in prayer (my face is to the floor). God bless

People continuously say "What if my husband doesn't respect me?" Then you married the wrong person for the wrong reasons. I'm not a religious person necessarily, however I am submissive to my husband. Why? Because it happened naturally. He takes amazing care of me, supports me financially and works incredibly hard. I stay home and keep the home clean, make him home cooked meals, run errands etc. I absolutely love to take care of him and make our house a home, and he loves to be the head of the house and take care of me. While I believe he should get the final say in decision making, he is always wanting my input and we make decisions together. You must marry a GOOD man. Do not get married for the wrong reasons. Marry someone who is responsible, who respects you as a person and will treat you like gold. Being submissive to men like that come naturally.

This may be hard to swallow for some of you, but I can tell you through experience that this is attitude and behavior towards your husbands IS WORTH IT! We married in 2003 and by our 7th year I was ready/wanting to not walk away but RUN. I has a book that told about these exact principles (from another author) on my night stand. For 2 YEARS, I was too angry to even crack the binding. When I did I only read what was expected of me because if I had read what the Lord expected of him, I think it would have broken me completely. We went through the “Love and Respect “ which is why NOW I can listen to THIS with a SONG in my heart and can tell you YES!! You won’t KNOW peace or TRUE joy outside of God’s will and THIS IS God’s will for marriage! We not only LOVE and CHERISH each other but we LIKE each other as well!!!

I enjoyed this Godly teaching. My mother, who’s now with the Lord, used to say, “Anything with two heads is a monster.” She was implying that marriage had a hierarchy; that the head of the wife was the husband, and both couldn’t rule. She knew submission was about positioning (allowing for the husband’s leadership in the household) which showed not only love and respect for God’s authority as well as the husband’s; but also the blessings benefitting the family as a whole...to maintain peace and order. My mother was a wise woman, and I’m grateful for her life lessons.

My husband says I disrespect him by not doing what he tells me to do. I ask him what that is, he tells me that I know. I do not verbally disrespect my husband nor nag him. He gets mad that I don’t. I had always made him my number 1 in my life till he continued to blame me for his failures. Only God can help our marriage. He also tells me I’m a fake Christian and I find myself hiding from him my Bible readings and studies. I love sharing the word of God with him, but he gets offended. I worked part time till he lost his job in 2011 where I started working full time to get insurance for our family. He gets upset that I’m working and not doing anything for our house. I could go on, but would like prayer for my marriage.

I promise you, it was like brightness illuminating my understanding to the point of tears. The way my Heavenly Father lovingly allowed me to see how, where, and when I did not show honor, but disrespect to my wonderful Husband. Not only that, God also allowed me to see that I have been "nagging" (such and UGLY word) him Bible Study and Prayer together. I never in a million years thought that it was nagging because it was about Bible Study & Prayer...duh! I HIGHLY recommend this powerful anointed message to anyone with an honest desire to have the marriage God had in mind. God Bless you all

frexandbera Vinc Hi! I hope you are doing well, even though this message came from a man, it's still truth. The Bible says we have to remove the plank from our own eye before we can assist our brothers (husbands) with the speck in theirs. Sure is humbling! Even the Lord washed his brother's feet and the servant is not greater than the master. I guess I will follow Christ's example. In being humble my God will lift me up higher than the ability of my precious husband. May God bless him (through me as well). Boy I love my husband! God blessed me with a man who loves me and provides for our family. I like to think my respect wakes him up and encourages his responsible behavior. Who doesn't need encouragement??? What woman doesn't want love from her man???

@ B. Vinc - Ok obviously this line of comments is a little premature but if you look at the list of sermons that Pastor Evans preaches - his next bout is to the HUSBANDS! STUDYING and not just reading the bible will bring clarity on how we are to conduct ourselves in a marriage. Now as for all of the adjectives that you used for 'deadbeat' husbands, I was in a marriage like that. I realized through not only studying God's word and hearing from my male pastor that I chose wrong! Sometimes we are so desperate to be loved that we'll accept someone who has a boat load of emotional baggage that has never been dealt with; so now he acts out all of that pinned up aggression on you. If we really listen to God and not our flesh we won't choose wrong - He knows what (and who) is best for us. Needless to say I'm still waiting on my true prince and soul mate.

Of course as women we have to adjust to the demands of now such as working outside the home, ordering pizzas for dinner occasionally... asking the husband to help with the house work etc but godly principles should always rule the home. I've had other women to tell you me you always do what your husband says ( like leave family event when he says its time to go) I say yes cause most of the time he does what I ask him to do.. a Covenant marriage creates a powerful partnership My prayers are for you rosieforChrist

@ Lu BlueReally ? So What would you do if most of the time he did not do what you ask him to do ???Do you know THE reason why a wife has to submit to her husband in everything ? How I love how the Bible is so straigthforward : because he is the head of the wife .Period.What he does or does not does not matter.

For some reason there are women that feel like being submissive means being less than, weak, having no opinion, not having your own, not enjoying life, not having an opinion. IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT

@@thisizdubfeminism pushes this mentality which is meant to destroy the nuclear family from within. When families and marriages find God, the rewards in marriage and family can be outstanding. God bless all.

When I picked apart these verses years ago- and learned a synonym for submissive was “yielding” and I found that so helpful. I often felt it was hard to put my husband in his place above me as leader of the family when he’s at work 12+ hours a day, 5-6 days a week (or more in some seasons) and he often says “I don’t know” or “I don’t care” when I try to let him have the say. But by yielding, I can manage the kids and home and when he does have strong ideas or opinions, or even demands, I am able to defer and yield to him and his authority.

Time changes everything! Thankfully, i absorbed this preaching at a time of my life that most consider old. At 67, I finally got this message. Looking back through my grandparents marriages,, all of them lacked this knowledge, even though they called themselves Christians. 2 divorces ago, my whole life would have been different had i heard this interpretation then. But now, 67 years young, I may be blessed with the chance to live it, and/or. Pass on the knowledge. Thank you, Lord! 🙏🏼😎👍

I needed this. I love Jesus and I serve Jesus and have a personal relationship with Him. But I sure needed correcting in this area, I know I am a nag, and I am set in my ways, pls pray for me, to be the wife and have the attitude and humbleness to tame my words and speak the way to my husband to where we both grow more spiritually in our marriage. I am blessed with a great man of God, and my greatest desire is to serve God and be used by God. And to be the wife to this man, that God gave me, so that it’s so strong in Gods Holy Word, that it becomes so natural to walk the way God intended me and my husband to walk in our life! Ty Tony Evans for this sermon! 🙏🏼

I am a Christian wife and I did not choose my husband. He tried dating me and I could not find anything about him that I was interested in. Long story short, the Holy Spirit, confirmed him, through him. He was still arrogant and overbearing, but I love God and decided to be obedient, knowing that If I honor God through loving and honoring my husband, God would either change him or give me the strength to deal with him, so far, the latter is true. One day I was frustrated with him and I asked the Lord why did he give me such a difficult person and he told me that through my love for God and my humbleness, he will see Christ in me. I accept it and love him through Christ in a way that I could not do carnally. I love him unconditionally. I love and honor his strength and strengthen him in his weaknesses. I was not domesticated and my motto was (I do not want anyone to ask me what for dinner). I express my feelings about that and I must say that today, I love cooking and surprising my husband with delicious meals, I thank God daily for such a turning point in my life.

I have been struggling with this for 14 years but only over the last 3 years have I understood that I am the problem because I am in the wrong role. I don't know how to fix this. Finances are in a mess, and he looks to me to fix things. But don't get me wrong, he works hard, goes the extra mile, treats me so amazing. But there are so many roles that I am in that I don't know how to get out of. Decision-making in finances, our restaurant, our children, vacations. You name it, he looks to me for the solution. I'm just asking for prayers so God may allow me to find ways of giving my husband his place back without hurting his pride but building it instead. ❤

I have been in a church wide bible study on Seven Realities for Experiencing God by Henry Blackaby. And the last Realities Obey and experience is God telling me to do something regardless of how it makes me feel or how it looks. Then me and my husband had a big disagreement and he doesn't feel respected and I have to agree with his assumption. And I just told him that I will continue to let him down but through pray and allowing God to lead me He is the only one that can change my attitude. Then i go to KZread and what do i see but a Tony Evans sermon on Respecting your husband, that is The Holy Spirit telling me i need to get it right. Thank you Lord Jesus
