    Thank you for this informative video ! I especially was fascinated with how Popular culture factored into the popularity of this wine ..I’ll have to give Moscato a go ..I’ll admit I had presumptions about it being to sweet for my tastes ..but I’ll definitely give it a go ..I love being surprised ! Cheers Mark !

    I started drinking wine with just drinking moscato. I love moscato, but now I’ve started drinking Pinot Grigio and thanks to my husband Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec.

    Thanks for sharing once again your knowledge about grapes! My story with moscato started long ago in Lemnos island Greece, where one the most fascinating variety is being produced years now. It is called " Moscato Alexandrias", no bubles no sweetness if you wish, there are very significant wineries in the island. Find it, taste it, you 'll be seduced!

    Haha thank you for making this video. I don’t drink Moscato, but I always have it on hand when non-wine drinkers or beginners are coming over for dinner. It’s easy to drink. Since I love making spicy food, it pairs really well with it.

    Thanks for watching and commenting! Moscato has its place in the grand scheme of things. Believe it or not, I'd say it's about a 50/50 split around tha world, between dry wine drinkers and sweet. You just don't hear about the sweet wine drinkers as much.

    Moscato and low alcohol wines gave me my only wine headaches. Predrink lots of water and use wine drops is my advice.

    When I was stationed in Spain I was introduced to Muscatel. I remember it being red, very sweet, and heavy. That was 30 years ago. I’ve never run acrossed it stateside.

    It was probably one of the red varieties, Moscato do Scanzo or Moscatel rojo. I've never seen a red Muscat here stateside either. Thanks for watching Matt!

    @@wine-living it may have been Pedro Ximinez sherry since I lived in the sherry region. I found some at the local Total Wine and More store of all places. I’ll be sure to report back once I’ve had a chance to try it.

    It's really nice to hear some positive comments about this great varietal... I do really like it and have to put up with incessant mockery from most wine snobs.... I get it... But let's all be nice... I appreciate a great Caymus Special Selection when it's warranted but Moscato is great for weekend day drinking in the sun!!

    Thanks! I think every grape and wine is worth talking about from a historical standpoint. Just the facts and I'll let everyone else decide what they think for themselves. I happen to love Martini and Rossi Asti. Only wine snobs judge others for what they drink, and I don't have time for them. Cheers!

    It doesn't have to be from France to be like "the original",it can be from any place as long as they used the original ingredients & way of making, which is not the case of those from the artists.

    I mean the trend change from champagne Cristal($200 bottle) to Sparkling wine with Muscatel($10)? That's traveling by Concorde jet and then changing to a rowboat across the pacific. Clueless. Asti Spumanti has never been made with Méthode Champenoise? Is it still produced using the cheap Charmat method, at least?(ferment + yeast + sugar). Or...just CO2 injection like coca cola? I'm sorry but this stuff is not even fit for Miles Raymond to pour over his head from a spit bucket.

  • @wine-living

    @wine-living

    Yup, most Asti is still tank method. And it has its place. Not every bottle has to be a $200 endeavor! Next time you have some spicy Thai food pop a bottle of Asti and chill. Price point has little to do with the joy a wine can bring.

    @@wine-living Okay, Marc I will give it a try. After all, lately I've been drinking costco kirkland wine in a "box". However, I miss a bottle of great Champagne Bollinger or even Perrier Jouet Grand Brut. I'm just too cheap nor have any great occasions to celebrate.

    typical hiphop. Sweet, is a kids drink. Youths today drink bourbon because unlike scotch, it is sweet. Young girls drink alcoholic lollie waters .So anything sweet and alcoholic like vodka based sodas.is a goer. Muscato is known in Australia as a girls drink, just sweet, and not much else.No finesse in Muscato
