These videos have been very helpful. The fact that you are structuring these as a series, instead of one-off lists like many other channels do, makes it much better for learning. Thank you.

You're welcome, and thanks for watching! I think it makes the most sense to break each grape/wine out and spend time focusing on it so that the information is retained. 🍷
Aaaaaaah the stigma of the word Zinfandel 😂🤦🏻♂️. Zinfandel and Lambrusco definitely feel like the bastard children of the wine world lol. I remember White Zinfandel and “wine coolers” as being the drink you had when you were underage and couldn’t handle beer or “dry” wine or spirits. The teenager’s Champagne if you will. Anyway, I ignored Zinfandel for many many years until I discovered Prisoner red blend. It which has a good chunk of Zinfandel in it which gives it a great balance. So now I’m more open to a nice glass of California Zinfandel with dinner haha, but I just really have to be in the mood for it 😂. Great video once again. So bummed I missed it earlier.

Thanks so much for watching!!
Probably my favorite red wine 🍷🥰
The reason I watch these videos is for two primary reasons : the are reasonably brief and to the point. Also, the wines & associated brands described are affordable and usually fall within the $20 range. I hate asking for assistance at the liquor store because they will start off recommending the $60 + bottles of 🍷and go up from there. Of course.

Thanks so much for watching! Before I became a certified Somm I was just a regular guy who enjoyed wine. In the wine business you meet a lot of snobs who drink pricey wine to show off their money and it's off-putting. I'll drink an expensive wine every once in a while but generally I buy the value bottles for everyday drinking.
I e been drinking Ridge Zins since 1985. I’m in your WTSO group and look forward to a Zin month sometime soon. Thanks.

Hi Bob, Ridge is definitely some of the best Cal ZIn out there. Would love to see some in our PWC tastings! Will put in a good word. And thanks so much for all of you support over the years.
brings light to the local grocer that needs to support greater wines like these!

Agreed. Here in Pennsylvania where I live, the liquor system is controlled by the state, which is terrible. They pretty much dictate what gets sold and distributed in the shops and for the most part, it's the mass-produced big brands. Very hard to find good, niche producers here, but whenever possible I always support the little guys. Cheers and thanks for watching!

@@wine-living i bought wine today that by state law isnt sold until 10 am which is upsetting because back in the day you know that rule was implimented to make the owner profit if you wanted wine before then you paid an uprising tax and made everyone happy.
Nice to see an appearance by Ridge Vineyards. Great video and glad to have another entry in this fantastic series!

Really like the interesting history aspect of your review on the wines. I pass the vineyards on the North fork of Long Island a few times a year.

I am like you in my knowledge or judgement of wines. But most favorite Red wine is Zinfandel. I am 72. I have sampled wines from, France, Spain, South Africa, Germany, Chile, Argentina, Australia, Portugal, and for certain California. I like wine from Paso Robles, Napa and surrounding. Predator Zinfandel is more impressive than many wines I have experienced paying much higher prices.
Thanks very much for this video. Last year, when a friend gave me a bottle of a red primitivo italian bottle, I taught that Primitivo and Zinfandel can't be the same as I was used to these rose like cheap wine! Thanks for the explanation! BTW, today I mainly drink this type of red wine!

I would like to do a new world, old world tasting of Zinfandel. We also grow it in Australia...Cape Mentelle grow it in Western Australia where the soils are sandy and dry. Cheers!
SEGHESIO cortina, home ranch .Limerick lane,Biale ,and for over the top ROMBAUER fiddletown,el dorado. Are the best
Curious about your thoughts on 7 Deadly Zins, OZV Zinfandel Lodi, and Bogle Zinfandel Old Vine
I'm a self professed zin expert. Best examples of zin I have had are Martinelli, Turley, Seghesio, & Saldo. Just go for their riservas, but even their base models are great.

Thanks for watching! As we speak I'm shooting a video about Syrah from Dry Creek Valley, which is surprisingly delicious. Turley and Seghesio are classics, as is the Ridge. Cheers and thanks for your input.🍷

@@wine-living zin heavy red blends the prisoner and 8 years in the dessert also good.
Try with comething like "tsrlyenaack" (stress on "e") kashtelanski". Just first letter was pretty wrong- the rest of pronouncing is pretty decent. Kudos on your research. Hope you come to Croatia and taste more. You can't even fathom how much there is to discover.
I agree that Zinfandel is way too overlooked.
I'm back with my latest video in this series. Where are my Zinfandel lovers? Tell me what you're up to, and ask your wine-related questions here!
Very nice video Marc. Love offerings by Ridge. There is another producer on Lytton Springs Rd known as Mazzocco. They make delicious Zins! Cheers 🍷
Great video but wish you would have discussed whether Zinfandel was a dry or sweet wine?

Good point. When I speak of most wines I approach them as though they were dry, but you're right I need to start telling people specifically whether they're dry or sweet. Thanks for the constructive criticism!

It's one of the sweetest, full bodied, red wines, but it's by no means "sweet". You'll love it. :)
Haha, you made that croatian name harder to pronounce than it actually is. It's ´tserlyenak kashtelanski'' 😄

Yep! Right here on my channel.
I just found an unopened bottle in my wine rack that I’ve had since just after I got out of high school , 1985 Berlinger white Zinfandel ,… I googled it to see if it was worth anything but can’t find if it is ,.. any thoughts ?
