I got fatty liver from sugary sodas. I cut them off and took tocotrienols by Dr.Berg's suggestion. Liver enzyme(ALT) came down to normal(25) in 3 months with only 50mg/day tocotrienols. Had the dose been 300mg/day as Dr.suggested, it would probably been less than one month recovery-time.

I love dr. Berg and I respect everything he says, but I could not do keto it was just not for me, however I lowered my table sugar intake by a lot and also change the way I eat foods, I make sure I eat a balanced diet every time I eat but i fast every other day for 24hours so fasting absolutely works!!!!! I can not emphasize this enough. I suffered really bad acne/fungal acne, for almost 2 years I was really depressed until my big sis told me to fast every other day, in one day I immediately saw results. No kidding!! Fasting works and I hope who ever reads this tries it! Not for the weak but if you want to change your health and skin it has to be done. Skin care products can only help but so much. Sorry for the long comment but I’m hoping someone reads this and it helps them out 💕

My mother wouldn't listen to me until I told her that Doctors Oz and Stork recommend intermittent fasting. I'm old enough to remember Dr. Atkins being vilified in the 80's for writing a book endorsing ketogenic diet. This was during the low fat/high carb craze. Muffins, bread, skim milk, cereal, bagels without butter, fat free everything and no eggs or olive oil... I couldn't understand why I felt better and got way better results in the gym when I ate high protein while giving up starchy carbs in the early 90's. I felt like a weirdo. Thanks, Dr. Berg! This lines up with everything I keep reading on how fasting literally transforms the body from the inside out. There’s diabetes in my family, and I am super conscious of this fact. I have had hypoglycemia since I was a kid, and the last several years by A1C blood sugar levels were creeping higher and higher toward pre-diabetic range. In the last 18 months or so, I have done 16:8 fasting with low sugar overall. My A1C is now 5.2 from 5.9 a year ago. I’m so happy with this! That’s like going from “hey, we’re gonna need to start diabetes prevention” to “diabetes, what diabetes?” But I’m still very aware of what I eat and continue to fast most days of the week. I even have had very few hypoglycemic episodes since fasting. It’s a true gift!

The coffee was not the only factor, stopping sugar, law carb and fasting helped me but I feel like the caffeine was blocking me to get my result

I would like a video on Bell’s Palsy. I honestly can’t find a video on that topic. Thank you Dr. Berg for sharing your knowledge. I appreciate you a lot!
I can confirm this information from personal experience. I suffer from both Rosacea and Ulcerated colitis, the two are intrinsically connected. Keeping away from carbs helps my gut and therefore my skin. If I have inflammation in my gut, I get inflammation on my face. If I lapse (sometimes to do a controlled study), my face breaks out and my bowels are not happy. Carb reduction, probiotics and fasting has had an amazingly positive effect for my health, appearance and general well being. Dr Berg has been a huge catalyst of this improvement in my well being, his information and connecting the dots is much appreciated.

But I've noticed that the unhealthy things they eat when breaking the fast each evening and morning wipes out any benefit accrued during the day. I've been told that a number of Muslims put ON weight during the fasting month. Fasting for around 12 hours with no water to clean out the stomach, and then over-consuming especially on unhealthy things doesn't do anything for one. Ramadan fasting is spiritually-oriented, I know, but of dubious benefit health-wise.

I have suffered with migraines, joint pain, and what the doctors assume is costochondritis most of my life. Hoping for a comprehensive series on fixing these issues as they relate to systemic inflammation. Thank you for all that you do 💚

@@Jessiewantstosee the problem with magnesium deficiency is that it can't be tested in blood easily. A special test for so called free ionized active magnesium can be done but otherwise a cell sample would be needed and good luck finding a hospital who Tests for that. But doctors can Diagnose based on symptoms. It's common because magnesium needs vary wildly from person to person and our food has much less magnesium than it used to. Also if you take magnesium but only fulfill your daily need or less, you can still get a magnesium deficiency if you have chronic illness or chronic stress, get an injury, etc. How much magnesium do you take and in which form? It's important to spread the dosage out thinly over the day too to increase absorption.

Try a green smoothie a day :) (can replace the coffee for this.. if you have gut issues, coffee on an empty stomach causes inflammation which would not be good for your stomach or skin). My go to smoothie is: Spirulina, celery, cucumber, spinach leaves, pear, grape. I've added MCT oil (coconut oil) to smoothies and it tastes great in them :) You can play around with different fruit and green combos, but if you have a green smoothie a day, your skin and stomach will thank you! (it's how I got rid of my acne for good, along with limiting inflammatory foods- so reducing dairy, wheat & cane sugar).

I really love your channel Dr Berg for general medical knowledge. I used to fast dinner daily, but I currently have acid reflux, so I should eat small meals more often. I start eating 2 eggs daily from your advice to get protein as I eat little red meats. Thank you so much for your time and information!😇🙌

Berg recommends one or two tablespoons (don’t remember; I think two) of apple cider vinegar with, or perhaps in your case, in lieu of, a meal to prevent heartburn from acid reflux. Take within ideally a 16:8 intermittent fasting schedule.

Before each meal, take a teaspoon of Apple cider vynegar and you will improve your reflux. I suffered and I improved a lot with it. On the other hand, for me is working great to have 2 big meals a day, the breakfast and the lunch. Once you improve your reflux, you can try to eat more in less meals.

Doc, everything I learned about a healthy diet over the last 45 years has been completely antithetical to my physical and outward appearance of health and well-being. Since I turned 53 I’ve gained 30lbs…I’ve been a skinny Minnie all my life..and did the traditional calorie in, calories out, small meals, low protein, high veg and grains diet, lots of exercise ..but started to pack on the pounds…around my waist..and bottom! this system was putting weight on and creating inflammation in my joints , bloating, spider veins etc.. I’ve been watching your vids for some months now, and have been slowly adjusting my diet and lengths of fasting. I fast about 16-18hrs a day; drink lots of water and lime. I walk as much as possible and do short periods of core exercises.. Last week I pretty much went on a meats, seafood, eggs, animal fats, dairy and greens diet and ditched sugar and carbs. I was never really a sugar person but I like to bake bread, but not necessarily eat it after the first slice. I thought giving up potatoes would be hard, I like them roasted with cream…still do. But I’ve lost 3 lbs and have noticed my face and the appearance of my skin is starting to look less dry..it’s improving. I’m not as puffy, ankle swelling is almost gone and I’m feeling better and sleeping better. I’ve tried to convince my mum to try it too, but she’s not ready to give up carbs and she still believes in the diet doctors recommended so long ago is best, even though she’s getting heavier..Perhaps when she can see my results by taking your diet recommendations to heart; she’ll give it a try… Thank you for your amazing advice..

Thanks Dr. Berg for mentioning "Ramadan". Muslims fast 30 days on month of Ramadan as a mandatory fasting. And 3 white days every Lunar month and Monday and Thursday every week as voluntary fasting plus other voluntary fasting is very common practice through out the year. Fasting is the best solution!
Thank you dr. Berg :D I have psoriasis. And I spotted that also - I started eating 2 times a day 1 year ago (thanks to your channel). And when I was in Amsterdam in June me and my friend were eating 3 times a day, but we were walking at least 15km a day. Both things made my skin clear - less frequent eating and highly above average physical activity. Not to mention, in Amsterdam, cannabis. I've seen that certain cannabinoids must work for clearing skin, since it boosted the clearance. Concerning carbs - what works for me is less than 100g a day. I try to avoid them, but I'm only human, so sometimes strong will fails :P
Already when I was a kid, in the 60s, my father was fasting at least once a year. But he was drinking water. I tried Ramadan when I lived in Egypt for a year, but I drank water. I lost a lot of weight and felt good.
Congrats on the video quality of the channel. We can see the hard work
Thank you so much Dr. Berg for all the priceless info you give us. I started the Keto diet with fasting about three weeks ago. My stomach was giving me fits.. pain and diarrhea 😱… my Doc said to add fiber capsules and that would take care of it. After two days everything was working again. I’ve lost 11 pounds and fasting is no problem.. you are right about just not being hungry. Thank you so much🥰
I have a stressful job and I can’t imagine what will happen to my health if I’m not doing intermittent fasting. I simply do not eat between 8pm and 12pm and eat normal amounts of food and even desserts for lunch and dinner. I lost 20 pounds within 2 years and I feel that my my body can handle stress better. I also used to have a very hard time waking up early for morning meetings but I find I have so much energy that I’m even able to do yard work in the early morning. I don’t usually comment on youtube but I’m writing this to help convince people that intermittent fasting is not only the best you can for your health but also that it is not difficult to sustain at all.
Thank you Dr. Berg, I really appreciate you & look to you for better health. Please continue the good work you are doing on KZread. I don't get this kind of help anywhere else! Your content is always so helpful and informative ❤ I’m on my way to have a healthier skin and life
I also love all the videos, it is great to hear about the science behind and get to understand how our body is acting and reacting under certain conditions... however, I have a couple of queries, namely, is really good to fast for more than 16 hours also for women? Because I have got to understand in all these years I am taking a closer look at all these processes in our body that women do function way differently than men... for men it might be healthy to fast for a long period of time, but what about women and our hormones e.g. I do strongly agree with fat intake and no snacking in-between meals, I am just afraid that maybe with fasting some aspects are forgotten or taken out. Could you please comment on that? Thank you a lot in advance 🙏

I appreciate you telling me what causes them and what I can do about it. I have actually moved away from using doctors for chronic issues due to not only this doctor's response but others that have actually misdiagnosed me. What you wrote about moving away from doctors for chronic issues resonated with me. Somewhere I read a comment a few weeks ago where a person wrote about being a biologist. He stated he used to work for a pharmaceutical company and that he will never see a doctor for a chronic illness. This person said that doctors are trained to only push drugs and that pharmaceutical companies incentive this while nearly enforcing it. Western medicine is great for trauma care, but not chronic illnesses or natural remedies. They don't teach healthy diet or holistic practices in medical school.

@@josephdockemeyer6782 You are correct, Joseph. M.D.s only learn about prescribing pharmaceuticals for particular symptoms in medical school and that's the only treatment you will receive from them. They only treat symptoms. They never bother to find the cause of the symptoms. Using natural medicine and diet are the best way to fix what ails you. I agree they're good with trauma care, but not anything else.

Hi Dr Berg, I want to talk about my case in particular. After returning from holidays overseas, having gained 5 KG in 1 month, I decided to start intermitent fasting as a quick way to lose weight. I have been suffering from cystic - hormonal acne since my teenage years to this days, I just turned 34 years old. It turned out that after one month following a 16/8 diet, my skin started to clear up, and now, after 4 months following this routine, my breakouts have been reduced around 90%. It has been mindblowing to see how changes in your diet that ultimately affect your sugar levels can cause such dramatic changes in acne sufferers. I highly recommend anyone suffering from this type of acne to try out either to cut sugar from their diet, or simply schedule their meals into intermitent fasting periods, it has saved me from going into harsh medication such as isotritoin or roaccutane or having to spend thousands of dollars in other invasive skin treatments.
