++++ The recordings from vinyl you are listening to were done like so:
Turntable: Yamaha GT-2000 (Giant And Tremendous!)
Cartridge: Benz Micro GOLD w/retipped nude micro ridge stylus and boron cantilever
Phono Stage: Lehmann Black Cube SE Phono (MC stage)
ADC: Schiit JIL
Cables: all custom
No EQ on the pre-amplifier in-between - these are straight rips from the MC stage---ADC---laptop (Audacity).
Conversion : FLACs processed in foobar2000 for ReplayGain/audio volume matching *only*.
Volume matching for YT: video pre-processed with Auphonic so all video audio levels matched again (Loudness Normalization to -14LUFS), before upload to KZread.

I have the USA edition laser etched A&M records sp 4822 #sample 2 I picked up 8 years ago or so. I picked it out over the others, the Japanese version #sample 5 also sounds the same to my ears. these versions seem to command the best price on discogs also. except for the NZ special limited number version.
I have the original Oz pressing and the Oz laser etched.....always been happy with the sound of the 1st pressing. I don't play the laser etched but it does sound ok. From these samples, the first one, the 40th anniversary remaster sounded a little disappointing....but in fairness, it was a small sample.

I think it's hard to top the OG Aussie first press from 1980. The remastered pressing sounded overly compressed which is a shame. A very mid heavy track you choose for comparison. Was fun though. Thanks for putting this together 👍

Yeah I agree Steve - hard to beat that AUS 1st for clarity and definition. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Is the anniversary edition worth the premium price?

That's the question Robbie - if you like the remastered sound, probably, yes. Prices for new albums are at an all-time high, so if that doesn't phase you, I guess it is value. For me, right now, I'm buying virtually nothing brand new - it's just too expensive and we are at the very top of this crazy vinyl market.

I don't know which one was best, but the third was the worst.
