Split Enz 1980 Laser-Etched Vinyl
In 1980 the New Zealand band Split Enz put out an album called True Colors. The album itself was successful and groundbreaking for the band. But it was also groundbreaking in another way, it was one of the first albums to have laser-type etching in the vinyl itself. In this video we look at the record and discuss it.

Perfect... I love Split Enz! ❤️💕🎤🇧🇷
There are also different album covers. The one I have is blue/purple.
The Natalie Imbruglia hit you couldn't remember was 'Torn'.
Then there is all the Tim Finn & Neil Finn solo records + Finn Brothers two albums etc
For me it was Eddie Rayner.
I seem to remember an article back in the day with Styx and it mentioned that the laser etching was done as a way to be able to distinguish from counterfeit albums because in the late seventies and early '80s lots of groups were ripped off because of counterfeit albums similar to the led Zeppelin 3 Chinese version that you showed the other day

That's really interesting. Too bad it didn't catch on because it added a super cool element to the vinyl experience.
Did you also know that Tim briefly joined Crowded House during the “Woodface” album?

@@3randomrecords yes, they had a very interesting creative dynamic with their relationship for many years.
Nigel Griggs is from England. The rest of the band is from New Zealand.

@@cf8545 yes that’s true. I didn’t remember to mention him because he was only with the band for part of the time.

Nigel Griggs was not in the original band. He joined later.
You guys should definitely not lump NZ artists in the same bracket as Australian. You perhaps could also check out other New Zealand bands such as th’ Dudes, Dave Dobbyn and The Clean, also Don Mcglashin.
I’m surprised you even know what TikTok is……. 🤪🤪
