Just order my Barton shifter and VMP tune for my 16 GT. Planning on installing everything this weekend. Can't wait! Looking forward to your follow up video. Thanks for all the input on the Barton shifter, it really helped.

Awesome Jeff! Barton is an awesome shifter!👍🏻 I have the first gen Barton shifter in my 2012 mustang gt when I got it used (certified program) thanks to the previous owner and also has the two post bracket! Never have had any problems with the Barton after 3 years of ownership! It's a little notchy but positive and I pretty much never miss a gear and throw is perfect😉

vwdarrin just got it in tonight and am really happy with it so far. I got the spring setting spot on for what I was looking for.

Body mount is the main problem with any shifter. If you don't understand that you will never have a great shifting trans. So many non mechanical guys giving how to videos. The MGW is the best complete shifter system. The Blowfish mount is next if you want to keep your stock shifter.

Dude you need to trans mount it. It's a lil more buzzy in your hand but the connection and the shift is awesome. Just look at the difference between the body mount shift linkage and the trans mount linkage setup. That should be enough to convince you. My Barton hybrid 3 shifter is one of my top mods next to the Paxton.

Coyote 5.04 it's not hard to add the trans mount at all so it's definitely a possibility. Body mounted this thing is night and day over stock for me though and has already accomplished everything I was looking for.

How bad is the vibration? I daily drive my car and I’m putting in a trans mount bushing along with the shifter. So I’ve been in between on which way to mount it.

At first I missed the pull up style reverse after installing my MGW. But, after having it on now for about 6 months I like the push down method much better. Also, body mounting it will still be shitty. Do yourself a favor and trans mount yours. MGW compact race spec is also lighter and comes assembled.

Hi Jeff，I bought my Barton hybrid 3 as well, but I have installed yet. I'm still debating which mounting option to go with. I want less nvh. But trans mount is superior. CJ pony parts video said the the trans mount has very minimal nvh. Idk. I'm still debating. What's ur thoughts? Any first impression once u finished installation?

107628 duke107628 I just got it installed tonight and it feels great. I went body mount to start and I absolutely love it so far. There are cars with the Barton assembly that have run 8s with it body mounted and it's night and day for me over the stock assembly. It isn't difficult to change it to body mount down the road either.

Jeff Ashton my main goal is to get rid of the 1-2 metal clunking feeling from stock shifter. How's the body mount get rid of that?

Wait, I just picked up a ford racing short shifter for my 15 gt (hasn't arrived yet), I don't know if I just misunderstood or what but does it not have the pull-up reverse feature?

It does. Barton is the only "trans mounted" shifter that has a pull up reverse collar. The only two trans mounted shifters on the market are Barton and MGW I believe.

hey guys do any of you have issue shifting from 4th to 5th gear where under hard acceleration it tends to lock you out from fifth gear. I have a stock shifter with steeda mount bracket installed. And would barton shifter fix that problem?

Giorgi Kheliedze I had problems with 4th gear only at higher RPMs with the stock shifter. So far the Barton has been perfect but I'll update in a few weeks when I have more seat time with it.

Jeff Ashton yeah I also have an issue only at higher rpm but 5th gear instead. I think that steeda shifter mount bracket that I installed also made it worse. cause it makes it more notchy.
