I love how Green Lantern actually agrees that it wasn’t a terrible idea for Batman to make contingency plans. After all, Sinestro was a hero turned evil, so he would probably recognize the value of having counter measures to take down heroes.

@PirateJohnson so in the comic this is actually based on, the younger heroes (kyle and wally) both sided with batman, for precisely the reasons mentioned in the video: wally even brought up an incident where the teen titans fought a mind controlled league in a then-recent flashback story. Iirc, it was mm, wally, and Kyle voting to keep Bruce on, sup, ww, aquaman and plastic man voting to boot.

Owlman was such a great and unique villain - not motivated by money or grievance, just a fascinating nihilistic vision of reality. Loved it.

One of the last projects the Legendary Dwayne McDuffie(Member of Man of Action) worked on, I will forever thank him for these movies, Justice League the Animated series, Ben 10, and Generator Rex.

My only gripe with Doom is purely because I've read the comic it's based on. In the comic, there's a much more nuanced discussion about Batman's contingencies, with half the league being on his side, with Superman being the one to cast the deciding vote to kick him out. The whole thing nearly breaks up the team, with Superman and Batman having to work together to rebuild the team's trust in each other. The movie, by contrast, ends with Superman giving Batman the piece of Kryptonite and being like "boy howdy you're 100% right Batman, I trust you to have contingencies" and like... noooooo. The whole point of the comic was Batman was right to have contingencies, but he went way too far in how he went about them (and the fact that he didn't trust the rest of the league to know he even had them, which was Superman's big issue with Bruce in the comic). Admittedly part of that is that the methods in the movie are less extreme (in the comic, for example, Plastic Man is frozen and shattered, Green Lantern is made blind, Superman is exposed to a crazy version of kryptonite Batman developed that turns his skin translucent, etc) but still. Contingency=good is such an oversimplification of the issue.

This is so true, I found it so bizarre at the end when Superman just handed him kryptonite after what he did. In the end in the comic Batman admitted what he did was wrong, in the animated movie he never even got kicked out, just decided to ditch and still got the kryptonite.

This is honestly one of my favorite animated movies

I have more of a bias for Justice League: Doom because I love how it brought back most of the DCAU Justice League voice cast to reprise their roles again for this movie, which always felt like a real fan-servicey type of treat before they gave us an actual DCAU continuation with Justice League vs the Fatal Five. Also the fact that it was Tim Daly voicing Superman in Doom makes it pretty much the closest thing we have to if he had always stayed on voicing the character in the DCAU Justice League series instead of being replaced by George Newbern. Of course I love the premise of Doom as well and the idea of Batman's need to have contingencies for even his trusted allies having more fatal consequences than intended when they fall into the wrong hands. Crisis on Two Earths has a lot of good stuff in it too, especially Batman vs Owlman, though for me it also feels more awkward to watch knowing in the back of your mind that it was originally meant to be a movie for the DCAU Justice League that they ended up having to change just enough to make it stand more on its own, yet it's still left with things that you can tell were always intended to transition into JLU such as working on the teleporters for the new watchtower and expanding the league with new members. Doom feels more standalone by comparison because you know with that one they had to write the movie from scratch after dusting off and reworking the script for an unproduced DCAU Justice League movie for Crisis on Two Earths.

The William Baldwin Batman voice is fine not great but fine

I love how watching just one of your video essays introduces me to new Justice League films I haven't even heard of, much less watched yet. Gives me new expansion on my own home media catalog.

Super Woman doesn't have a lasso because this one isn't either Diana, Lois, or Donna. She's a version of Marry Marvel. Which is more obvious with her made men be variants of the Marvel Family.

I was very confused about Superwoman until I realized she was an evil Capt Marvel/Mary Marvel counterpart as well because I didn't much about the Marvel family at the time- just Billy. So she's not an exact counterpart to Wonder Woman power-wise.

One thing I can point out is that the Crime Syndicate is from Earth 3 and has been in play since the 1960's. If you like Crisis on Two Earths, you should try the graphic novel JLA Earth 2.

What I always loved about this Superman was how he had the same stoic sincerity as Adam West's Batman.

I've seen all the DC animated movies , special presentations , elseworlds , all of them . And I love this movie ! It's for sure one of my favorites, I'll be watching crisis on infinite earth's tonight, and I'm sure it will be right I there with my favorites!

I'm sure this has been mentioned, but Superwoman is not Wonder Woman's counterpart. She is a Mary Marvel counterpart, like the "Made Men" that work for her are Marvel Family counterparts. That's why she has no lasso.

I like how u tackle the idea of the contingency plan for batman is the justice league. Instead of, hes so perfect it takes basically a god n more to beat him. Its more he trusts the league to stop him if he ever gets turned etc. Its nice to hear instead of the typical bat cock stroking

The thing I preferred about JLD over the comic is how the plans Vandal Savage used were much more lethal In the comic Ra’s uses Batman’s plans to the letter so they’re lives weren’t in danger while the movie his plans were tweaked to kill the League instead

16:18 I think it's not the worst though. It's clearly a more experienced batman since this WAS intended to be a gap bridge between the Justice League shows. And even if it wasn't it's at a point where the Justice League has new members and what I'm trying to get at here is Batman is clearly shown in a lot of depictions to be a more softer, mellow character and symbol of "hope" as he ages. He could still do the intimidating stuff I'm sure but in this movie he fought literal equals lmao. Ain't no scaring owlman or something lol. So it makes sense that his tone is more neutral. But idk

The TV show showed the League forming for the first time, it was Stewart not Hal. Hal exists, but he's not a main Leaguer. He might not even normally be a Lantern until AFTER Kyle and Stewart because Kyle's origin in the Superman show and look are more reminiscent of Hal until his redesign in one of the kater DCAU movies, which also shows by then Hal IS now a lantern.

Crisis on two Earth's is best jla animated movie. In my opinion.

The lack of Super Woman's lasso confuses you? Like Queen Hippolita would ever give those treasures to this her. Unless she is alt U Wonder Woman, she would be unlikely to even know the lasso and bracers existed.

I too am not a fan of Mr. Baldwin as Batman. He sucks and when I was younger and first saw the movie, I was VERY disappointed at what voice came outta that model. Now…James Woods was a surprise for me personally because I grew up with him on Family personally. Hearing this from him was honestly terrifying. There’s nothing more to say about Doom other than it’s perfect to me. No “flaws” get through to me lol it’s just perfect! Awesome video man! Oh and DEAD GRANDMA!!!!

You should really check out the comic about Earth 3 and how they come over and invade Earth Prime and try to take it over it's way better than this movie a lot of things wrong compared to the comic book it's based on

Super woman is not a counter part to Wonder Woman, she is a counter part to Mary Marvel, a member of the Shazam Family, hence why her team is made up of marvels. The woman with the spear was the counter part to Wonder Woman

That's not confirmed just an assumption based on art style and nothing else. Not the case for Teen Titans and The Batman, not the case for various animated projects that looked close to DCAU. But very common misconception.

These movies seemed so second rate coming right after the DCAU

Doom was actually one of the worst for me. Did not like the methods of stopping the justice league seemed half baked except for Martian Man Hunters plan. I definitely think the book got it right based on what you said around their methods but the methods in the movie spoilt the whole movie. Makes me think why did they change it.

Supermans voice from crisis on 2 earths didn't fit him at all. He sounds way to old and him sounding southern doesn't work considering he's from the mid west not the south.
