One of my favorite details is that despite Star Sapphire having a grudge against Green Lantern, her plan doesn't actually involve him dying. It shows that Carol on some level still cares about Hal.

She never really was one to kill Hal, but always did want to hurt him as her ring power of love did elevate her own feelings towards Hal to be in a more volatile/hostile state.

I think she didn't kill Hal cause of the plot. Cause all of the villains could have killed the heroes. Like, Bane could have shot Bruce instead of burying him, Metallo could have easily killed superman after shooting him, Malafa'ak could have also killed J'hon while he was on fire.

There is a whole video on Bruce explaining each plan out in detail for every member of the League. I watched it and I was not surprised that he included himself in those plans. Bruce did have a point though. The injustice universe proves it.

Great choice for a reaction Krystalogy. One thing I like the most about this film is the amount of conflict that is created because of Batman and his contingencies against nearly every hero on earth, really shows how untrusting he is towards the people he cares about even to his closest friends like Clark and Diana, even himself. I would also kindly like to recommend some other great animated films like Superman vs The Elite, All-Star: Superman, Green Lantern-First Flight, Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths etc...

What about Batman/Superman Apocalypse? this movie is so underrated it's sad. The fighting choreo in this is CRAZY, animation and story are great as well. That WW and Barda vs Furies scene is epic choreography wise

@@GattsBerserkArmor Completely agree. I think this film really embodies the the reason for Superman's restrain against killing and how much more humble Superman is. I often hear people say that Superman is too overpowered and with that power he rarely does use that power to kill criminals or end crisis's faster (i.e. The Elite) , but the reason he doesn't is because that cynical mindset only fuels violence and Superman is terrified of the violence he could bring but never stops to remind himself that everone matters in this world and that there will be no true change in humanity if we continue to seek violence on others and rather we should aspire to be our better selves because at the end of the day, Superman cares so much about us to always help us, teach us, inspire us... If someone like him cares, then why can't we all. Just one of the reasons Superman is my favourite superhero.

This movie was the last movie written by Dwayne McDuffie. He was one of the writers that made the Justice league animated shows a success. This movie, crisis on two earths and All star superman was the last movies he did before he died. He wanted to make the characters more human and have human interactions.

He definitely was the GOAT of the JL writers in the animation department...

I love Hal’s moment with Carol after taking the gem when he says, “I do keep hurting you, don’t I?” It gives so much more character to Hal, showing the emotionally pained side of him he always hides behind his arrogance and pride.

“Maybe I could move the earth out of the way?” “If we had a week I couldn’t list all the reasons that wouldn’t work”

Fun Fact: Carol Ferris is a love interest of Hal Jordon, their not exactly a ex-couple they just have a "will they or won't they" type of relationship (she's a on-off love interest of Hal). She used to be a villain but recently (In like the mid to late 2000s) Star Sapphire became more of a superhero now and there's a whole Star Sapphires Corps with multiple bearing the Star Sapphire power (Like the Green Lanterns). Star Sapphires power comes from love if you're wondering btw.

@@milkiassamuel780 Yeah I know but to be more precise I actually hated how these chararacters were written, more so than the characters themselves, as I thought it was way too caricatured and found it weird that this is the one and only corp that is female only and totally evil (except for the young one but she is immature and naive so not much for a nuance here).

Fun Fact: The voice actors for the movie previously worked in Batman, Superman, and Justice League: The Animated Series; Kevin Conroy as Batman, Tim Daly as Superman, Susan Eisenberg as Wonder Woman, and Michael Rosenbaum as the Flash. Also, Metallo (the robot) is not made out of kryptonite but he is powered by the crystal.

I really like how Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are designed in this movie. I love that Superman was the only one who trusted Bruce enough to give him another contingency against himself even after all this. One of the better character moments for Superman in the animated movies.

Malefic is Martian Man hunter’s evil twin who wiped out the Green Martian race. He’s Young Justice but as Megan’s sibling. Star Sapphire/Carol Ferries is Hal’s main love interests and boss. She’s part of the Violet Lanterns, she was possessed by an evil alien queen to fight Green Lantern. Now she’s a hero and they’re both a couple again.

Vandal Savage is one of DC's greatest Villains Perhaps you know him by his other names: Pharaoh Khafre, Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan, Edward Teach better known as Blackbeard and they were all Vandal Savage

This film really made me understand why Hal is important to so many people as Green Lantern. (I always thought John was the best Green Lantern and still do) Hal deep down is someone who is fighting against his own lack of willpower for when he can’t help people. It really made me understand that Hal is deeply passionate about trying to keep the world safe.

Thank goodness kry realized that Batman was right to have those plans..it's irresponsible not to have such plans and Batman explained why..glad Hal saw the big picture as well.

Fun fact in the comic book version of these events Batman has a list of contingencies for him self in these are what are on his list. I believe number one is a gun as he says he can get shot in the description. Number 2 throwing his parents a murder in his face the description for that that he puts is simply he can't handle his own parents murder still. 3. Any weapon that can harm any human. 4.And I think it's either Superman or the Justice League as a whole

Really makes me appreciate how Superman understands this and tries to negotiate as best as he can, as he cares so much for others that he will go and comfort a depressed man or a suicidal teenage girl for days (All-Star Superman) just to give hope to the to keep on going, all just because its the right thing to do. One of the reasons Superman is my favourite superhero.

I feel like the justice league would get over it fast and probably vote for him to stay. But Batman left before they even talked about it because he is a loner who doesn't want to be fully on the justice league like in some other mediums at the time. Having contingencies is fine but having secret ways to take out your what are practically co workers is a little messed up.

I get choked up every time I think about that scene where the guy says "Nothing matters." and Superman says "I'm going to have to disagree with you, sir; everything matters, everybody matters."

This movie was based on the comics story JLA: Tower of Babel, where Batman's contingency plans were stolen by Ra's Al Ghul rather than Vandal Savage and some of them were a LOT more cruel.

The animation is far better than the other previous movies you've reacted to. I also enjoyed the voices as a few of them are voice actors from previous animated series (mentioned in the comments by others below). Nice reaction. 😊

Rogues is a universal term for all dc villains, a phrase that predates dc comics. Flash's villains just use it for their team name.

The Legion of Doom has alternate iterations with different members. But it's always one arch nemesis of each Justice League member. Like Lex Luthor, Joker, Black Manta, Cheetah, Sinestro, Gorilla Grodd, Black Adam, etc.

Absolutely agree and I agree even more that Bane is perhaps Batman's second greatest adversary as not only does he possess peak physical strength, but he is also a tactical and strategic genius with a calculating mind on par with Batman. Not to mention that the character has one of the most brutal origin stories I've seen and is quite a complex character. These are just some of the reasons why Bane is one of my favourite DC villains. I do wish we one day get an animated adaptation of Knightfall or Vengeance of Bane storylines, to show the character at his best. I also hope we Bane again in live-action as I do believe Dave Bautista would nail it as Bane and already has a lot of love for the character and idea of how he would portray him.

Much like the Green Goblin, him knowing Batman's identity and never attacking him or blowing up his house randomly is just a plot hole. Both of them more or less stopped attacking Bats and Spidey in the 2000s. Before new 52 and One More Day allowed things to be more close to the old stories, and thus less problematic.

They were a couple but then broke up. The raw Star Sapphire gem possessed Carol and turned her into evil Star Sapphire. In most comics, she's given the Star Sapphire Ring aka Violet Lantern. Star Sapphire ring uses the power of love. Carol is chosen because of her great love for Hal Jordan. Nowadays, they both got back together and Carol uses that power for good.

I am amazed at how much Geoff John's expanded the Green Lantern Corps mytho's in the DC Universe incorporating amazing new characters, worlds and fascinating themes as Geoff John's run on Green Lantern has to be some of his best work and one of my favourite on going storylines in DC Comics. I also think Green Lantern First Flight (2009) does a great job at exploring the Green Lantern Corps and the cosmic side to the DC Universe as well as exploring the character of Sinestro very well as a very complex character. Also television shows like the Green Lantern Animated Series (2011) did a fantastic job at adapting most of these Corps and would've loved to have seen how they would've explored further with the Sinestro Cor

Superman and Hal understood the contingency plans. Plus, Superman loves Bruce like the brother he never had. So he's most likely willing to forgive bruce. Especially with that last conversation at the end.

Yes, even in injustice game universe before all that tragedies superman and Batman were best friends. Superman considered naming Batman as godfather to his and lois child. He even trusted Batman to stop him by providing means to kryptonite weapons. But, the thing is superman was so far gone into his trauma of that tragedy and while superman was feeling that pain and decided to take full justice in his hands, Bruce lost Nightwing by Robin (which happened accidentally). So he couldn't fully help superman in his darkest hours. Clearly they suffered so much, because of it.

actually after vandal Savage got the plans he altered them to be able to kill them Batman‘s plans for more to either contain immobilize them for a period of time until he can figure out how to help them because that also happens in the comics the plans were altered to kill them but Batman‘s were detail on how to contain and or incapacitate them in case something was to happen so he could help

@@andrewjalice8649 Technically sure, but even then many of them are basically just "do something that would kill them, but also save them from it", like there is not that many ways to do the Flash-bomb thing or shooting Superman non-lethaly beyond "turn the bomb off when he get's too tired to run, but hope he doesn't slow down first" and "just make sure Sups survives the shot".

This is probably one of my favorite JL movies.

There is an audio clip made for this movie which goes into every contingency plan for the JL members. It's pretty interesting to listen to.

i wish there was more animated movies with Star Sapphire. Carol is like Catwoman to Batman. a bit of bad to good, still kind of in love with the hero type story. i highly recommend you look her, and the other lanterns, up. The Green Lanterns stand for will, so they broke Hal's will to go on. the Star Sapphires are the violet lanterns. they stand for love and are the only all female corps. yellow lanterns are powered by fear, red is rage, blue is hope, indigo is compassion, and orange is avarice. as long as were in the holiday season, there is an awesome Orange Lantern holiday special story you may like reading.

There was no old lady. I was a hologram. Mirror Master is like Mysterio. He uses holograms to trick you.

Malefa'ak is Martian Manhunter's evil brother in comics. Fire is his "kryptonite" because it reminds him of gus homeworld that was burned down and destroyed, killing most of his people.

Can y'all honestly say that after watching this movie y'all are comfortable with the fact that a theatrical, live-action movie featuring the Justice League vs the Legion of Doom or even The Avengers vs the Masters of Evil has never happened and the possibility that it probably won't happen? Or am I the only one who craves a superpowered battle royale with actual stakes? (The airport battle between The Avengers don't count and neither does the Muir Island battle between the X-Men and Brotherhood cause it wasn't as concentrated on team-on-team 😆)

The villains in the beginning are the Royal Flush Gang. As you can see they are based on playing cards. Ten is usually the big guy and Ace is usually the younger girl.

Nope Bruce trust nobody. That's kind of his main character flaw. It's also how Bane beat him originally. Sent out all these criminals to tire Batman out for days then fought him and broke his back because he knew Batman wouldn't trust anyone else to handle it. Man has a lot of problems. Also if you want the science behind the flare hitting anything else, next solar system is 4.35 lightyears away or 41,154,000,000,000km away or 3,229,791,241 Earths away if you stacked them in a line. So I doubt it'll reach.

Next you should react to Justice league Crisis on two Earths. It is so good it is the best second only to Flash point paradox imo

Don't forget to check out the recently released INJUSTICE for some more jaw-dropping moments of DC animated action gone seriously sideways. I loved that one.

I particularly really liked her interpretation in the Green Lantern Animated Series, and this film had a pretty good version of her, even as a villain.

You can tell she’s thinking of cosplaying that character in the future.

It's not that they don't understand the need for contingencies, but that batman made them behind their back. It is a complete breach of trust. Imagine for a moment. You have a friend who is a high level special operations soldier, and you are afraid he could one day use his skills and knowledge for selfish reasons. So instead of talking with him about ways to prevent him from misusing his abilities. You precede to stalk his movements and actions, secretly scope out his home for potential ways to infiltrate his house, evaluate his friends and family for potential ways to undermine or manipulate him, and devise ways to lure him into a trap where you can paralyze him ("Neutralize, not kill" as Bruce puts it) to eliminate the threat he might become. Does that sound like a complete breach of trust? Does it sound like a psychopath? It should lol. Obviously this is an exaggeration, but what Batman did here was unethical, moronic, and completely psychotic.

Batman's plan to stop himself was the Justice League If the Dark Metal Universe is any proof. That plan doesnt always work

You don't have to worry about other planets. Space is really really big and the planets don't line up. :-) The line about Superman moving the planet is a inside comic book joke. When I first started reading comics there was a story where Superman moved the planet a few feet. Batman is pointing out how that isn't as simple as it sounds. This story is an adaption of The Tower of Babel in the JLA comics. There are a few minor alterations mostly with the featured characters such as in the comics the villain was Ra's al Ghul, but it's a fairly faithful to the general plot. A few other character changes to use more familiar versions of the heroes who were not around when the comics was written. This is one of the better Justice League stories. Glad you enjoyed it.

"You need a contingency plan, like brain washing"... Well if you ever decide to check out the comics, this was something that happened in the Identity Crisis storyline that wasn't adapted to animation.
