Hey everyone! If you want a possible sequel to this video, check my most recent community post! Thank you!
For me, playing B3313 for the first time felt like... Playing Mario 64 for the first time as a kid once again despite being an adult by now, the wonders of exploring a game that seems huge, finding out what's behind certain doors, digging deeper and deeper into the plexus, it really felt like being a kid again.

I agree. I briefly mentioned how the levels are now so big and make someone uneasy, but in reality I think it opens up how big we imagined them to be. To think that these sprawling levels in the mod could have been what we thought is insane. Thanks for commenting!
"Even if the game has never changed, you personalised the game yourself." this is a really nice summary of why "every copy is personalised" is such a strong phrase to me. To me it's never been about lore, or an AI, or anything like that. It's about the fuzzy thoughts of possibilities and dreams filling in the gaps in my real memories, making those hoaxes and rumours and B3313 itself feel so familiar yet so alien.. like I might have been there before in a dream, or in my false memories. Nice video, great work
Mario 64 was a safe space for me as a child, my childhood was tough so i do remember just playing all day to evade my own reality. As an adult now playing b3133 was a healing experience for me, It helped me come to terms with myself and face all the shit I went through because it allowed me to clarify and see in more depth all those memories of nostalgia reliving them through b3313 removing that pink color and allowing me to see all the shit I went through and why i blocked all those memories in my mind B3313 is not really deep, it knows how to play with one's memories but the experience that each one lives with this hackrom is what gives it that touch, that vibe of mystery and fear, without any specific dialogue I was able to confront myself and face all the traumas that i lived and decided to ignore for all this time. Even after having remembered all the things I experienced, I can still look fondly on Mario 64 and everything that helped me during my childhood. So I want to thank all the people who had a part in the creation of this hackrom. Thanks for such a wonderful job Thank you so much for everything.
its funny to me how a horrofic entity taking control of a game is more believeable then AI existing back in the 90's

Nintendo 64's F-Zsro X had an IA that rearranged the game's assets to create new tracks. The same that the Mario 64 AI is supposed to do. I hate that people just chuckle at it where it's actually possible AND REAL!!!
15:25 This is from Mario RPG’s forest maze, none the less, good video!

@gentlemangamerec7025 this is extra funny now considering the upcoming remake lol.
I remember playing through all of this just wrapped up in a blanket with my girlfriend she just watch with me as I just ramble on about how weird the game felt i loved the game a lot.
I was lucky enough to have played this back in the day through my best friend. It was really a game that sparked imagination on every level. I will be playing this rom, if not for anything else just to remember how early gaming used to be, without all the completionism, the achievements and the optimizations. Just pure fun and exploration.

Glad you are checking out the mod! I think while there are games that have the exploration aspect (Yume Nikki), I have never seen it done in a true platformer. Hope you enjoy it!

@@gentlemangamerec7025 Just one more suggestion since i have heard people praise it and i have had fun with it is a romhack called "Elise64" which is basically the story of a young girl trapped in a dream. Its a cool little hack and also people say it contains similarities with yume nikki in its concept so definitely check it out as its almost all exploration/story plot with basically almost no difficulty or platforming involved.

Everyone's upset about the Forest Maze mistake but here I am more concerned about the game at 9:42 being labeled as "Waverace 64" I don't know what that game is but it's NOT Wave Race, lol.
I think the most powerful part of the game was when I was in one of the wet dry world levels, and I went over the metal fence gate thing that takes you down to the town, only to be teleported to a new level. The walk though the long tunnel as the big town slowly being more visible Through the orange fog as the dry town track played. And then this very somber track, with the droning of the Jolly Roger bay melody as the underground motif repeated on loop, only broken up with a unique bridging melody that sounds vaguely like it belonged, combined with the allusion of wet dry world’s town being represented by this big empty town with weird rainbow ride connections. It creates one of the most vivid experiences in this rom hack I haven’t forgotten after a year. It made such a sad feeling for the stage without any of the horror elements typically found, it truly carried a emotionally negative aura
This was amazing! thank you for covering my mod!

That was beautiful. The skilled and intriguing dissection of everything throughout the video had my attention in an iron grip. It almost felt like a tour through hazy history, and in the best way. In short, the three words I would describe this masterpiece with are intelligent, inticing, and succinct. You should feel extremely proud. Well fucking done.
When I started watching I didn’t even know that the video had commentary I just thought that was the whole entire video
Thank you for having me on the channel!

What a great video ! Really surprised by the fact that you only got 68 subs ! Keep it up!
Joel and Vinny also got me into the mod Soon as Vinny saw ghost mario and went "no" and then spent hours trying to recreate it I knew I had to try it
That footage of the mall and heartaches playing reminded me of a caretaker fan project video, which used the exact same mall footage. It is called something along the lines of "I'll keep holding on visual edition". The song and visuals fit so well together to create a distant nostalgic feeling.

why does yoshi make bob omb noises in the intro 🤨
@gentlemangamerec7025

My guess is to make yoshi talk, they coded in a bob-omb and made it invisible so that you could be "talking" to Yoshi. The same thing happens with a bunch of other NPC's in the game. It is weird tho
What did you use to get this filter?

Hey! I used DaVinci Resolve (the paid studio edition), and it was built in for me to use. I used a bit of warping feature built into the features and warped the screen to look like an old CRT. If you want to find similar effects online, there are some good ones, but I found the built in one more helpful.
