The best dish for snowy days - Yakut pancakes - Alaaji
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
The best food to cook during snowy days - Yakut pancakes or Alaaji!
This dish is also used in our rituals - we always leave some pancakes for spirits.
Ingredients:
1 cup of milk
1,5 cup of water
2,5 cups of flour
1 egg
1 tbsp of sugar
1 tsp of salt
Mix milk, water, egg, salt and sugar. Little by little add wheat flour and stir well. Heat up vegetable oil in a pan and fry pancakes.
If you want to do it 100% Yakut way, leave first 3, 5, 7 or any other odd number of pancakes on a separate plate. Then after you finish frying, leave the pancakes on the ground near your house to please spirits.
Enjoy pancakes with heavy cream and any jam.
Voila!

Maria has a beautiful, unspoiled soul. This is a rare thing these days. Most people are either malicious or callous as a result of external malice. Thanks for sharing your open soul with the Internet and making it a tiny bit better

Most people? I feel sorry for you if most people in your life are malicious or callous. Most people I know of are good honest people. And only a few people are malicious. And I’m sure this is the same worldwide. Just reading the comments on these videos, you can see that. I think your views are cynical.

Ahh brings back memories when my mom would suprise me with alaaji on weekend mornings 🥰 now I miss her
I love how every culture has a pancake of sorts. I'm going to try these. They seem to remind me of a yorkshire pudding. But yorkshire puddings are cooked in the oven and use more egg and we don't add sugar. Here in Scotland our pancakes are a bit different, they have a raising agent and we cook in less oil. But I am going to try these , they look really good and I look forward to sharing with my family. Hello from North Scotland!

Aye I was going to compare it to a Yorkshire pudding. My gran told me as a child they make extra when they had a roast and her favourite pudding at the time was a Yorkshire pudding with butter and jam. Amazing to see essentially the same dish here prepared a little differently. Must try cooking this for my family some time soon what a treat.

I’m pretty sure you can buy a high quality premade flour mix for pancakes at your local gourmet food store. That way you don’t have to buy the ingredients separately
Thank you for your videos. Yakutia is my birthplace, all my memories are about this beautiful land and my childhood. Now I live in Canada but I always remember Yakutia, always in my heart ❤
I love how share your Yakutia with us …. I live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was a very cold winter here. Many days it was only 7 or 8 degrees Fahrenheit. I think it even went below zero a couple of times. … Then one evening I opened KZread and saw “How We Heat our House in Rural Siberia -44 degrees”. … I have been watching with awe and respect. You do such a wonderful job. You are truly a blessing to your ancestors. Thank for you sharing your beautiful culture !
Hi👋 I'm a new fan from the Philippines 🇵🇭☺️ To be honest I'm really not a fan of a cold places because my country is a tropical country, but watching your vlogs about YAKUTIA showcasing the beauty of your country, make me want to go there ☺️ . I hope i can go to YAKUTIA someday 🙏💛
When I watch your videos, I feel relieved. Greetings to our esteemed brothers from Turkey.
I loved the tradition you left pancakes for mediators this felt thankfulness💫
These look tasty. I can almost taste them based on the ingredients!👍🏾
Excellent- they're like pliable buñuelos. Great timing, too, after our Dia de los Muertos where we give food to our ancestors and other helpful local spirits. The old ways are important to preserve.
These are just like uštipke! They're delicious. Although usually at home we use a lot less oil.
I love the ritual of leaving the offering outside for the animals! When I go to barbados this is what we do with leftovers, it always warms my soul to see the birds eating my food. I will try it the other way around one day now too :) thank you for sharing
I am Bangladeshi, love 💓💓💓 from Bangladesh.
My kiddos get these for breakfast almost every day. There is nothing that they'll eat more consistently than this. Also quite simple to prepare. Thank you for sharing!
Wow. Thank you, Maria. I've been watching a lot of videos on Yakutian culture. I certainly wish to visit it someday. You're such a humble soul. In India too, we do have a bit of Icchi, offering a bit of our food to the spirit of nature
Your videos have always such a nice, calm atmosphere. Love it. 😊
I learn to make it just from watching without even a single word spoken. :)

Great to learn about your customs.. Leaving a bit for the spirits..
This is similar to "Pişi" which is a dish in Turkey. We also use "yeast" inside the dough. I dont know if there is any rituals or something in our culture. But yours is so unique and catchy 😌

I think it is more like Fışfış we made in Turkey. It is also very smilar to Lokma Tatlısı. Pişi (pishi) is with less oil and has more baking soda and pops up more I think still kinda smilar. But this is nearly same with Fışfış (Fishfish) except fışfış is soaked into lemon water sugar mix for a few hours before eaten.
Thanks for sharing your culture and food with us! This is truly awesome!

@@annemary9680 this is their tradition and culture and has nothing to do with any kind of demonic stuff. Smilar rituals done by Koreans and in Turkey too. Sakha people are known for being kind helpful and wise they have a great culture and they have extremely low crime unlike many other countries. Sakha people are respected in Russia. Siberian people are known to be great people in Russia I met many of them including Sakhas and they were very hospitable and kind and generous. Siberian people are one of the best people on earth that is what I think after meeting with them.
