The best dish for snowy days - Yakut pancakes - Alaaji

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

The best food to cook during snowy days - Yakut pancakes or Alaaji!
This dish is also used in our rituals - we always leave some pancakes for spirits.
Ingredients:
1 cup of milk
1,5 cup of water
2,5 cups of flour
1 egg
1 tbsp of sugar
1 tsp of salt
Mix milk, water, egg, salt and sugar. Little by little add wheat flour and stir well. Heat up vegetable oil in a pan and fry pancakes.
If you want to do it 100% Yakut way, leave first 3, 5, 7 or any other odd number of pancakes on a separate plate. Then after you finish frying, leave the pancakes on the ground near your house to please spirits.
Enjoy pancakes with heavy cream and any jam.
Voila!

Maria has a beautiful, unspoiled soul. This is a rare thing these days. Most people are either malicious or callous as a result of external malice. Thanks for sharing your open soul with the Internet and making it a tiny bit better

Most people? I feel sorry for you if most people in your life are malicious or callous. Most people I know of are good honest people. And only a few people are malicious. And I’m sure this is the same worldwide. Just reading the comments on these videos, you can see that. I think your views are cynical.

I love how every culture has a pancake of sorts. I'm going to try these. They seem to remind me of a yorkshire pudding. But yorkshire puddings are cooked in the oven and use more egg and we don't add sugar. Here in Scotland our pancakes are a bit different, they have a raising agent and we cook in less oil. But I am going to try these , they look really good and I look forward to sharing with my family. Hello from North Scotland!

Aye I was going to compare it to a Yorkshire pudding. My gran told me as a child they make extra when they had a roast and her favourite pudding at the time was a Yorkshire pudding with butter and jam. Amazing to see essentially the same dish here prepared a little differently. Must try cooking this for my family some time soon what a treat.

I love how share your Yakutia with us …. I live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was a very cold winter here. Many days it was only 7 or 8 degrees Fahrenheit. I think it even went below zero a couple of times. … Then one evening I opened KZread and saw “How We Heat our House in Rural Siberia -44 degrees”. … I have been watching with awe and respect. You do such a wonderful job. You are truly a blessing to your ancestors. Thank for you sharing your beautiful culture !

I think it is more like Fışfış we made in Turkey. It is also very smilar to Lokma Tatlısı. Pişi (pishi) is with less oil and has more baking soda and pops up more I think still kinda smilar. But this is nearly same with Fışfış (Fishfish) except fışfış is soaked into lemon water sugar mix for a few hours before eaten.
