The Best Day of Dungeness Crabbing from a Dock!! I JUMBO Crab on Nehalem Bay at the Jetty Fishery!!

Ойын-сауық

We went to Rockaway Beach, Oregon to crab Nehalem Bay at the Jetty Fishery. We went super early in the morning on New Year's Eve and caught the majority of our Jumbo Crab from 7:30 am to 10:00 am and then it died out on us. This is the biggest number of crab we've ever caught off a dock in our lifetime of crabbing. It was a lot of fun and a true blessing to spend time with my Dad, girlfriend and son. Such a special day with so many memories made.
Come along and enjoy the journey with us.
Thanks for watching! Stay tuned for the next adventure!
If you haven't been to the Jetty Fishery, we highly encourage you to check it out. Tell them Northwest Weekenders sent you.

    They were delicious! So good eating them fresh. The Jetty Fishery uses sea water and some other special ingredients they wouldn't tell us about 😆

    Appreciate you for this big time! We'd love to go with you guys. Let's hit it sometime in January before the crabbing slows down.

    I was there 2 days before you were there and it wasn't very good. I ended up with 7 which isn't bad and most were big ones. No limits off the dock that day and there were a lot of folks out there. Average was about 3-5 per person. You hit a good day and weather looked great.

    The weather was perfect! We talked to some folks who were out there the previous 2 days and they said the same thing. They caught like 3 and 5. Even the day we were there the next best group had like 8 and then from there it was like 4 and then 1-2 for others. We were very fortunate. 🦀

    Wow, awesome experience! Besides the annual shellfish license, do you need to pay any other fee at this particular dock?

  • @northwestweekenders

    @northwestweekenders

    5 ай бұрын

    Yes. You pay per crab ring you rent (or you can use your own but it has to be an open ring- no pots allowed). I believe weekends are $23 for the 1st one and $18 for each one after. Weekdays are $18 for the first one and $13 for each one after. For example, when we go on the weekend and decide to use 3 rings it's a total of $59 ($23+ $18 + $18). That also includes one round of rockfish as bait for each ring.

    They are "Protoco" Slip Rings. Cheapest place we've found is Amazon but might find good deals at some coastal sporting goods stores. Ones I've heard are Englund Marina, Tillamook Sporting Goods, or Ace Hardware in Newport. Probably tos of other places but those are some we know of. Appreciate it!

    Can you bring your own pots?

  • @northwestweekenders

    @northwestweekenders

    Yes as long as they are open (rings, slip rings, hoop nets). No closed pots allowed. We used 3 of our own slip rings and 2 of their rings. 🦀
