    I got my ranger 2 years ago for 1600, 78k miles. Had afew issues but we sorted them out. Now she’s in great condition(besides afew bumps because keeping it outside the trash lid flies open and hits the hood in high winds). Now she’s worth about 6k. Combine than with my carpenters work I’ve got about 8k right now. Im working up towards a c5 corvette.

    You can get a 2003-2009 BMW Z4 for around 5-8k. I just got mine at 4.2k but it has high mileage. Absolutely love the car, they're pretty reliable and are super fun to drive, especially if you manage to find a 3.0i as I did. That M54B30 engine sounds amazing, and the low center of gravity makes it fun to toss around turns!

    I like my 2002 Chevy Tahoe. I spent 6k at a car lot, it had 186k miles and the person who owned it first hit every fender flare and scuffed both bumpers but the frame and body were both straight. It has been almost perfect for the last 3 years. My favorite part is it already has an LS. I am torn if I want to build it up as a family muscle truck or rebuild and swap the LS into something else down the road.

  • @sallychi8406
    @sallychi84063 жыл бұрын

    For me, the low-end cutoff is $2-$3K, at least before the current shortage. At that price, you can still get something mechanically sound, if you're willing to tolerate some rust, dents, foggy headlight covers, etc. I got a '96 Miata and an '06 Scion tC each for well under $3000. Fun cars, and the tC is also fairly practical, since it's a hatchback with a folding rear seat. I put a bit of money and work into the Miata, and actually made money selling it, though I wouldn't even have sold it if I hadn't lost my ability to garage it. Miatas won't necessarily have a lot of mileage, because many aren't used during the winter, and few people use them for long commutes or long trips. The most bulletproof cheaper older cars, which you didn't mention at all, would be the Toyota Corolla, Camry, and Matrix. The Yaris is probably reliable, too, and the 4-door hatchback should be somewhat practical if you're carrying some cargo. You also didn't mention the Honda Fit.

    Early 2000s Toyota Celica can be found for $2000-3000. Super reliable and decently practical and fuel efficient for a 2 door sports car. 2011-2013 Mini Cooper S is a great shout for the $5000-6000 range. Fun, practical, good on gas, and an iconic design. Honestly unlike any car you'll ever drive.

    @@brianstraining6474 I'm with you with the German and American built. As far as Japanese and Korean go, I'm not gonna have a Miata as my daily. I'm sure you can find a clean Miata with low miles under 10k that will last you a decade. A G37 under 10k will most likely have around 130k miles on -- NO THANKS. S2000 under 10k has a lot of mileage and also not a daily and I wouldn't use that as a daily. I would say the best car for the buck is a 06-08 IS250 or an IS300. It has class and could a very reliable daily. JUST MY OPINION :D

    When you don't have a lot of money these are my picks: If you love performance or trackdays buy a Honda. They sound amazing, they are really quick, they last forever, and they are easy to upgrade, fix or maintain. If you love drifitng around corners don't even think about anything else. Buy an MX-5. You can go with a BMW but the Mazda will probably last longer and be cheaper to upgrade - maintain. If you don't care that much about performance but you just want your first car so you can learn and get some driving experience, you need something cheap, and reliable. Go with Toyota. A Corolla is great little car to start with.
