As a beginner in this area I value your opinion. Thanks for another great video. This is definitely a hobby not for the faint of heart. I have found a new appreciation for the amount of dedication and time involved. And of course the money. I commend all the efforts of all the people like yourself who share and pass on the tips tricks and information needed. I am truly hooked and love every minute of this demanding hobby. Thanks again.

I did just like you mentioned in the video. When I first started doing astrophotography, I went the route of DSS (which I also recommend for beginners). It did a really good job, and still does, but I wasn't really happy with the final results and I am still learning photoshop. I gave the 30-day trial of APP a go, and after only a week of restacking older data I found out it was totally worth the cost. APP was a real game-changer for me. Tried the trial of Pixinsight, but everything about it confused the hell out of me and I could not justify the cost. I realize this is more of a me-problem than a PI-problem, as it is no doubt a great piece of software with amazing capabilities. I will definitely give it another try at a later time.

I started out in DSS but quickly moved to PI. As you mentioned they advise manual stacking. It worked great but the manual workflow would consume an entire afternoon for something like LRGB. I now stack everything in APP as I can start it for complex multi-channel, multi-session and do something else while it crunches away. Likewise, I used its light pollution, color calibration, combine RGB, and HSL for narrowband. Everything after this I take to PI.

I'm intrigued by APP, still haven't bought it yet. For my personal workflow I still go with integration in DSS and post in Pixinsight, DSS can stack multiple object as lists and spit out drizzled images without having me manually intervene, and the result compared to pixinsight is negligible when fully processed

Do u know where people get content for their regular astronomy channels? Ones that show deep space images and videos? I'm guessing it might be images that are in the public domain and free to use, or they have a license. However, I still don't know from where?
