I voted the HÅG Capisco the No.1 Ergonomic chair for digital artists & creatives. While more expensive than the standard office chair I really believe it's worth that expense, especially when you weight it against... your health! Either way, here is the Capisco Puls - A more cost effective version which is more readily available world-wide and is a great ergonomic chair with some of the same key features that made me vote it's more padded brother the best ergonomic chair the ultimate office accessory for artists!
I spent a long time searching for the ultimate chair for drawing tablet users such as us. Digital Artists, illustrators & graphic designers have different needs to many others so I created this short 5 point check list to help me find the perfect seat for my studio. Links above & bellow. I hope you like the HÅG Capisco as much as I do and I can't wait to hear your thoughts in the comments below & let me know what chair you're using!

    I got my capisco (black cloth) because of your previous video on it (I forget if I thanked you on that video for that or not, either way thank you!). It is the greatest chair, and I've been so so happy with it. I got mine used on ebay from one of those companies that sell old office furniture. Interesting to see the puls reviewed as, doing what you should never do, I was judging a book by its cover somewhat and being putt off by the looks in pictures rather than the potential practicality and cost savings. It actually look much nicer in the video than photos. . As always, thank you for the excellent video :D.

    I really like my HÅG chair because I’m smaller and most ergo chair armrests are too far away from my arms/elbows, even if I adjust them. The backrest on this chair allows me to rest my elbows on it, which helps my posture (opens the chest, as opposed to shoulders slumping forward). I like the firm cushion and that I can put my feet on the little rest areas on the chair legs. But it’s not a chair for everybody - my husband greatly prefers his Herman Miller ergo chair.

    For anyone who has this chair, does no padding get uncomfortable after sitting for over 3 hours or longer?

  • @LAWRENCEcanDRAW

    @LAWRENCEcanDRAW

    4 жыл бұрын

    You should never sit in one position for 3 hours. That is very bad for your posture and your spine. You need to continuously get up, move around and even change positions. That ability to change positions is one of the key reasons I can recommend this chair for artists. To answer your question fully however; the Norwegian wool used is far superior to the typical padding used in gaming chairs and most office chairs. It's very comfortable but you still need to keep moving around to help blood flow, muscle development and avoid long term health issues.

    Still a bit pricey especially considering it's mostly plastic and metal, the other version was understandable with the high price because of the norwegian wool and the fact that each chair is made manually, but this is mass produced so there aren't any excuses for the high price.The Alera Elusion Multifunction chair that has the most amount of adjustability in a chair that i have seen including a forward tilt( great for digital artists that like to draw on a desk for wacom intuos users) is under 300$ on some websites.

  • @LAWRENCEcanDRAW

    @LAWRENCEcanDRAW

    5 жыл бұрын

    The Alera Elusion Multifunction chair doesn't work as a chair for artists using tablets because it offers no support when you lean forwards - which is the entire point for me. I wouldn't say this is mass produced. HAG is still a small company. Thus the price, in part. Ultimately it comes down to, what are you willing to pay for the price of better posture? As someone who broke his back I see the price tag as being worth it. Especially when you have a 10 yr guarantee. The Alera Elusion Multifunction chair has a 5 yr Warranty with only 2 yr on the fabrics. I'm just adding that in there for consideration. It also has a plastic base rather than steel which is another reason I didn't like it. I did look at it first time around while I looked for an ergonomic chair but it was quickly knocked off the list. I actually don't consider it to be ergonomic at all. It only has one true sitting position with adjustments.

    Well, they ran out of stock on the Alera chair, so guess now what chair i will be ordering.....that's right the capisco pulse, one thing i'm not sure about though, are you able to use the arm rests when drawing on a desk, i like to use wacom intuos and armrests are essential for being able to draw many hours with the hand flat on a desk.

    There's nothing wrong with the price when you compare it to other ergonomic chairs and what a real ergonomic chair can do to protect your back, neck and posture while you work as an artist. Even if you get a free chair it might be doing more harm than good for your body. Especially if you are using it for many hours a day and failing to get the correct amount of exorcise as well. In fact, it's only because I spent six months to research the right chair and make sure I had equally good furniture for the studio as well as Monitor arms for my tablets etc that I could recover quickly when I broke my back a couple of years ago. In fact, I didn't even mention it on my KZread channel and nobody noticed me taking the time off because I had videos to cover it. But that proper equipment made the difference. Yes it does cost money but it also lasts too. The other thing worth mentioning is; I'd seriously be asking be what's wrong with a 1k chair that someone's throwing out? haha.

    I don't take any money for my reviews - I want to make that clear right now. I recommend good tech because I think it's worth paying for. I've bought shoddy tech lots of times and I know you can buy the cheap stuff ten times or the good tech once - It's that simple. Don't get angry on me for the cost of anything I review here or what I have reviewed. Notice I've been reviewing Wacom alternatives lately for the community! This is the more affordable version of the Capisco I reviewed before. If you want even cheaper then it's probably out there but it's probably something I wouldn't recommend using. I do a LOT of research off my own back UNPAID to bring you this content and these reviews so please don't get mad if you don't like the prices Michel. What's the chair you've found? I love Ergonomic tech as you know and 90% of chairs calling themselves ergonomic are not ergonomic. If I fold a piece of paper a certain way I could call it ergonomic but it doesn't mean it's ergonomic for artists. Let me know the name (not a link) and I'll take a link. This reply was in the trash because you put links in. Every reply with links auto-junks because of my spam filter. I normally don't retrieve or even go to read them but when you didn't respond I thought I'd take a look. That chair doesn't look ergonomic for artists who use drawing tablets - exactly for the reasons I covered in my first Capisco video. We lean forwards a lot and thus those kinds of chairs offer no support what so ever. See my point? The Capisco does. It's that simple. The only reason those Steelcase type of chairs and typical gaming chairs call themselves ergonomic is because they have a slightly shaped back and a ton of padding. That doesn't make it ergonomic for OUR needs as tablet users. The money thing. I couldn't take my family to McDonald's once a month on the KZread money! Which is why there's a PayPal donate button on my channel page (which has gotten me the grand total of $6 ever) and Patreon which gets me erm... practically the same each month. I'm not exactly buying gold teeth anytime soon from making videos. I do KZread because I enjoy it and it get's my name out there. Oh, and sometimes I get to keep the odd bit of tech too!

    Well the chair does have a forward and back rocking pivot under the base of the chair, so, the whole of the chair moves back and forth keeping your back supported most times. It is a somewhat shallow depth seat chair to keep your upper body supported. One of the reasons I purchased this chair. I have never had any type of back issues using this chair. Not sure of any of Steelcase’s current offerings on this feature any longer. I didn't really know how the whole Google/KZread thing works for video content developers/creators since there are millions of content developers/creators and I see a lot more professionals and creatives making YT videos. So, that’s why I asked as I had no real clue if there is a difference between those who post more professional/informative video content VS just the average person just posting dog and cat videos or something more of an entertaiment value. There seems to be a lot more YT content posted from professional people now more than ever. So, I thought maybe there was some other reasons/incentives for that other than personal/business exposure.

    Everybody has a different perspective. Speaking as a man who's broken his back and takes ergonomics very seriously - a good chair is an investment worth spending money on. In this video I specifically refer to this chair as 'affordable' in comparison to it's big sibling 'The HAG Capisco' which is more padded and pore expensive. All things are relevant. I will state that each person's financial situations are their own concerns and that I do not speculate on what is 'cheap', 'affordable' or 'expensive' for anyone. Having the ability to even watch this video and leave a comment means that you own a phone, a computer or a device and are connected to the internet and that you have the luxury of time and freedom to leave said comment. This means your situation is still better than a lot of people's on Earth. As I said 'All things are relevant'. My guess is that you, like most people just see this as a lot to pay for a chair? That is fine. I agree. It is. But think of a good investment on your back, shoulders and neck. These can suffer amazing trauma over the next five years simply from working at your desk. If you buy a better chair and start improving your ergonomic setup then you stand to really improve your chances of leading a healthier life and avoiding such things as chronic arthritis. Now isn't that worth spending more on a better chair? I know a lot of people buy gaming chairs purely for the aesthetics and I know the word 'ergonomics' gets bandied around a lot with tech gear but when it comes to seats, trust me - this is a good one. Have a look at the review I did for the other HAG Capisco and you'll see more about these in general and how a good chair is worth the money. Even if you buy a completely different chair (I don't work for them) then I just want every creative out there to be safe and comfortable while they create. Have a great day Luis.
