No clue if you'll still see this since the video is a little older but I just wanted to express my admiration for your work. I've got one question though. Should I burnish my spoon before or after oiling it with linseed oil?

Thank you! I try to keep up with comments, but honestly, It's unmanageable, I literally have in excess of 30-50 emails messages and comments every day. It's a beautiful thing, but it's so hard to get to them all haha. No need to burnish if your tools are sharp, but burnishing isn't a bad thing. Do it before you oil the spoon :)

Hello Tom! Il fan of your work, it is so beautiful. I got into spooncarving no so long when I can get hold of some fresh wood. And I try to do as you teach us, but recently I am getting so frustrated because each Spoon I make gets this little cracks at the tip of the bowl, does it happen to u too? Do you think the wood is too fresh and warms up too quickly with my hands? Thank you for your advice! And thank you for you good videos!

Hi! They can be caused by a few things, end grain checking before you have even started making the spoon (while in the round) that hasn't been removed. Or because the end of your spoon is left too thick there before it dries. Movement in the wood will cause checking in thick areas where it can't warp. Therefore, make sure you've removed any checking in the log and make sure you carve your spoons thin enough before you let them dry, hope this helps! :)
