The Beauty of Assertiveness | Dr. Abby Hamilton | TEDxWestshoreWomen

While many people believe that assertiveness is rude and ugly, Dr. Abby presents the beauty of assertiveness as a way to show the world that we are smart, kind, and important. Dr. Abby is a second-generation Filipino American whose research and findings on assertiveness have inspired her to tell the world how to find their voice. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

What a story! "I spoke up!!!" Wow Korean culture is the same way." Focus on respect, obedience, never question to our authority." That is why I tell myself. I am cool. I am amazing. We love you!

Abby is a great supporter of our Filipino American organization in Tampa and she’s very inspirational person and a great role model to our community. She reminds me of how Asians are not so assertive based on how we were raised. We have to learn how to be assertive as we grow up if we want to succeed in life.. which I actually did if I want to go up in my clinical ladder. Thanks Abby for inspiring others!

It's so sad to see when people change from passive to aggressive. The in-between is Assertiveness, and it takes effort. That's why I wrote my book, Speak Up Anak (on Amazon), to teach assertiveness strategies.
