The Beatles - I'll Be Back (A Tribute to John Lennon) HD

Музыка

My tribute to a great, great man. I thought it was quite poignant to include the ER Doctor's account here in trying to keep JL alive and the damage done to his heart, although a bit graphic; as John Lennon was famous for his big heart, metaphorically -- in the romantic songs he wrote and sang, as well as his universal push for love and peace -- including, ironically, the warmth he showed his would-be assassin earlier, who shot him point blank in the back later that tragic December night.
Very sad.. a needless waste of a hugely-inspirational and influential life and a highly-loved person. What else can you say, though we continue to grieve we still enjoy his work. "A big thank you JL!"
Song written by Lennon/McCartney. Released 10 July 1964 (on A Hard Day's Night LP).
Most of the photos and videos are from around the time of the song's release. It's nice to see the lads enjoying a laugh with (British) comedians Ken Dodd and Morecambe and Wise.
I liked Elton John's tribute to John Lennon (Empty Garden) from nearer the time, it can be found at:

The four of them were a PERFECT compliment to each other. The cleverness of John's lyrics, McCartneys melodic sense, George's songs, and parts he added. Ringo's brilliant drumming especially in those later 'studio songs. I was about 7 years younger than them and in a band too. They shaped the path of my life, their music, their viewpoints on issues. When news of Lennon's death came on the radio I was driving upstate to Woodstock, where I was living at the time. I had to pull over and stop on the highway. I was crying and shaking. This was the first great episode which literally changed my viewpoint on reality. I had grown up with them.. I saw them perform, and met and spoke to John for one minute in Boston in a restaurant, I HAD to speak to him, but I didn't want to intrude on his privacy. He was very kind and appreciative of my compliments, and shook my hand. At later points several times in my life, anxiety and depression would overwhelm me. My medicine was now listening to the Beatles CD's which had so much more detail in them, than the vinyl and cruder sound systems of the 60's. Sometime in the early 2000's McCartney was being interviewed, and mention was made of 'Yesterday'.. He, oh so cleverly just dismissed as 'it was just a song love'. Each of them had their own brand of humor, what a gift they were and still are to me.

Unfortunately we have to see this stuff from time to time I'm a huge Beetle fan and John was always topped out as my best Beatle I guess I liked the way he sang the songs the roughness in his voice and then his songs I always like to songs he edged out Paul McCartney for me but Paul's great to and together forget it there will never be but a useless senseless tragedy that's up there with Martin Luther King JFK assassination that shouldn't have been and as we come up now again on his anniversary of his death here soon it's just crazy all these years have gone by I got Double Fantasy a week before he died and I just come to this day it's still floors me but it was just a man a man and his music that touched everyone some more than others

How he was blessed with this ability to wow people is beyond me. He was one of a kind. His words and music are the accompaniment to my life. He has influenced me in so many ways I can't begin to describe it. If there is one person I hope I will be able to meet up with in Heaven it's John Lennon. Look what he did in 40 years of living. I live in New York. I’ve been to Central Park, often and can tell you it’s a special place and I’ve ridden my bike there, walked all throughout the park. I could see how John loved going there! My friend’s wife passed, 4 months ago and almost every weekend, I’ve been hanging around with him. Yesterday, we ate at a diner, Uptown, down the block from Central Park. My friend and I decided to walk around the park and we went to Strawberry Fields. Many people were there and I’d been there before but didn’t see too many people there, in the past. They were hanging out, singing Beatles songs, one woman played a guitar and sang a Beatles tune, which I loved, as another Beatle fan and I conversed about. It was such a beautiful day. I looked at the mosaic made in John’s honor and felt really sad! I thought, what a horrible thing that had happened to someone who touched me and so many with such beautiful music. Then, after more than a half-an-hour, my friend and I left the park and inadvertently passed in front of The Dakota, which I’ve never seen before! It was so surreal. I thought, man I wonder what John Lennon would think of the world we live in today. RIP John!

For all his success, he had what can only be called a tragic childhood. No wonder he was such a mess as an adult. Then again, that pain gave him an endless well to draw upon for his music. That his end was tragic, too, just when he seemed to have gotten his life together at long last and found peace within, was utterly heartbreaking.

Very well said! He WAS a mess during his adult life and he wasn't always a good person towards his loved ones. You can see his cries for help in many of the songs he wrote during their years together. His message of love and peace were genuine and the bitterness and animosity that he displayed after their break up seemed to dissipate as he went through a drastic change after the birth of Sean. I always thought that had he lived, he would have gladly participated in the Anthology reunion. I don't think they would have reunited as a band but those old wounds and scars definitely heal with time. One thing I'm sure of is that there was a tremendous love between those four. They really only had each other to lean on during their years as a band and I can't imagine him dealing with that chaos and insanity for as long as they did.

I wanted to add this with my original comment, but i thought it would be inappropriate. Knowing how extremely famous JOHN was all over the world, if someone had just asked the limo. driver to " clear or secure a path from the curb to the inside of the Dakota, john would be alive today. i thought, where was the security? they knew John was on his way back from the studio. it was just a short distance to clear, then they would have seen this --------------- or anyone else. lurking in the entrance area & this heartbreaking attack could have been prevented. you cannot assume anything in life. in/re to my comment. Thank you MrSquooze for this poignant video.

Thank you MrSquooze for your comment & recognition, regarding this very emotional tragedy/event. We can wonder about Quantum Physics, but this theory is still unsettled. i would like to think it possible. i believe this event could have been avoided. There are dates for me, that are very hard to discuss, without getting emotional. 11/22/63- 8/16/77 & 12/8/80 & **9/11/01** you knew where you were at that moment. the heart break is over whelming. there are other dates, that i won't forget.

Sure. For me (musically), 8/16/77 still ranks as the worst. I so miss The Man. I tried doing a vid on The King but found it too emotional so gave up. 12/8/80 was also bad, I was at Uni when I heard the news. That's rock and roll, I guess. :o(

Thank you MRSquooze for your thoughts on 8/16.77. I was in total disbelief, when someone told me in the office in the late afternoon on that day, i loved that man, he was the most famous entertainer that ever lived, & i assure you there will never ever be another Elvis. in 1955 i thought Bill Haley was really great, & Chuck Berry,Little Richard, & Fats Domino etc. however when Elvis came out with Hound Dog & one hit after another, he totally blew everyone away. i wish i could go back to those x. but i can't. John Lennon made two comments, "If there was no Elvis, there would be no Beatles" & " before Elvis there was nothing".i could go on & on. I have his v.h.s on his 1969 comeback special, & have all is original 45 rpm's & his albums.when i see his movies, & now you can bring up any Concert. & i saw him up close approx. 3 x.when i saw his last concert, i had a premonition ,but i thought no way, he's Elvis he'll pull out of this somehow. "E" also crammed in 2-3 life times in 42 yrs. over the ordinary person. If there is a Heaven, hopefully he is with his mother who he adored. And i have been to" Graceland", it's like you are on hallowed ground. but you can't help to choke.,

I love when someone claims a modern band or artist to have more talent than The Beatles had as a group, and they always seem to overlook the songwriting element of it. Who could possibly compare with The Beatles as songwriters? "Tool writes music in a meter of 5/32!" Alright, great for them, how does it sound though? Is it relateable to a wide audience? Is it timeless? The Beatles were cool *AND* they appealed to a wide audience. Beat that.

I was 24 at the time and grew up with The Beatles through my older sister. I got to see them on their final tour in 1966 and was a huge fan from the age of 8 years old. By 1980 when John was shot I had moved on to other music mostly because the Beatles had split up 10 years before and weren't particularly relevant as a band but more so as individual artists. The shock of John's death ended all hope of them ever playing together again and was really symbolic to me of not only the tragedy of losing him at such a young age but also the end of something greater. My girlfriend and I broke up and we're both happily married but will always share memories of that sad, horrible night when he was taken away from all of us. Times change but for me The Beatles music is timeless and we all have to thank them for that.

I was driving to work very early on the morning following the late night killing of John Lennon when I first heard the news of what had happened in New York the night before... I was so stricken that I pulled over and just sat there trying to grasp the stark reality that he was gone... Now, John was never really my "favorite" Beatle...I think Ringo would probably take that honor, and then maybe George... probably because of their humility... John and Paul were the "huge" talents in the foursome, and seemed to develop the biggest egos... I had been a fan since early 1964 when they first were introduced to the American audiences... I loved The Beatles then and I still do today... It seems so long ago that morning in December 1980 when, as TIME Magazine put it, the music died. Of course, it really didn't... The Beatles had been dissolved a decade before, and so life would go on... but the senseless killing of a great musician, singer, songwriter, and human being was very hard to accept, and impossible to make any sense of... I mourn for John, and I mourn for George, who succumbed to cancer in 2001, I believe... John was the acknowledged founder and leader of The Beatles, and at the age of 15 when they burst upon the scene, they naturally had a profound effect on me...and a lasting effect, as it turned out... because I still listen to and enjoy their music and the memories that they evoke to this day... and I suspect I always will. Rest in Peace, John Lennon. You gave us all so much... and sadly, left us far too soon...
