The pacing of this movie is amazing. The part where he says “unless you know someone who plays guitar” and then instantly cuts to him playing is amazing, I feel like other movies would hold on that shot for like 2 seconds and then cut to him playing guitar, but this really give the sense of urgency Marty is under.

I like to think of it as character development. In the beginning Marty is afraid of rejection and that he'll never have a chance to play his music. Over the course of the film, he has to help George with his own fear of it. By helping George, he, in turn, is learning to deal with his own. Getting on stage gives him this opportunity, and by playing this song, Marty finally opens up and is able to express himself without worrying what people will think of him.

Imagine being the one who got your parents together, and they are happy together and they have an amazing life together. I would freaking cry.

Fun music fact: For the people who keep asking how a band could possibly know the back-up instrumentals to a song no one has ever heard before, Marty says to them right before he starts "its a blues riff in B and watch me for the changes". The "blues riff" is a common progression of chords used in blues and jazz songs throughout that particular era that any band would know especially in the 50's, and to basically follow his lead. Johnny B Goode is actually a pretty simple song to play along to if you know the key and the blues riff.

im an '05 er and i am SO, SO happy my family borderline forced me to watch this trilogy.

Crispin Glover easily one of the most underrated actors of all time. Makes me cry without fail every rewatch. It's the sincere wave from father to son that gets me. Proving why he's his Dad and why he's such a great guy. He didn't just have it all, he was thankful, and a symbol of courage in the end.

I remember seeing this in theaters in 1985 as a 7 year old. The theater erupted in applause and cheers when MJF got back up after the kiss and they all came back in the photo. Ah, the magic of movies! There was also lots of laughter when he went nuts shredding on the guitar. Back to the Future is an example of a perfect movie.

One of the best movies ever made. As an eighty's kid not a big fan of the era but this is one for the ages.

It’s so great when the score drops out for a few seconds and you hear the band only for the score to come back in with a string section playing along with the band(which obviously isn’t supposed to be coming from the stage). One of the most powerful musical cues in film history

This movie is really close to my heart. Such lovable characters, interesting story, gripping screenplay, brilliant fusion of sci-fi and comedy with great attention to detail. I still remember, when I watched it for the first time in high school, I literally cried at the scene where george and Lorraine finally kiss. Love you Robert zemeckis sir and hats off to all the cast and crew. ❤️

Thank you to all who made back to the future trilogy, you've helped me so much

It' the reason why 80s still rocks.

'I'll be the vision of your ha, happiness oh!' I've always thought that the way the music at 1:42 blends together with the visuals is genius. Really perfect art. The rising of the score to the silence as Earth Angel plays in the background whilst she awaits for him to kiss her. A love story taking place at the same time as a man struggles at the boundary between life and oblivion.

​@@jeromeglick Yeah, I think it was Hendrix with throwing over the amp and going crazy, and maybe a little bit of SRV with putting the guitar behind the head. And yes, great scene, very funny.

Something interesting is that George and Marty both got over their fears of rejection in this scene. George overcame being rejected by Lorraine by kissing/dancing with her,and Marty overcame his fear of not being a good enough guitar player and get rejected by the crowd. So Marty not only fixed his dad's fate,but also his,as he got more confident since he played on that stage. A cool parallel between father and son.

Also pretty inspiring that George changed that much and became a very confident person in the future after finally standing up for himself and taking a risk. Shows that nothing is set in stone.

Fun trivia fact..."Marty" is about 3 years older than "Dad" in real life and roughly the same age as "Mom". 🤪

My favorite part will always be the saxophonist immediately getting down with the opening riff😂

All the movies I have seen in over 40 years, this is the tear jerker that gets me every time. And when the horse sinks in the swamp...

*"I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet but your kids are gonna love it"* This is what makes this one of the best scenes in the back to the future franchise.

I usually ate the musical part of movies, but this was one scene I never skipped. That guitar solo at the end was awesome and still is.

I love how Marvin looks at the guitar astounded after Marty gives it back like "damn, I didn't know you could do that!"

I always thought he was inspecting it for damage.

It’s so crazy to know that Michael was showing early signs of Parkinson’s during the Johnny B. Goode scene. They had to redo the scene when he has the guitar over his shoulders cuz he kept twitching. He kept brushing it off when it was noticeable and kept it secret for so long. As someone who has Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy and family history of Parkinson’s, he really doesn’t let the disease define him and is a great advocate for others dealing with the disease. Much respect.

This film really captured what it might “feel” like to be in the 1950s. Amazing. Obsessed with that era not sure bout y’all.

I like how Marty also realizes his dream of playing on a stage....even though he's in a different time line he still gets to play ! Love it :) !

This is definitely Michael J. Fox's most iconic role.

Hindsight is 20/20, that's one of the concepts they played off of in the script.

This is CINEMA at his best 👏👏👏

I’m 35 years old now. I grow up with this movie from 7 years old. I’m so happy to hear this song and miss my good old my family ages.

To be fair, it's only obvious to us that he's dying because of the context we have and the dramatic music. Without that it'd just look like he was getting a really bad stomach ache.

@@SMPandanic No one noticed. It's as simple as that. Plus, once again, we only know his hand looking invisible means he's dying/fading from existence because we know the context. Even if anyone _did_ notice, they'd just pass it off as their eyes playing tricks on them.

FALSE. First of all it's obviously just a bandage scribbled with red marker to look like blood. Second, it's not even placed where it would hinder an experienced guitarist from playing basic cords. Should have been across the finger tips, where the pain would be excruciating to play. Look man, there have been plenty of great cuts, slashes, chops, etc. in movies, this one just was amateur at best.

I love how Marvin walks up to Marty like “hmm ok” at :29 when he’s playing the guitar.

One of the very best scènes in his carrère, i love the guy since his role in Family ties!!, love it, thank you Marty......or should i say Michael J Fox???absolutly amazing , i love movies like back to the future, timetravel......🥰😍🤩😘
