  • @Raymo2u

    @Raymo2u

    6 жыл бұрын

    yea, they show its almost nonexistent...less than 1% of all firearm crimes are done with NFA items or machine guns. The FBI has said that the laws have been negligible in making any changes to crime, the numbers weren't there to begin with. Most crime is done with handguns, the rest (albeit that 1%) are done with long rifles, mostly old 22lr rifles and pellet guns...

    The statistics are staggering! I saw a documentary one time, I think it was called John Wick 2, and in it two assassins were shooting at each other with silencers in a crowded area, and the guns were so silent that NO ONE even knew what was happening! So no one called the police because the silencers were so SILENT!!! DID YOU GUYS KNOW THAT!? DID YOU GUYS SEE THAT REAL LIFE DOCUMENTARY CALLED JOHN WICK 2!! IT'S REAL LIFE, GUYS! SILENCERS MAKE GUNS TOTALLY SILENT, AND ALMOST ALL CRIMINALS HAVE THEM!!

    One of these days I'll run into you over there; I'm also a member. I built a dedicated 4.5" .22 upper using that same CMMG barrel/bolt set-up and it runs great! I also run it suppressed on my SBR lower(with a binary trigger...talking about a lot of fun there). I will say it can start to hiccup some once it gets dirty, so I run it really wet. Anyways, great review! Glad to see CMMG putting out new products....they've always made great stuff in my opinion.

    I thought I read recently that you have to update your form if you choose to switch calibers on a SBR lower. I don’t think you have to apply for a different stamp. But you have to list the caliber of the upper. If the new upper is also a SBR. I could be completely wrong. But it came to mind when you said you could run any upper on it. Awesome little package. And great review as always.

    I’ve owned SBR’s for 15 years and I’ve heard that question come up a number of times. You don’t need to let ATF know when you switch calibers.

  • @ncshpfox

    @ncshpfox

    6 жыл бұрын

    TWANGnBANG Did a Little digging after my comment. You can “temporarily” change the upper of your SBR as long as you maintain the original upper listed on your Form 1. The form 1 is specific to the caliber, barrel length and overall length of the original build listed on the form. They no longer allow “multi” on the form. If the original upper is permanently replaced by one that differs you must update your Form 1 with ATF. Side note. If you use a non SBR upper on a stamped lower you do not have to update the form and you can travel with that firearm without the paperwork.

  • @TWANGnBANG

    @TWANGnBANG

    6 жыл бұрын

    This would not be a Form 1 SBR. This is a Form 4 SBR. Everything you say is exactly how it has been ever since I've been doing this, though there is no such thing as permanently replacing anything on an AR15 unless you weld them. Just keep the original upper around, and you'll be fine.

  • @ncshpfox

    @ncshpfox

    TWANGnBANG ahhh. Understood. I admittedly have never completed the paperwork for an SBR myself. With the ruling on pistol braces, I have gone that route just to avoid the headaches and $200 donation. At least until ATF decides to change their opinions again. Thank you for the update.

    love it, but different than lone wolf- whos logo i liked n actually wanted on my barrel n could not get, cmmg should come up with something cooler than an ar- on an ar lol... like maybe just "cmmg" lol just saying, i know its a small detail n doesnt matter but i want a guard 9mm n will overlook it now that the price is down n this is awesome too but there is one on the buttstock as well and all i can think is, "well i need to replace the stock" lol, and its a cool stock- without that 2nd logo. i know its stupid bitchy petty complaint but i guess thats what this section means to cmmg- feedback.

    I built a pistol version of this, but with a Beyer 4.5" barrel. Waiting for my Mask to get out of jail. It's so much fun, I almost don't save any money on ammo, but I get to shoot a whole lot more.

    It seems like before stamps and suppressor you could build this for like $400. This exact setup is gonna be $1875 after stamps. Getting a similar setup in a pistol for would still land you well under $1000, probably under $800 after the suppressor and stamp. Hard pass for me.

    hornmonk3zit Pistol seems better route currently, unless ATF does a 180. There are some really nice pistol braces out there now. Then get an angled grip. It's close enough to a sbr And you don't have to deal with notification of authorities when you cross state lines. You could then get an upper rifle as well, provided you document it was originally a pistol or you could keep it in pistol format then do the SBR paperwork, pay the fees and convert it to an SBR when approved a year later. I just don't know if you can switch between SBR and pistol then back once it is SBR.

    Add $200 to Cerakote- that takes your cost to $900. Add the conversion kit at the price you quote and you're at $1090. You're now at the street price for this, and it probably doesn't have as nice a stock or ambi controls. I sure as heck hope you aren't running a 4.5" barrel on your 5.56, either. :)
