lol, the form of these laws was 100% caused by the "conservative gun lobby". This is fact. Look it up. This is all public record and easy to find. The law(s) were altered, by the "pro-gun lobby" trying add exemptions...and they were successful in doing that and making it a pain in the ass for everyone (also part of the plan if you ask me, so "good conservatives" could continue to bitch about the law the "liberals made"....because they know they are too lazy/stupid to do any research themselves). [note: if the "pro-gun" lobby had NOT done this, the law would be MUCH more restrictive so either vote people into office that will take another look at the laws or shut the hell up]

Three years later and this is still the sexiest AR Pistol on KZread. I think what makes it look so good is its simplicity, and the fact that the Aimpoint T1 on the LaRue LT751 mount is placed so far to the rear of the pistol, that aesthetically it looks like a small ACOG.

dick liddle in finland there are the basics no assault weapons for regular citizen, if you wish to own a pistol or rifle/shotgun anybody can own a deactivated one, but if you wish to use one you need to be part of a gunclub or hunting club then get a permit and register yourself as a gun owner, and you need to go to the clubmeetings and shooting to keep your self as and active member or something to that end and the last one you are requred by law to keep your guns in a gun safe or lockbox, and thats the gyst of it, hunting laws are a bit of a pain for what i have heard and researched because i would like to go hunt with a traditional recurve bow but do to some wierdness i havent started to, more research

JellyCarrot that's actually a relatively smart gun law(s), they obviously want to keep it out of criminal hands yet give the people what they want, kinda like if you want a gun you gotta prove you're a normal member of society type of thing, ofc it's not "freedom" bc you can't just turn 18 and grab a gun but it's sure smarter than saying "no guns" like Australia

If you have a 2 position commando buffer lying around I recommend using it. It can go to the last position on it and slightly increases length of pull. And it is legal I measured it and it extended the length of pull from about 12.4 inches to 12.9 inches, so it's still well under 13.5(Which isn't necessarily illegal to surpass but they said it's a grey area".

  • @kevinroberts9580

    @kevinroberts9580

    6 жыл бұрын

J H if your Barrel is less than 16 in overall then it is either a short-barreled rifle with a tax stamp and a lot of paperwork, or it can be a pistol with a pistol brace and have the same rules as carrying a pistol which means you can carry it across state lines without special paperwork and permission. Another idiotic rule. Your Barrel can be less than 16 in as long as it has a pinned and welded muzzle device that makes it 16 in overall. I built a 10.5 in. 300 AAC Blackout with a pistol brace because I didn't want to go through all the trouble and the money for an short barreled rifle. I hope this helps

Provided buffer tube is intentional since ATF has stated that lop beyond 13.5" on braces is in the legal gray area. The buffer tube SB included only goes 5 positions with the normal 6th position removed as that would be longer than 13.5

If you buy a stripped lower thats the only serialized part and you do not register it as a pistol or a rifle its a lower its your choice as to which you to chose to let it be, you do not register an upper so they have no way to know what kind of firearm it turns out to be rather its a pistol or a rifle therefore you can convert from rifle to pistol.

Stripped lowers should always be listed as “other” on a 4473. Even if an FFL puts something different, it does not make it so. A firearm is defined by what it is originally assembled as, not by what someone wants to label it.

"only serialized part and you do not register it as a pistol or a rifle" Register with whom? There's no federal registration outside NFA firearms. Many (most?) states don't have registration for both, either. It's more common to find state registration of pistols than of rifles/shotguns.

I would argue its 100% true. If you take off that "brace" and attach a stock its an SBR, by all accounts. So simply owning an extra stock, and that "pistol" with a carbine tube would qualify as "is made when unassembled parts are placed in close proximity in such a way that they: (a) serve no useful purpose other than to make a rifle having a barrel or barrels of less than 16 inches in length". The juice just isn't worth the squeeze IMO. I have a gen 2 sig brace, and a tube a stock CANT fit on. Its rock solid and in no way would allow a stock on it. I'm just not willing to make the quarter million dollar gamble the legal defense would cost to maybe win in court. ATF also works on intent, so a video of you shouldering this, then you owning an extra stock sure would look like intent to a jury that you planned that platform as shoulder fired. I just really think this is a hornets nest of trouble once we get another democrat President.

As long as you also have an AR-15 that is a rifle I don't think you could get in trouble for having a stock laying around. Hell you could even have an Airsoft M4 and claim the stock is for that.

The barrel length laws are beyond retarded anyways. Do they honestly think a criminal doesn't know how to change an AR buffer tube or upper receiver, or even how to use a hack saw? like wtf it only applies to people that obey the law it would take like 15 seconds to attach a stock/change the upper on a rifle to a pistol upper.

As a democrat who also pikes guns, obviously, both parties are insane on this issue. Just because a suppressor was originally marketed as a silencer does not mean it makes a gun silent. Make guns ear safe with maybe a minimal decibel level, but just deciding that any muffling device is legally a silencer is ridiculous. Hollywood level silencer sound takes a 22 with additional sound suppression beyond the suppressor itself. I mean custom fitted dynamat type insulation around the action itself in addition to a wrapped suppressor with subsonic ammo.

@@redtra236 it doesn't matter in any case, people are not born murderers. Most mass shootings are perpetrated by people using legal guns because it is very difficult for the type of people who do mass shootings to gain access to a black market firearm. And most other firearm homicides are done using handguns. Anyhow, the majority of gun related deaths are due to suicide. And we do nothing to check up on the continual mental health of firearms owners. Canada background checks their restricted license holders everyday. They do not have castle doctrine laws, which is problematic (not personally for stand your ground, ymmv), but they have a relatively high gun ownership rate but a much lower gun death rate, even adjusted for population and ownership levels.

I ordered mine around a month ago and it's not expected to come back in stock, let alone ship out, for another week or so. aLsO, the lower I ordered started life as a "firearm" if I remember correctly. So does that make it ok for me to not have to change out my buffer tube? If not, I guess I'm just gonna have to be a felon because I don't have the tool to take it off... or the will power to care...

All stripped lowers should be registered as “firearm” on the 4473. Regardless, the law specifies the lower is classified as the type of firearm it is assembled into, not what some piece of paper says it is.

The only thing they did by forcing us to use the brace to shoulder the firearm is instead of a solid stock that gives a solid contact surface we have a semi wobbly rubber surface that is not as sturdy, thereby reducing overall control which actually is worse for accuracy. If all available evidence appears to show it was a rifle first, then a pistol second, it will be on you to prove that was not the case. It is clearly not a high enforcement priority, but it's still important to know what the law says and how easy it is to comply.

As far as i understand a local leo cant charge you with breaking federal law. They can only detain/apprehend and contact federal authorities to charge you. Most aren't concerned with the configuration of your weapon unless youre commiting a crime with it. Then, you get the added dimension of federal charges in addition to whatever state or local laws youve broken. At least thats what ive been told by a couple of leos at my gun club.

The only concern I have is if adding the shoulder strap is going to be interpreted as "modifying." Most of the videos I have seen on the whole pistol brace issue seems to indicate if you use the brace in its original configuration it is ok, but any modification to it is considered making an sbr. Again the legal "framework" if we can call it that, is so convoluted that who knows whats legal and illegal. Tgats why I am just stayibg away from pistol ar's all together. Rather be safe than sorry.

Depends on the length of the barrel you have mounted on it. If it’s at least 16” long, then you have a rifle. If it’s less than 16” long, then you have a short barreled rifle that must be first registered with the ATF before you make it.
