The Bangles had a unique style and were great. Not only Susanna had the lead vocals but most of their singles did, so that's why much people didn't get to know much about the other members vocals but I guess Susanna had the most interesting and palatable one. Susanna Hoffs on her own is super talented and hasn't stopped writing beautiful songs and even when singing covers she gives them her own different and personal style. She really is a musician.
@davidgoodman4208

I don't think it's so much that Susanna had the most interesting or palatable voice... as that their record company felt she was the prettiest and wanted to promote her as a star. (Even if she had terrible stage fright, and Vicki Peterson displayed far more personality in live performances.) The Bangles were a really good band, with several talented members, that IMO got overmanaged by their label.

There's only one band that's allowed to sound like the Bangles, and that's the Bangles.
Susanna Hoffs and Matthew Sweet have released several volumes of cover version of favorite songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s. "Under the Covers"
These ladies put out a lot of decent pop back in their day.
Three of the four still perform together believe it or not, so not "were" talented, are talented. They still look great too and sound just as good. Also, Susanna Hoffs, who is the vocalist for this song and quite a few of their bigger hits, like Manic Monday is not the main vocalist. They all sang and took turns as main vocalist, even the drummer. Check out Be With You for that. In Your Room, Watching the Sky, and Hero Takes a Fall are great songs with switched up vocalists.

@@christinepugliese1288 I know the go-gos, they got the beat 😆 Wasn't Belinda Carlisle or Cyndi Lauper one of the go-gos? I still remember that music video where they are jet skiing and singing something or another.
I was born in 1982. I just turned 40. I was a Nintendo, MTV, Tales from the Crypt, WWF wrestling kid. I was a little boy watching The Bangles sing Walk like an Egyptian. Susanna Hoffs was the first woman I ever see that I knew was pretty. I was maybe around 5 to 7 and I'd watch her music videos in awe at how pretty she was.
Susanna Hoffs (the singer) is one of the most gracefully aged people I have ever seen. I watched a recent interview she gave, and she's in her 60s now, and I swear she could easily pass for a woman in her mid to late 30s. And it doesn't look like she's had any work done either. It just seems like she probably took really good care of her skin, ate well, and/or has really amazing genetics. And of course this is all just superfluous to her talents as a musician. So its really just icing on the cake - some really fucking good icing - but icing on the cake none-the-less.
Love how as soon as the song started, you guys were swyaing in sync with each other- kinda made the point of the whole song in the first 10 seconds....
I loved The Bangles! I always thought the lead singer was absolutely stunning! They also sing, walk like an Egyptian, hazy shade of winter and manic Monday. ❤️

Man...... I'm 47 and Susanna was the first Angel I feel in love with along with everyone else in the world. I don't care who you are this is a special song. So simple yet so perfect.
Susanna is maybe the most beautiful woman to ever grace the earth. I've had a crush on her for 35 years and I'm 45. Still love her performances today and still gorgeous.
Singers frequently either have or intentionally put a little bit of "grit" into their singing. It somehow adds an interesting flavor and character to their voice.
For an 80's UK girl band try Bananarama. Proper 80's vibes. The song cruel summer.
Possibly my favourite 80's Pop Ballad, by absolutely my favourite All-Female Band of All-Time. This whole album is wall-to-wall Classics, and every one of these Awesome Ladies is a Lead Singer. ❤🤟🤘
"In Your Room" and "Hazy Shade of Winter" are are great Bangles songs to react to. ❤️
Never seen both of you smile so much listening to a song. My favorite Bangles hit.
Susanna Hoffs stole many hearts in the 80s through to this day - without even using her incredible singing voice.
Love the smile on Lex’s face throughout this entire song!

Had the same effect on me as a 12 year old. 😃
Prince helped make them famous by composing the song for them that they sang called Manic Monday. The video for Eternal Flame is really nice and the singer's eyes hypnotize me and I don't even blink every time I see her beautiful Dracula eyes. But, I digress.
I was born in 97 and my mum blasted 80's my whole childhood and this grew into a piece of me, same with Richard Marx - Right here waiting, they just became those hit's bcos of her, I used to refuse to like 80's until I grew up, I love 80's now 😂
Always loved this song

If you weren't already mesmerized by Susanne beauty this song with her voice well get you. The Bangles being huge Beatles fan first called there selves the beats but there was another group with that name so they changed to the Bangles. Beatles Beat Bangles Bang
I'm a metal head but I love this track so much. Pure nostalgia for my 80's childhood.
The quality about the voice Lex was asking about is called resonance. It 1 part training, 1 part stress management through life.
I always really liked this song. I liked the video even more. Susana Hoffs, is so beautiful. It may be toxic, to say today; but she was, and still is absolutely gorgeous. It doesn't dimish, her talent. It just is, what it is.
Hey what's up guys! Greetings from South Florida! This song is awesome! Her voice in this song makes me almost want to cry everytime I hear it. You guys rock! God bless you! Peace!
Ah that voice! Susanna Hoffs! My eternal 🔥. Eternally beautiful.
I loved the Bangles when they became popular in 1986. Walk Like an Egyptian was so hot, and the MV, Suzanna Hoffs eyes after the second riff, guitar strike. idk but not only that, Michael Steele, one of the original "RUNAWAYS" Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Cherie Currie and Sandy West. I think they were the first all girl rock group formed in the 70s. Didn't know much about the patterson sisters, but this band was pure fire in the mid 80s
Since the 80s and still now I am infatuated with Suzanna Hoffs vocals!!! She's fantastic and still making music!!! 😉❤✌
Man, whenever I hear this song I am blasted in the face with nostalgia. Probably more than any other song.
I had such a crush for Sussana Hoffs thanks in part to the music video for this and Walk Like an Egyptian. I liked her solo album that had Beekeeper Blues and All I Want, have those on (old school) mix CD that I listen to often.
This is one of the most beautiful song i've ever heard.
Lex asks a smart question. The answer is that you just listened to 29-year-old Susanna Hoffs recorded in 1988. Absolutely love the sound of her voice ... on this recording. But Lex's point is so smart. I remember I used to be able to scream, even as a boy, when I WAS a boy. Shoot, I can't even do falsetto, just goofing around and stuff, because I'm older. I've listened to Susanna do this in live performances with the band, more recently, and she doesn't go for the high notes and substitutes another note.
I would climb over mountains and swim across oceans and March across deserts just to see Susanna Hoff's Smile 😊
A great all female band. I'm glad they are back to playing together sometimes.

Susanna Hoffs. She sure helped kick start my puberty
an underrated band of their time. outstanding musicians and vocalists. they made me entirely forget for years that "hazy shade of winter" was a simon and garfunkel song!
I was all about the hard rock and heavy metal back in the 80's (still am, though I've since expanded my tastes) but The Bangles were one of those "other" bands that grabbed my attention. Great songs, beautiful voices, and my God did I have a crush on Susanna! 😍🥰
the moment Lex said that she sounds like a little fairy, I went awww Something similar of a Love song, but male style is KISS - I Still Love You (do the live version, it's bloody epic) KISS - "I Still Love You" (Live MTV Acoustic 1995)
There aren't many songs I'd say this about, but it's a truly beautiful song
Caught The Bangles on a great late-80's double-bill with Mr.Mister (Broken Wing, Kyrie) and Lead Singer/Guitarist Susanna Hoffs stole the show. All were good, she was great, her voice is unmistakable.
Saw Susanna performing with Neil Finn over Skype during the pandemic, and she was fantastic. Still plays that Rickenbacker guitar with a ton of easy familiarity and skill and her voice is out of this world. And I have to add the obligatory comment that she still looks fantastic. Like a dream at 63 years old. Honest, she looks and sounds 40.

6th grade me had a huge crush on Susanna Hoff, who sang lead on most of their songs. I think it was her eyes at fist when she sang the words “walk like an Egyptian” (she didn’t sing lead on that song, only backup vocals and that line in the hook).
When you go back and listen to their hits, each song had a different vibe to it.
