Greatest TV show in history, it was so stylish and ahead of its time. theres been nothing like it since and i dont think there ever will. it's still brilliant almost 50yrs later,

Still can't get over how nearly 60 years later, this has got to be the coolest TV series ever made. Evoking every essence of the mid to late 60s in all its stylish glory.

The avengers was repeated on bbc4 about 8 years ago, my then 7 year old son really got into it. He especially loved it when Steed and Mrs Peel would leave in a different vehicle at the end of each episode. Definitely needs to be on telly again .

No disrepect to the other Avengers theme songs, but out of all of them, This Is the Best And beautiful theme song ever. Bcuz I grew up With this One. Salute.

Agreed. When they got to the Tara King series the music just became way too brassy, sort of an overcooked theme.

There's something about seeing the two of them in silhouette that just leaves you feeling warm & pleasant. Almost as if Steed & Peel are immortal.

They ARE.

The Avengers and The New Avengers moved into high gear from Season 2 onwards. RIP Patrick McNee, you were great. Very entertaining as were Honor Blackman, Diana Rigg, Linda Thorson, Patrick Newell, Garath Hunt & Joanna Lumley.

This opening sequence is from "Forget Me Not", the last show that Diana Rigg appeared. At 1:05 we see Steed do a golf swing with his brolly, the only time it occurred in the series.

After watching this Awesome opening. Could you imagine walking in with Champagne and having Diana Rigg Pop Your Champagne Cork Back Then

You got to feel a little sorry for Linda Thorson for being in the unenviable position of succeeding Dame Diana when all us Yanks wanted Emma Peel and nobody else but! A pre-Absolutely Fabulous Joanna Lumley did an admirable job on The New Avengers, however in an example of sometimes it's better to succeed a person who succeeds a legend......
