My father used to ask what The Avengers were avenging. This was it.I'd love to see them refilm the scripts from the first season- including "Hot Snow" from this point with appropriate actors and the technology that was in use back then so the whole series would be obtainable, after a fashion. I bet they could sell that.

Trivia: Three of the actors in this were in Stanley Kubrick movies.

Two seasons is hardly a flop. The 1998 movie, however...

I wonder if the crime boss with the small dog is based on Ronnie Kray.

It's a bit difficult to estimate inflation from 1961 to 2014 with the British Pound due to the switch to metric. But it's between approximately £ 75,000.oo and up to £ 125,000.oo - depending on what type of scale is used. And the cost of cocaine in '61 is really hard to know unless someone remembers. Heroin was (and still is) relatively Cheap !!

I thought that HOT SNOW was an episode about the COLD WAR heating up into the brink of a possible nuclear war

Maybe in England but unfortunately the modern American audience would have a hard time appreciating it.

Between these two clips we have Philip Stone, Godfrey Quigley AND Murray Melvin? Why do I get the feeling that Stanley Kubrick was watching this?

In my opinion the biggest problem with making a remake of this series set in the 1960s would unfortunately fail due to the general ignorance, intolerance and dull witts of an Audience that have the attention span of a gold fish. If it is smart it fails...If it is stupid it prevails...

You are so right. Honor Blackman's Cathy Gale was too intelligent, whereas Ms. Blackman herself chose to leave the series to play in Bond film Goldfinger. Was that intelligent? Much as I like it.

It's best not to call people idiots. This is, in fact from 1961, not 1965. Read the history of the series on Wikipedia.

Well, I'm an American who remembers the series well and I'd love to see it. A&E showed the Honor Blackman era epsiodes in the early 90's and it created enough interest that they made that lousy movie. If they reshowed that plus the Diana Rigg and Lind Thorson epsiodes, it could create interest in redoing the original series.
