Nah it’s them on the streets. The way they play the game in such rough, unpredictable terrains with a ball that’s not even proper. Makes you more instinctive. More than that, it’s just their pure love of the game (I think it’s called Jogo bonito in Brazil)

Ben Arfa is insane dribbler, although he doesn't play for a huge club, it doesn't make his ability less than the likes of Messi etc. He is up there with Messi in terms of pure dribbling, the way he moves is similar to Messi and no other players dribble that way, maybe hazard being the closest. Messi and Ben Arfa are all time best dribblers.

Messi and maradonna are the best dribblers ever. I dont think there will be any better. Just from a pure dribbling aspect. Elegance, first touch, acceleration with close control, high speed dribbling, feints precision of every touch, no diving, pure strength and resilience, agility, balance, vision, dribbling 5 or 6 in extremely tight spaces with no space to necessarily run. Many dribblers only dribble with their speed out wide or only in the centre with space. But ive only seen messi and maradona with the ability to dismantle an entire midfield and defence with 1 feint and make space for themselves to exploit.

everyone is going to keep adding players they think are at that bar. Messi and Maradona were on another level. YES, even compared to R9 and R10. If you add them to the equation then you start adding more, like young CR7, Hazard, Neymar. everyone will have their opinion. Not discrediting the world class talent of either player though, just saying the consistency and effortless 2nd nature that Messi and Maradona had cannot be matched.

You want to talk about pure dribbling aspect or acceleration, agility and speed? Because these 3 are those on which Messi mainly relies on, to some extend Maradona too. In the other attributes you say there are many better than them and some are not so much for dribbling as for other things. But if we are going to talk about people who are both quick and skilled in dribbles, Brazil Ronaldo, Ronaldinho and Pele were better than Messi overall, probably Garrincha too (no i'm not Brazil fan or any of these players). Maradona was more magic with the ball and i'm not sure if those were better than him too. If we leave quickness out, Zidane is in too. He was a bit slow, not agile, but still dribbled really a lot with great success in every possible occasion. Even without running. Only with skill

Yes those 2 had short prime r9 in 95 96 was outrageous and ronaldinho in 05 06 was unstoppable. But since the topic is about dribbling. Messi is ahead of both. R9 comes second then ronaldinho 3rd out those 3. R9 couuld have gone on to be the best ever no doubt. But just because they do more tricks, thus showing more "skill" does not mean theu are better dribblers. Messi doesnt need to do any tricks to go past players. thats why pundits and commentators are in awe of him. He doesnt do tricks do decieve his opponents. One feint and he goes past 5. Even with speed you need amazing ball control and an exceptional touch o every stride of the ball to control it while dribbling. U say he relies on speed acceleration etc but his ball control is level there with maradona. He has pure elegance in his touch and he is incredibly dynamic. Even now he is not as fast as before but dribbles past with ease. How many times has lionel messi collected the ball in his own half with only one player covering him and dribbling out of tight situations??? (If you have played 11 a side you will know nobody has the guts to do that.) The answer is Many bloody times. Because yes he has speed but his ball control and touch and vision is incomparable. Hes ahead in dribbling than those 2 brazillians. If your looking purely at "skill" meaning "tricks" then yes ronaldinho was magical. But skill can also mean "flair" which messi has more than both of them.

its insane how strong iniestas and xavis ball shielding is/was. they dont have the speed or agility but superb technique, they are calm, they have crazy field vision and their ball shielding and keeping it close to them is incredible, thats why they almost never lose the ball
