Big Z is still the King of the Austrian Oak. I’ve followed this sport all the way back to 1978 and without a doubt when Big Z set that record the field was a lot more difficult along with the competitors. This is the technique that was used in olympic lifting when clean & press was a thing there, allowing better use of core muscles and decreasing load on arms for greater weights. Since strongman is less strict about and oly lifting, it's fine here. Admittably the "layback" press looks scary due to intense back arch.

I have a great idea for a new strongman event. I think we can all agree, that opening a tight jar of pickles is the ultimate test of strength. So why not make it a competition? I would CNC mill a metal pickle jar and the lid. It would be screwed together with a specific amount of Nm, so it would always be the same tightness and then you have to try to unscrew it. While we are at it, let’s make it weigh 60 kg or so, so that it’s even harder. I would love to see that in a competition.

The "lighter" log is almost 400 pounds lol. More than 99% of what the male population will even deadlift (Instagram plates don't count)

The reason they had to bring a lighter log was because nobody but Big Z could press the big log

The ones who couldn't lift 195kg even once are weak. For reference, Larry Wheels trained log press for only 2 weeks and was able to rep 195 kg and maxxed 210 kg.
