There are some 40 consignments from 14 states ranging from Oregon to Texas to Missouri to Alabama. A sampling of the horses offered includes: DMR Blondi Silver was bred, born and raised on the ranch in Decatur, Texas. This pretty mare is the real deal. She has more heart than most horses and will throw herself 100% into whatever you ask her to do. She's been hauled to and ridden in the mountains of Montana, used to check cows, pasture rope,
pony young horses and trail ride.
Bar Eyed Dutch is a 2004 Buckskin from Broken Bow, Nebraska. This is a gentle gelding that is great on the ranch or in the arena. He has been hauled as a steer roping horse to PRCA, Amateur and Jackpots -- and won! You can also use him to head or heel. He has great confirmation and is 100% sound. Bar Eyed Dutch is easy to catch, loads easy -- nothing bothers him. He catches leads nicely and scores well. For ranch or pleasure this horse has it all.
Nu Cash Tenino is an all-around great horse from California that does ranch work and roping. 'Colonel' is great in the pasture and arena. He has gathered cattle in the pasture and drag one at branding time. He will work a gate, loads well and stands for the farrier. He is well broke as seen in the video and a dream to ride. This fine gelding is great on the trail, over creeks and brush. 'Colonel' is a gorgeous horse to look at and has the disposition to match.
Don't Bug the Colonel is a 2002 Bay Tobiano APHA Gelding located in Marsing, Idaho. "Bill" and his owner have had many adventures and earned lots of awards in 4-H and local horse shows. They have also been quite successful in the APHA show ring. This colorful gelding enjoys working cows, either in the show ring & on the Great Basin Desert. This good looking gelding has been roped off in the branding pen, used as a turn-back horse at local cuttings, and as a lesson horse. He was featured on the cover of the July 2010 Paint Journal. If you are looking for a fun loving equine partner, Bill may be your man.
Also joining us on The American Rancher is the notable rancher, horseman and western photographer Bob Moorhouse. Bob now resides near Weatherford and he took time not long ago to share his thoughts on ranching and horses. Bob can often be seen schooling a young up and coming horse. He is currently working with a good young gelding named Mohawk.
Bob Moorhouse worked on the Pitchfork Land and Cattle Company near Guthrie, Texas for 35 years, in which 20 of those years he served as Manager and Vice President. Bob and his wife, Linda, have two daughters, Amy and Keri Ann. Through the years, Bob has served as a director with the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, the American Quarter Horse Association and the Working Ranch Cowboys Association. In 2002, Bob was inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame.
During his Pitchfork days, Bob Moorhouse developed a love for photographing the ranching way of life and the people who live it. Bob's images of life on the Pitchfork became a resonating reflection of the energy and texture of ranching. A collection of his work is contained in a handsome volume titled: Pitchfork Country, Photography by Bob Moorhouse. This splendid book is a sure collectable for the enthusiast of western life.
Bob's Pitchfork Country is full of the images of the cowboy way of life in all its beauty. Cowboys, wildlife, horses, cattle, landscapes, seasons and ranch kids, it is truly a great volume. Bob's style is romantic and nostalgic. His work reflects an accurate picture of the essence of ranch and cowboy life. Bob is enjoying his days with his family and still takes photographs on occasion. Good young horses like Mohawk help him stay young and keep him working at what he loves best -- being a cowboy.
