The Alien Romulus Leaks And Why They Worry Me

#alien #alienromulus #fedealvarez
Here are my thoughts on the new Alien Romulus leaks and why they worry me so much. I was very surprised by how much excitement the leaks were getting online over plot details that would better suit an AvP movie honestly. So I decided to share with you my feelings on how I now feel this movie will go. I still want to be proven wrong as I would love nothing more than to have a great Alien film but although I've been optimistic up until this point, I feel now sadly with these leaks that the film has taken a turn for the worse. Please let me know your thoughts below in the comments section and is you feel the leaks are good news then I would love to hear from you why as all perspectives are important. Thanks and enjoy.

I apologize for the 2nd comment. I just wanted to give @ENTERTAINtheDUDE the credit and praise that he deserves. I'm not a youtuber as i would like to be. I know that making these videos and editing them are a pain in the ass. We have a ton of Alien related youtubers out there but i'm only subscribed to the few i find entertaining. With no regret i can tell you that as of now, you are my favorite one to date. What you do in your videos and the fact that you make time to actually ineract with your subscribers says a lot about your commitment. The fact that you take the time to comment and interact with your audience is something that i don't see often. I am a massive Alien fan and i personally don't have any friends or family to share my cool stuff with or talk about my interests with. That is why it means a lot that you actually interact with people. It is a quality that is going to get you noticed and i know for a fact that you will blow up if you stay consistent with everything. I must sound like a dork right now, but i really don't care. You deserve to know that you've got people who appreciate you.

Holy Moly! I was just scrolling through the comments and found this. Listen, firstly thanks for the huge compliment and I'm also glad you noticed that I do really care of what I talk about. I love hearing from you guys and am also in the same boat where most of the people I know just don't care enough about these subjects. Sometimes makes you feel like an outcast haha. It's been back breaking trying to reply to everyone as I've never had this much instant success with a video before but damm it feels rewarding to engage with you all. @N0rseman It's really nice of you to leave this comment and encourages me to continue with my passion project of making these videos after work. Thanks again. Hopefully in the next few days I'll be able to upload my trailer reaction and I'll see you there my friend 👽

@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE Knowing what it takes to make these videos and edit them is why i needed to let you know how appreciated you are. I know it can be hectic and difficult to get back to everyone, and the fact that you do that shows how much passion you have for what you create. I am a massive Alien franchise fan among other movie/comic book genres and seeing that people such as yourself have the same passion for it is kind of relieving because IRL i don't have the opportunity to talk about these things. Both Prometheus and Covenant were very interesting and the plot twist about androids was phenomenal and very inteligent, since androids lack "soul/emotions", therefore why they could be responsible for "ehm". The problem was that screenplay of Prometheus was garbage, like written by 15 year old. The Covenant had better screenplay, but still badly written characters. I blame this on Ridley Scott, I think he wasn't challenged by production and crew.

It’s the “new forms” that gets me. This isn’t pokemon; we don’t need new creatures to watch, we just need new stories involving the one set up in the first two movies. Maybe that’s just me I also really dislike the black goo and the creation of the xenomorph that was set up in prometheus and covenant. I didn’t mind it at first, but over the years it’s felt worse and worse. It ruined the mystery behind both the xenomorph and the space jockey

  • @RaikenXion

    @RaikenXion

    3 ай бұрын

I like the idea of the black goo, but ONLY as a replicating, "John Hammond Jurassic Park" type of method, of replicating a version of a already pre-existing, ancient creature. Don't forget the Mural in Prometheus does still strongly suggest David replicated his own version, that was close to the original thing that existed eons ago, and was discovered by the Engineers. I prefer the idea the engineers themselves just found a way to create a more "Viral Bomb" method stored in those urns, of the biomechanical *Xenomorph*, because originally handling the actual eggs became too dangerous. that's the general idea i've always stuck to in my own headcanon which makes Prometheus and Covenant work well as prequels to the o.g. masterpiece ALIEN. But it always needed just one more sequel - "Alien: Awakening" to really connect those dots properly and explain what the Engineers were all about, while the ancient Xenomorphic creature could still remain completely mysterious. It's a shame Ridley lost the plot abit, preferring to delve more into David and A.I. instead of properly connecting the movies.

Well the idea of a abandoned Weyland/Yutani Space station shouldn't threaten any potential connection to Covenant, because it could be that at some point in the past, David met up with W/Y representatives, and gave his batch of replicated facehugger embryos to W/Y where a team of scientists experimented with them. Maybe David actually worked with a group of scientists on the space station, secretly using them all as just subjects for his own continued experiments regarding the Xenos, and they all died with just the facehugger eggs left.

But unfortunately, she's 74, and I just don't see her strapping on the old M-41 pulse rifle at this point. I began to see that it was a perfect movie and not just a horror flick. Alien is not the picture I thought it was. After watching it a few times I began to pay attention to all the details. There are so many questions that are not answered. So when Prometheus came out I was happy to see that it answered all my questions. Most people didn't like it because they really needed to pay attention. All the answers are there. The Extended version with all the outtakes is the perfect film. But I was disappointed when Covenant pulled back the story in an attempt to satisfy critics who turns out didn't like it anyway. All the humans on the planet are wiped out and only a few manage to escape in a spaceship. Then they nuke the planet from orbit. Then Weyland-Yutani regrets the decision and a hunt for the xenomorph begins. They get a tip that there's a crashed spaceship on lv426 and sends the robot Ash on the Nostromo spaceship. But they are informed that the mission has failed and that Nostromo has gone missing. Then Weyland-Yutani get's a tip about an xenomorph on Fiorina161 and sends a team of researchers there. They finds a surviving prisoner that is impreagnated and a queen is born. Weyland-Yutani then wants to use the xenomorphs on the planets where the engineers are located because they want the technology to seed planets with life. They also want the elixir that provides humans with prolongued life. After they have managed to give birth to a flock of xenomorphs, they drops them on an engineer planet and causes everyone of them to die. Then they get hold of the blue elixir that gives prolongued life. But several ships with engineers that where away from their planet when Weyland-Yutani wiped the population out, pursue them and manages to get the elixir back, but gets trapped on the planet where both parties crash. Then a battle takes place and the crew from Weyland-Yutani gets the elixir that gives them prolongued life for thousands of years, but they are now trapped on the planet, with no means to get anywhere. But then they see a light aproaching, but is the spaceship friends or foes ? It turns out it is the engineers and after a battle they gets hold off the blue elixir once again, and that gives the cliffhanger for a second season that we must wait several years to see???

Interestingly Prey did not receive a cinema release in any territory, and no one is talking the numbers from week two on wards as Hulu discovered what the term "front end load" means. AR is getting a cinema release which indicates the Studio is confident this one is going to be a commercial success. The problem with the Alien franchise is no one is finding the Xeno frightening anymore and we basically get the same tropes movie after movie. My concern is they are going down the Jaws route, if a large shark is frightening to audiences (movie 1) then lets make them even larger, and hey they can roar, movie 2 to movie 4. This falls more into the realms of self parody than improving on what we have seen previously. Prey was a much better movie than I was expecting, still with huge issues, so I hold out hope for AR and will be there opening weekend. Great vid dude, at least someone is telling it how it is rather than getting caught in a simp frenzy.

Much appreciated buddy and your analogy and interpretation makes sense. I always am concerned by what studios regard aa success when anticipating a films reception but I think it's mostly down to stats and numbers on a commercial basis rather than understanding what made the OG films so great. I agree that sometimes they just look at how to add and add until the the creature stops being what it once was. Look at what they did in the Predator movie with giant predators and then a predator killing suit at the end of the film, absolute trash. Anyways, let's 'prey' this one respects where it came from and also respects us.

Alien had a really simple plot. Crew trapped in a confined dark space with a Xenomorph. That gives more time for character development. We have a great director behind this, and he seems passionate about this project. It'll all rely on the acting prowess and whether or not the studio will allow the original vision and not meddle with it. Fingers crossed.

It seems really odd that W-Y would leave a space station, upon which they experimented on xenos, to just float around abandoned. Not that the crew would be able to destroy it if/when things go pear-shaped (if they were overwhelmed, doubtful they could self-destruct it like the Nostromo was). However, I have a feeling W-Y would try to salvage it (for he research), or "nuke it from orbit" so that no one else could get it. I dunno....just seems off, to me. Agreed, just from the basic information there are far, far too many plot holes and unimaginably bad plot devices. W/Y (or whomever is studying these) has a big multi-billion dollar interest in these? How is it these are abandoned? No distress signals, nobody shows up? And the other unrealistic device is apparently discovering a floating alien in space, which sounds just ridiculous. And the group of teenager DEI stars is another bad sign, as is the obviously over-used CGI and saturation rather than practical effects. And jump scares... looks really bad to be honest.

Thanks for the analytics of the leaks. However, I think you may be overthinking how this film will turn out. Without the benefit of having read the final screenplay and the fact that you have been let down by the previous franchise films, I think you may be a bit over critical in your prognosis of how Romulous will turn out. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

Hehe, well said. Yes, I guess my videos are more of an expression of temporary thoughts and feelings only but I am hoping for something thrilling in the cinema that might surprise me. It's easy to be critical before seeing the finished product of course and I hope my fears are put to rest on the day. The last part of your sentence can easily be attributed to Neil Bloomkamp's work after District 9. People expected perfection after that film and critiqued his following films to oblivion because they sought a miracle and we're only given something great.

I was fully onboard until you got to the part where they somehow recovered and dissected the original Alien. I could understand maybe a W-Y ship sneaking in right after Aliens and grabbing the queen since she was simply flushed into space near LV-426, but the original thing was supposed to have been vaporized by the shuttle engines out in the middle of deep space. It reeks of the Force Awakens first draft of Luke's hand and lightsaber floating through space towards Jakku.

Either way, the final opening of TFA is still probably one of the better scenes of the movie. Stuff like that is what makes me wish the Alien saga had ended at 3, if no one can possibly conceive of an Alien movie without it having Ripley or an alien from the original Derelict. The comics, books, games, and even Prometheus at least established that things could happen in all the random corners of the galaxy, and there are plenty of other grotesque creatures out there besides the basic xenomorph that could be incorporated into a movie or series.

The David Story as now a side story that doesn't affect the actual timeline with his aberrations, I guess could be settled on the upcoming TV series. You know established actor now do TV appearances. My worry is that alien was paced very slow and its more artsy even for its time than anyone would think to give it credit for. Aliens was a product of its time as well, its a lot like all james cameron films of that era. Generally speaking none of the reboots of classic films live up to the nostalgia we have for them or their quality. The modern "good filmmaking" becomes very obviously poor when you've got something genius with "outdated filmmaking" to compare it to. I think studios just want to follow a formula and follow expectations with no regard for quality of the artistic work. I'd really rather have more prometheus films with less studio meddling and input. Less forced xenomorphs, less throwbacks to alien, and less CGI. Both were fascinating and beautiful films. Both desperately need to be recut.

But in Prometheous the was a figure sculped on the wall that was a Queen or a Drone. So the Xenomorphs existed before David was involved. How does this all work? A good point to bring up @BlackAdder1970. I always interpreted it as the goo was created by the engineers and they learnt it's secrets long ago. As you say, they had a mural on the wall depicting this that was built maybe thousands of years prior to Prometheus. Who knows but hinging the perfect organisms creation on David's experiments was daft to me. Surely he only stumbled upon the goo's potential?

If it doesn't reinforce the ORIGINAL canon and fix the GARBAGE that was both Prometheus and Covenant, I'm not interested. And, so far, if the "how the xenomorph ended up on a station" is accurate, it's complete BS and utterly defies the events that led up to Aliens. This is going to be stupid. It sounds like the only thing they are doing is using the alien character and heavier gore to make a quick dollar from the shallow public.

Yep, I agree. It sucks that they feel the need to to dumb down in rapid succession the original concept with imbecilic ridiculousness. It was better when the Xenimorph alien was a naturally evolutionary species encountered, instead of a bioweapon created by a god-complexed android and a black goo manipulated by space engineers. Preposterous!

My issue with Prometheus and Covenant was never the aesthetics - sometimes a juxtaposition elevates the tension - but rather the fact that both films were populated with idiots who behaved irrationally, and in many cases completely against their stated character motivations or even against their own interests. Add in the garbage explanation of the engineers and David being responsible for the Xenos… ugh.

I can complete understand your frustration with those films for those reasons. The idiot that touched the giant worm just for fun made me cringe in the cinema when that happened. I would love an explanation from the writers as to why they thought that was a good idea. Maybe something got lost in translation from script to filming but i doubt it...

I don't agree it's far-fetched that they find 'big chap'. Today on earth we track space debris down to the size of tennis balls. So in future, surely scanners would find an 8ft tall creature in an area they know the Nostromo blew-up in. As a kid watching Alien, I always thought "HE'S NOT TOTALLY DEAD" and that kept me up at night! :-)

People are also saying the grappling hook would have had a tracking device on the bolt so who knows. I really hope they keep it smart and mature whatever they do with the story 👍

I think they showed way too much in the last trailer... and I agree with your point, I think that prometheus and covenant ruined the mystery behind the creature´s origin with cheap sci fi magic black goo, idk I prefer to keep that unknown, or find a better origin.

Interestingly, they kept those aspects out of the recent trailer so we still have no idea how much the film will invest in the prequel logic. The goo and engineer narrative haven't done much justice for the Alien franchise of late 😞

Sounds disappointing to me. The research station has already been done. Sadly we will never get closure in how the juggernaut ended up where it did with a bay full of eggs. The idea was Scott to finish the saga. That was supposed to be the end game for Scott. This sound disappointing at best. I will be taking a pass.

Prometheus was a start, introducing the engineers and their use of the juggernauts as a transport for weapons of mass destruction. The black goo was a bad idea, there was none of this in the original ship in alien, just a chamber full of eggs /facehuggers. Covenant just perpetuated the joke with a particularly insipid lead female - I thought Karine Oram had more about her than Daniels

I think the best case scenario is to get something on par with Alien 3, a movie some will love, some will hate, and most will think is OK.
