Well Dude, I must say I was absolutely knocked out by the trailer as well. "dripping with atmosphere" might be a well worn cliche, but let's face it, it fits. The attention to period detail in The Witch, even in the dialogue made it such a stand out. You just knew a very special writer/director had arrived in Eggers. Coppola, another director of note of course, caused quite a stir when he announced he was taking on Bram Stoker's novel, but I can't help but think his film will look like a Disney movie compared to Nosferatu. With a December 25th release date, it's nice to know that we will have in cinemas, a feel good Christmas movie the whole family will enjoy. Lol.

Even though Eggers did masterful work with Anya (and I'd love to see her as my first choice in this role, given that it's his), and even though I'm sadly not very impressed with the majority of Dafoe's work (an unpopular opinion, but one which I _very_ easily stand by, aside from Platoon, To Live & Die in LA, The Lighthouse, Shadow of the Vampire, and ~2 others over his _entire life's_ filmography) - I'll willingly trust _his_ willingness to work with Lily here, until demonstrated otherwise. It does look beautiful, as you would expect from Eggers, but, am I the only one who was a little disappointed by this trailer? If you think back to just how differently paced and unusual the trailers for The Witch were, how much they set up a slow, creeping, feeling of dread...then how unusually choppy and stark The Lighthouse trailers were.... this Nosferatu trailer has a very standard Hollywood 'Horror Movie' trailer pacing, complete with sudden thuds on the soundtrack and the promise of lots of Jump Scares. I hope I'm wrong, he's such an individual voice, but it seems like he's starting to conform to The Hollywood playbook with this one. Fingers tightly crossed!

I think a part of that could be just based on how well known this story is. They could have made things more vague I guess but I do get what you mean. I can't believe this will be a straight up adaption, even though the trailer doesn't offer any evidence to think otherwise of course. But even if his fourth film is more typical than his others, I'm hoping it will be as creepy as The Witch whilst showing so much more of the protagonist, which we never had in The Witch 🤞🤞
