Couldn’t agree more. A friend and I walked up Ben Nevis with Mike and his wife Jules,as part of the Ben Nevis Rocks cancer charity that Mike set up,and they are 2 of the nicest, most down to earth people you could ever meet.Mike standing with the acoustic guitar, outside the visitor centre,at 5 o’clock in the morning, singing ‘We Are The Light’just as the mountain was starting to appear out of the darkness in the background, was an experience I will remember for the rest of my life🥲

Love this song. I had got my best friend hooked on U2 and he got me hooked on the this band, way before this song. Years later we found out that Bono/U2 had been influenced by the The Alarm's style for Joshua Tree.

I tried to fine the interviews with Mike Peters and Bono. And cannot find them on KZread. The Alarm had toured with U2 on the War or Unforgettable Fire. So, the sound of the Alarm was familiar. They are still friends to this day is my understanding.

I'm Welsh and that's exactly the same for me. I was too young to be buying music when it came out, but I had this song as an ear worm for about 3 decades but without any words, I could not find it online. I then went to an Alarm gig at Cardiff Uni and they started playing this and I honestly couldn't believe my ears!! I finally had the answer after all those years. There's a great documentary on the BBC if you can find it about Mike and his wife and both their battles with different cancers. He seems incredibly down to earth and is a very proud Welshman!! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

About 15 years ago, I wrote a note to Mike Peters directly telling him that they had created “an amazing piece of sonic sculpture” with this song, and HE WROTE BACK, thanking me “for my kind words and appreciation.” I’ve never forgotten that and I still play this song to this day-it was their Magnum Opus.

Bono cannot even approach the creativity and overall talent that the blessed Mike Peters possesses in tonnage. U2 were commercial cuties before they even realized that they were phony sellouts only interested in top 40 ditty’s. Since the savage, severe strength of “DECLARATION “, when I first noticed and started listening to their music, The Alarm are known only to folks who truly appreciate incredible songwriting, brilliant musicians who played to the hearts of those who really knew the importance of tremendous lyrical composition that stood for truth, faith, and the correct way of living through this depraved world of ours. May GOD Bless Mike Peters and the rest of the Chaps…

Was umpiring a baseball tournament a couple years and it started to rain. I went in the press box and started playing this song over the speakers. The parents were going nuts !!!!! A few of them had said they had forgotten the song or it reminded them of their college days. The rain eventually stopped by they kept playing it in the press box between innings anyway.

Right now, being mildly drunk and with the world getting more and more stupid by the second, is just the right moment for this fine piece of music to penetrate my brain. So much passion and power in his voice! I am now a fine, like 38 years late.
