The Aladdin Movie Disney Buried and REFUSED to Make: A Kid in Aladdin’s Palace

Фильм және анимация

Disney REFUSED to participate in this live action Aladdin themed movie that was intended to be A Kid in King Arthur's Court 2! A Kid in Aladdin’s Palace is definitely one of the most CRINGE follow-ups to a Disney movie ever made and it’s easy to see why it was buried Straight to Video.

The original wise cracking, fast talking genie was Jim Backus in the Bugs Bunny cartoon A‑Lad‑In His Lamp. Which pretty much was the inspiration for the entire movie.

In the 1990s Disney made a bunch of what if slapstick comedy time travel movies or more precisely kids traveling to folkloric stories long before Once Upon A Time made it cool. And this is why we have A Kid in Arthur's court and this movie and they had the same formula of placing a modern day kid in the middle of popular stories. Honestly I love the concept of a fish out of water story where the main character is completely out of his or her element and bungles along the way.

I loved the first movie when I was a kid, and I knew there was a second one, but I only ever saw a little bit of it on tv once (ironically enough, on the Disney Channel, back when it was a premium cable network). I always built up this movie in my head, like it was this great lost film that I had to see. This review makes me think I may have dodged a bullet.

I love how the promo for this movie had the nurve to call "A Kid In King Arthur's Court" highly successful. As if they were scared to acknowledge that it was a big fat financial flop.

I loved the first movie when it first came out and I remember watching the beginning of this movie as a kid too saying to myself wait what happened to the other girl from the 1st movie . I had watched the whole 2nd movie but I couldnt help but feeling disappointed with it at the end .

Haha! Amazing(ly bad). I also had no idea this exists. Out of all the adaptations, this is the only sequel. I saw the original as a kid and recently made a list of all adaptations I could find. I was able to track down all but the partially-lost 1921 silent film and the 1960 television episode. The story was adapted at least once a decade from 1921 to 2001, but there don't seem to have been any adaptations in more than two decades now! _A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court_ (1889) (novel) _A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court_ (1921) (silent movie) _A Connecticut Yankee_ (1927) (musical play) _A Connecticut Yankee_ (1931) (movie) "A Knight for a Day" (1946) (animated short) _A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court_ (1947) (radio play) _A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court_ (1949) (musical movie) "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" (1952) _(Studio One_ S04E06) "Tennessee Ernie Ford Meets King Arthur" (1960) _(Startime_ S01E31) _A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court_ (1970) (animated TV movie) "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" (1978) _(Once Upon a Classic_ episode) "A Connecticut Rabbit in King Arthur's Court" (1979) (animated short) _A Spaceman in King Arthur's Court (Unidentified Flying Oddball)_ (1979) (movie) "A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court" (1985) _(The Transformers_ S02E22) "Sir Gyro de Gearloose" (1987) _(DuckTales_ S01E17) _New Adventures of a Yankee in King Arthur's Court_ (1988) (movie) _A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court_ (1989) (TV movie) "Good Knight MacGyver" (1991) _(MacGyver_ S07E07-08) _King Arthur and the Knights of Justice_ (1992-1993) (animated TV series) _A Young Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court_ (1995) (movie) _A Kid in King Arthur's Court_ (1995) (movie) _A Kid in Aladdin's Palace_ (1997) _A Knight in Camelot_ (1998) (movie) _Black Knight_ (2001) (movie)

Holy sh*t! That Genie is Taylor Negron! Seriously underrated character actor. I worked in a local video rental store when this came out, I dont recall it exactly flying off the shelves. I think in my 4 years there I saw come and go a couple of times.

I'm like "no" it was successful with families on TV and home video. The test of real success for movies ( back then) is in theaters where it bombed critically and commercially. I only knew of this movie on Disney Channel in the 2000s.
