    I think there is literally like 12 people who are upset because of women, lesbians etc.. the rest of us are just frustrated for all of the same reasons you are, bad writing, bad characters and motivations, lore breaking material. We just get casted as bigots and misogynist because that’s the only way they know how to discredit our criticisms. We just want Star Wars to be fun and exciting again.

    @rileylopez113 First, there are a lot more than just "12 people" who are upset about women, lesbians, etc. Second, not saying the show is perfect but what some consider bad writing and bad characters actually boils down to them not really paying attention. Third, just because someone isn't complaining about women and minorities doesn't automatically mean they are coming from a place of good faith. I think we have to be honest; The Acolyte is NOT being judged by the same standard because they are women and minorities as the leads. There is thing called unconscious bias where you can impose unfair bias without even realizing it. Not saying that everyone who doesn't like The Acolyte suffer from unconscious bias, but we can't pretend that unconscious bias isn't a thing.

    This made me realise why I have a problem with writing in this show. The main characters do not have clear, human motivations. All other characters have it, but not the heroines. I know what Sol wants: - he wants to save Mae and to achieve redemption for whatever he had done I know what Qimir wants: - he wants a new acolyte who would fulfill his trials I know what Venestra wants: - to contain the problem at hand, so that Jedi's political opponents won't have grounds to attack them But I do not know what the main heroines want: - Mae wants to kills the Jedi... until she wants to be freed from her master and be reunited with her sister... until she apparently goes back to her original plan of killing the Jedi, while leaving Osha behind on a Jungle planet, unconscious. I have to ask the question... is she insane? - Osha apparently wants revenge against her sister... until she does not want to get involved. She wants to stay away from the action, and her sister. So she does not really have any stakes in the story. Yet she tags along. At then she wants revenge at the sister again. So while our background characters have very good motivations, the motivations of our heroines are very vague and mercurial. Who would find characters like that attractive to follow?

    I have no idea how we had very subpar writing in episodes 1 and 2, great writing in 3, mediocre writing in 4 and then bad in 5. I absolutely love the fight choreography, and the performances of Sol, Jecki and Mae/Osha are really good, but the writing is CW network bad. They still won’t say what Sol and the Jedi did to Osha, Mae tried to kill Jecki instead of surrendering like she said she was going to. And there’s no reason Sol shouldn’t have killed the Sith right then and there.

    you are missing key things that happened, she did not know the master was on the planet, and once she saw him, her fear of him changed her plain,, just as her love of her sister changed her plain. I agree the writing is bad, but it was not out of nowhere. He said your sister being alive changed nothing and she replied it changes everything, which led to her wanting to turn herself in, but that changed once she said the Master had killed the Jedi and was there, she knew they were all dead. She knew if she turned herself into the jei or was captured the master would kill her, so no it was a matter of survival to not be captured. So like in life events alter your choices and what choices you will make are not set in stone, most of us would have made the pivots, that is what she did it actually makes more sense than you give it credit for. Just like I feel Sol will die or not return to the order, so the Jedi will never know this guy existed, leaving the cannon intact. I will agree this show is not good, but it is not as bad as everyone makes it, it is a 5 out of 10 so far at 50% it could get better or worse, but it is not as bad as John feels, but that said he has every right to feel as if it sucks and that fair, love it, hate it, or anywhere in between it all valid, but this is my take on it. The need to make these episodes long er and everyone hit harder there is no room for fillers in 8 30-minute episodes for a season, that is the biggest problem for me.

    @@k--music That I agree with I just don't agree that these are plot holes or problems what he pointed out, that said I agree the writing is bad and right now it's only a 5 out of 10 there's still three more episodes they might be able to get it to a six or seven and if they get it to a six the show is successful If they don't then the show was not successful if they get into a seven the show was good I don't see how anyway they could get it to it or a nine and a ten impossible. But I'll wait until it's done and then I'll judge it it's also possible the next three episodes could be like episode 3 or 4 and make it afford of 10 or 3 out of 10. • @Zatheris76

    @Zatheris76

    @@user-pv9gb5op2e I literally just did explain it and it makes absolute sense. The reason why Mae change her opinion to turn herself into the Jedi was because now she knows her sister is alive and she stayed it so but then on the way to turn herself in she finds the Jedi wookie already dead and then as she continues she sees her master so she knows he is there and she is fairly confident he's going to kill everyone, therefore now she doesn't want to be taking him by the Jedi who she believes is going to be dead he wants to find her sister and try to save her sister which is exactly why she switches tactics again. The situations changed first she thought she was on the planet by herself with some goofy shopkeeper who she trapped she laid that trap specifically so she could then go turn herself into the Jedi and go off the end What changed that was the new information that her sister was now alive and that what she even told by her master and been doing was a lie. Then out of fear after she saw the Jedi working killed anti saw her master and knew the master was going to try to kill her which she did she did not want to be turned over the Jedi cuz she felt they were all going to be killed and they were except for one. She acted at a self-preservation and the only person she cared about at that point was her self and her sister which you tried to then convince her sister to choose her and come with her and when that didn't work the only other way for survival was to take her place. The reason why Sol You can stop to investigator is because she looked just like her wearing the exact same clothes and he had no reason to think that the sister would put the other sister in harm's way and take her clothes and they were running from a massive battle where every other good I had been murdered and his number will concern was getting them out of their safely so he didn't stop for safety protocols that he didn't think were necessary You guys are analyzing this from the outside not from in the heat of the moment You're like people watching a boxing match saying oh he should have ducked right there oh he should have blocked right there That's all easy to do when you're on the outside it's very different when you're in there fighting for your life. As for the master I think he's fully aware that they switched which is why he took her in all of a sudden after trying to kill her sister cuz now it's another try at another person he can try and corrupt and you that betrayal as a way to turn her to the dark side I don't think he's fooled in any way she perform that there was not a switch there. So for those reasons it all makes perfect sense to me why she acted in the way she acted why she pivoted the way she pivoted it why he did not take time to force check her when he's never done that before he's always just assumed she was who she said she was and why I don't think the other guy is fooled and thinks they've switched. Nor do I think he's actually a sit he said some may call me a sith I don't think he's actually a sith I think he's a rod Jedi which is why the one kid knew who he was and the Jedi Master could sense something familiar about him it's something to do with what happened at that temple he is probably trained by the witch. If you would play games or done Legends you would know what force battle meditation is he used the opposite of that which is called force confusion which is how he was able to take all those Jedi down by entering their minds and confusing them which normally would leave him vulnerable to people getting into his mind but he had that helmet on and he even stated so when he asked him to take the helmet off and he said why so you can get into my head so they are explaining abilities that people from Legends already are aware of or if you play the Old Republic game you're aware of. I'm in Norway saying it this show is great it's not but I understand what they're doing and I don't see those as being problems there are a list of other problems with the show and the writing is bad and cutting from seeing the scene was annoying having episodes that are under 30 minutes is ridiculous there's a lot more I could point at that's wrong but these things I understand exactly what was going on and exactly why she did what you did. Day of the day I'm going to wait until the whole show is over and then I'll see if they answered any of the plot holes or problems that people are seeing they're definitely some there If he's actually a sith and every Jedi there is not murdered before they get back to the council that's a plot hole but I don't know that that's going to happen. I still think the witches are going to have something to do with it and I think that green Jedi chick is evil and she'll probably end up killing Sol. Or something else will happen there's more to the story to watch, but if you don't like it your point is totally valid I just disagree with the points for their above mentions that I have detailedly explained why I think you did what you did and how it's totally believable to me but that's me You don't have to agree with me I'm not trying to convince you.

    John may not want to hear this, but I’ll say it. Those people who he portrays as baby crying because “girls and gays” are, in actuality, saying that the only thing the show cares about is girls and gays. That is ALL the show wants to prioritize. Good story? Nope. Great characters and consistent motivations? Get out of here! But lesbian covens and girl power? Ding ding ding, we have a winner! Come on, John. Don’t miss the forest for the tree. These are not separate issues. They are the same issue. Proof? Who has complained about the lesbian girl power in Arcane? Literally no one of note.

    The showrunner explicitly said she wanted to write a story that would speak to queer people. That was, in her own words, her goal. And the themes are there, everywhere “the galaxy don’t accept women like us” “the Jedi say I’m not allowed to exist”, “we were persecuted because SOME would consider our power dark (different)”. All the messaging is there, and all of it at the cost of lore and character. Good writers can do both.

    The writing is terrible. The overall premise is good. Was expecting this series to be so much darker. Almost Andor level, given it was announced around the same time. My theory anyway is that he is trying to find an Acolyte to overthrow his master (rule of 2). Ultimately he kills Mae, Osha, and Sol, so they Council never learn that it was the Sith. His master finds out that he was trying to overthrow him and kills him in the final episode. Then we find out his master is Darth Plageuis.

I don't see what was bro about that and we can't be totally sure what's going on with him yet. Similar thoughts with Mae. She only changed her mind because she found out Osha was alive. The twins had different outfits on; after that battle he might have been glad to have Osha back. That's not that crazy either. Not perfect but not crazy. This kind of feels like the rest of the bro "cuz writing" takes all over the net. This show is twisting and turning episode to episode. We can't say for sure what happened until the story plays out.

    I do hear a lot of what you’re saying, but I think you did take one thing wrong. The way I saw it, Qimir was aware it Osha and not Mae at the end. But he wants her to be his new Acolyte. That was setup earlier in the episode. And the way he’ll turn her is by revealing what really happened with the Jedi before/during that fire. Because THAT’S the actual big mystery from this show. Not who’s killing Jedi or who’s the Sith. Just “WTF happened back then?” I keep going into new episodes thinking: “Oh, I hope this one wins them [you and Harloff] over.” So every time I hear the reactions, it saddens me. Interesting, though, how Alex (Star Wars Explained) said it was his favourite episode and he’s liked every episode better than the last. I guess we all look for different things.

    When 2 of the main characters are killed within 30 seconds, and you feel nothing, that's bad character development. Everyone on the show is a 1 note, 1 dimensional 1st draft. The only one with any complexity is Mae, and she is insane with the flip floppery. Duh. Mae will end up the Jedi and Osha finds out what they did (maybe we will find out too, in season 12,) and becomes the new Acolyte. Lazy.

    and to the switch, SOl was fleeing a death battle so he was moving fast and had no idea the sister would pull that and abandon her, also I think the Master was 100% aware that was Osia and not Mae. Once failed to turn so he tried again, kinda like Vader said if Luke will not turn perhaps she will. You are assuming answers to questions they have not answered and the show is not over, many things might make more sense in the end. He used Force confusion similar to the witches while blocking out the Jedi to his mind with the helmet. Much like Battel Meditation left the used vulnerable. he said some might call ema a Sith, he did not say he was Sith, he said he wanted to be left alone to use his power how he wanted with fear of the Jedi, that is not Sith, that is Soemthels. Darth Plaguis or Darth Tenbrith has to be around, he kills anyone that sees his face so the Sith or Jedi won't come after him, I do not think he ends up being a Sith or even the main Villain, The green Jedi is screaming villain. There is nothing this show can do to be a 10 out of 10 but it can be a 6 or 7 out of 10 if it ends strong, but many of the things you do not like I don't think are what you saying they are. I agree with you a lot, but here I think you made about things that are not what you are stating they are, but again if you do not like the show for whatever your reasons, that is always valid, I just don't agree and these are my reasons why. I do think you need to watch the full session before you judge it as things might become clear with you having the full story or re-watching to see if some of the complaints are not what happened once you see it thur other people's eyes.

It was mostly in the dark, the setting was bland and boring and there are many scenes where you can barely see what was going on. Yes, there are some excellent 'moments' such as the Dafne Keen dual wielding. Minus the flashback episode the time of reveal between us learning of a master and his helmet coming off is like an hour of content? That being said, merely knowing that his face is under the mask doesn't give us any real insight into who he is. @@WLDB nah it’s simple respect, the episode just aired a few days ago and this is a video on a different topic and so that came out of nowhere. Jonathan could’ve easily made the same point without spoiling another show, it’s a simple matter of respect.

    I don't get everyone talking up the action and choreography on this episode. It was edited so poorly that you rarely could get a clear sense of what was going on (I wholly disagree with John on that) however well it might have been choreographed, or it was obscured in a way that you couldn't see what was going on (when Osha is watching the fight through the trees). The cortosis reveal was confusing as a result--the first time through, I couldn't see what was going on with their lightsabers.

    There were some really cool moves (like the Sith skewering two jedis), but I agree, the overall editing was meh. Plus the plot amour inconsistencies - dispatching several knights with ease but struggling with a padawan. I do give them credit for killing the padawan and the dimwit jedi though, did not expect that. Although Jackie was just stabbed with a lightsaber, so she might be fine next week.

    Did you ever think that their focus is too much on gays, forced female characters, and political agendas and therefore the writing has been sacrificed? This is what people are talking about when bringing up this awful show. You can have a diverse cast and be successful. Rogue One was great and couldn’t be more diverse. Simply give a story that makes sense and respects what came before it and it’s crazy how something diverse can be actually good. It’s just so obvious what the true focus was for this show when you have heard anything from the show runner, writers, and cast. That is the point you are missing from other people bashing this show. House of the Dragon is another diverse show that has strong women as the main focus of the show. What is your explanation of that?

    There's people on the right who will complain about lesbians and women starring in their favourite shows but I think that's a huge minority of them. For people on the left like John I think it's a cop out to prefix every critisism of this show (or any which has clear terrible writing) with "for those who hate lesbians and the gaaayysss". It's poor man
