@@donnelladams8362 go to 27 & Pennsylvania by the art museum or 21st and Hamilton/Pennsylvania avenue and you can find the entrances.
I was born in South Philly in the 1940s and have always thought this was a city with historical charm and beauty that was ignored by the rest of the country. Too bad the heart of this “City of Neighborhoods” has been ripped out by misguided politicians and crusading activists. This video was very well-done. Brava!
I have been under byberry state hospital and much more. Just trying to see what I missed in 51 years. Good work bro. Gerald
That's amazing! Definitely adding this place to my bucket list for my home city
I think your whole channel is amazing. Philadelphia is a beautiful place to live. Sharing the awe of Philadelphia's scenery, culture, and people is a niche now filled. I can't wait to see your work, and following grow! Thanks

i beg to differ. philly is filthy, plagued with unessessary violence, home to thousands of drug addicts and homeless people. they call philly the city of brotherly love. thats a crock of shit. not to mention the rude and obnoxious folks that live here. so go ahead and tell people lies.

I left the city 4 months ago, I couldn't stand it anymore!
I lived in Philly from 2008 to 2011 and never knew about this. Very cool!
I love watching documentaries about spooky and secret tunnels, and mysterious places.
This used to be the Reading Railroad City Branch. It connected the line at Belmont. It was also used by the B&O to reach its tracks at Chestnut Street.

The locomotive on my profile pic was used on that route and still survives.
I love your videos, and this one is absolutely beautiful too! I'm moving to Philly in a few months and I'm already excited to be there. Thank you so much for all your hard work!
Woah!!! Ur a deep dude. i like the way u narrate. the song makes me feel relaxed and in awe. I live in Philly. Im subscribing to ur channel. Keep up the good work.
I do want more. Im from L.I. and South Jersey but now reside in California. I love this stuff.
I have to check this place out. Very well done!
I believe part of the right of way for the tracks is used as parking for the 9th District PPD and the lower level of the Free Library Parkway Central.
One of my classmates lost his right arm and left leg jumping the gap on top of the trains as it entered the tunnel under 27th street. One of my brothers classmates lost an arm playing on the tracks...... those tunnels have a bigger history with gangs from fairmount in the 60 & early 70’s. The trains stopped running paper to the inquire building in the 90’s. Oddly enough when there wasn’t anywhere to go in the cold & snow you could always run a muck in the tunnels. There’s tunnels under the art museum however you’d need to know were they are to access.
I knew it part of the Reading terminal now it's a bike trail, a nice bike trail
Lived here eighty five years never heard of it.
Can one still get in this place or is it now off limits?
Do you have any information about the abandoned subway tunnels under Roosevelt Boulevard?

Lots of research and meager results. City proposed the line connect at fern rock station, then continue to sears. There was a proposal to have the line run under Godfrey Avenue. Residents were outraged and the idea was scrapped. Rumor has it that the new station was already built with entrance to one side of the 3 tier parking garage. Also heard that the underpass had an entry (to the subway) midway through the underpass. Been waiting for some adventure seeker to explore the site. Find out if the tracks were laid, and where was the station? Neighborhood's sketchy at best so forewarned forearmed.
Awesome! Bring them on!
Where is this located? Where's the best opening to get to it?
Ive lived in philly for almost three years and i didn't know about this!
You can find some of my work in this tunnel and the old septa stations.🖤

I can't wait for our real history to come out. Who build those? They added 1000 years to our history... What a great time to be alive
There’s plenty more history to the viaduct and the low lying tracks that extend from 21st to 15th. Street. I grew up in Shamokin street along the stretch of track from 20th to 19th. Before the track was there it was filled with water and used as a mote for merchants to bring goods into the city. Way way before my time however still Franklintown history.
Hello, Any Updates in 2021?
Could anyone provide an approximate entry point
Very interesting video
Still waiting for more of these.

This tunnel was built by and for the Reading Railroad. The frequent overhead grates was to release smoke built up by Reading locomotives as they came and went.

That would give away this hidden secret and gem. If you know where to look and sleuth, you will find it. I was just at the mouth of the tunnel in the hours of this morning. I stared into its Jaws and daren't go in. Freaky at night.
I remember seeing trains there
That's nothing talk abt the slave tunnels that come from North Philly to West Philly, I like to think the abolitionist Steve Smith , under his nursing establishment there tunnels.
I’ve walked this tunnel many times and actually walked out right under a police station. They didn’t do a thing. My profile pic is actually graffiti I found down there.

@@torimarch5089 The woods at the foot of ~28th St. and Pennsylvania Ave. South side of tracks. There's a foot bridge over the tracks on the north side. Or at the dead end of Aspen St.
The city should make this into a shopping and entertainment area and call it "Underground Philly" or something like that. Like Underground Atlanta! I did see a train track early in this video. Does that track go all the way thru the tunnel? It didn't look like it came out the other side.

Well, to do that, they would have to convince Conrail to sell it, and that won't happen.

Hello there ! That stretch of Track runs from the area of the Phila . Zoo to the East side of the Kelly Drive , Goes under the Parkway , and passes behind the Phila. Community College , then passes under the old Smith Kline French Bldg. Then it travels under 15th St. , Ran under the Phila . Inquirer Bldg. , then goes under Broad St. Here it spread out sideways to a six track roadway. It then passed above the Broad Street Subway and came out to start it's way up to the surface along side of the 401 Bldg . Then , It continued on East to Noble St. and Delaware Ave .I rode that freight line many times when I worked for the Paper
What street is that on

I think that's where that new bike trail is going to be.
Looks very hazardous, a fall hazard, trash collector, rodent lair.
