The 5 Most Amazing Forks in Chess
Ойындар
Join GM Simon Williams (@GingerGM) as he breaks down five of his favorite forks in chess history! In chess, a fork is a tactic whereby a single piece makes two or more direct attacks simultaneously. It is also called a double attack. These moves come from some of the greatest chess players of all time including Bobby Fischer, Magnus Carlsen, and Tigran Petrosian. Which of these is YOUR favorite chess fork?

The last fork is actually impressive
The last one, with Re4 is one of the most amazing sacs in recent decades, especially from an optical point of view. It was serious magic. Put your rook where THREE pieces can take it and all three takes lose. Just unbelievable.
Magnus' vision is just beyond amazing.

Honestly that’s something a lot of people see tho, the initial move was the only hard part, the one after that was so much more impressive imo
I like how theses were turned into daily puzzles
I'm so proud of myself for figuring out a couple of these on my own. Especially the last one.

So grateful to simon. Learning level after watching series of games and his vid has no comparison. I learn 10x more watching his content. Superb!
The Qh8+ move was amazing, but even better was the editing + reaction from GingerGM, lol
Brilliant moves. I am sure every chess player would be proud to find gems like these in their own games.
04:21 "it can jump into f6". It's actually f7 😁
Fun and instructive; thank you for sharing.
The last one appears on Tim Krabbe's "Chess Curiousities" from about 15 years ago.
Very nicely explained, thanks man!
The 1966 WCC Game 10, for Petrosian to defeat Spassky, in that way, in only 30 moves in that high stakes of a context, is hands down my favourite. The double exchange sacs earlier in the game and the queenside pawn chain just screams the Iron Tigran, too
I've seen all these forks, and 50 more of them in a game.. the best chess game to train you to be a master
"I suppose if you see your imminent death you might as well just end it now" LOL

Keep on amazing content please. Btw you can do top 10 :)
Amazing as usual
1. Completely missed that bishop on d6 is unprotected (although was staring at Qe2 with the same idea but doesn't achieve anything) 2. Found queen sac, but didn't find a mate with Bh3 3. Found Qh8, hooray! If it wasn't last move highlighting - I'd fail 4. Fischer is out of this world, oh my god. Missed that 5. King already "forking" rooks so wasn't hard to find. Damn those are sexy forks
the first one isn't a fork, but a double attack.
My 2 favorite players, Fischer and Tal
I am impressed with these forks
The third one was great
2:30 so proud of myself for finding it

Number 3 is so nice

Waitin for Simon's forks of play
i liked the one from magnus the most because i couldnt see it since it is a few turns in advance.
I agree with Ashwin Vijayakumar
"pronounce that very carefully if you try to say it"
Number 3 man... absolutely the best
I found all of them except the one on the game of Bobby Fischer , BOAH that's brillant!
Great video. Very informational! It's even inspired me to post some chess videos on my channel! Keep up the good work.
4:49 that picture from Olympiad, Leipzig 1960.
I acctually saw that last one but none of the other ones
3 one is so easy to spot👍
Hey Simon! I like your videos. Cheers from Croatia..
Man the last one is madd
My favorite was the magnus and the last! because the last is amazing! I think all them (winners) are computers or monsters in the chess.
The part where he said becareful how you say fork you will get in trouble!
Qh8+ is a beautiful move
What game was the Tal v Fischer? Would love to go back and see how Tal managed to win!
Now I'm all discombobulated!
The Petrosian one I'm familiar with as I'm a fan of his. The last one I thought of but didn't see the ingenuity of the move in its fullness..
7:15 in the final position, i think the fork is, rook to e4, if white captures with either one of the rooks you capture back with the d5 pawn and then the pawn is attacking the bishop and your king is attacking the remaining rook, if bishop captures then pawn captures the bishop, and the rooks ar disconnected and no longer defend each other and the king forks them both
@impostor6982
3 жыл бұрын
Lol if the king was one square closer white would still be fine cuz his king could step in on e3 and save it and then black is just down an exchange but alas that is not the case
self fork: Woow fork 2 castle by king: Wooooooooooooooooow.
Forks are great and all, but have you tried spoons?
5:09 - "he is forking and forking. Pronounce that correctly otherwise you might get in trouble."
The best fork was the last one. It's a shame that we don't know who exactly played the game. Absolutely brilliant!
The last one is the best fork i have ever seen. Damn
The last one was fu***** smart
Actually found the last, idk if it’s impressive or not, but the feeling of finding it was great
"fork town population: you"

Did you get that from poker? There's an episode where a poker player tells Phill. "Welcome to value town, population = YOU!" Lol, one of my favorite poker moments
Wow I actually found all of then except the first
Honestly the #3 was easy to me. I found it instantly. Petrosian v2 Upgrades people upgrades
Still trying to recover to the seeing of the last one
the only one I could guess was #5 although I came close on #1
7:01 very unique
Top 5 intermezzos please
These were so easy, I found all of them!!!😁🤙🤙🤙
Can't believe i actually managed to get some of those
There are two notable positions from Morphy games that I would like to mention Williams sir (i forget his opponent's names thought) one position was this the king on c8 Queen on d7 morphys bishop on E6 and the rook on F5 forking/pinning (take your pick) the whole family it was a beautiful position I believe never reached again and the same family pin/fork again but now with the dark bishop on f6 rook on h8 the king on d8 and the queen on d4 I believe do check it out thks
#3 in my head: Qh8+ Kxh8 Nxf8+ and fork
Top 5 pawn promotes ( when passes pawns is better than pieces for example la boursaniias vs McDonnell
I literally just played this as a puzzle. 2:15 | SO vs CARLSEN
5 one was god level fork
