I don't know why car manufacturers are all emphasizing increasingly larger wheels, when it's less economical in terms of gas consumption and more energy-intensive for an electric car. If the Prius Prime had 17-inch wheels, instead of 21-inch wheels, it would have more electric range, at least 10 miles more minimum.

I have a recent ES350, and I'm impressed by this new Camry. With this new hybrid setup, It is difficult for EVs to compete. At 45-50MPG, you are talking about 580 miles + of range. You may have to fill up once or twice a month. Please compare each cabin's ride quality and quietness when you have a moment with an F Sport ES350.

Great video Kirk. This brings the car down to earth to the reality level. These are all the things that bring buyers remorse after you've signed your life away. The takeaway here? Keep it simple. The more tech you buy, the crazier you will be. I had a loaded 2023 Camry XSE AWD for a week as a loaner with all the bells and whistles while my 2018 base LE Hybrid was indisposed. The JBL audio system in the XSE drove me crazy with all the rattles coming from the panels. The safety feature that automatically slowed the car down for the corners drove me crazy. I found it and turned it off. (Whew!) The lane keeping assist made me angry with all the tugging of the wheel while I was driving. Off it went. The big 19" wheels felt heavy and took the nimbleness away that my 18 LE Hybrid had. The 360 camera was distracting and gave a terrible view when it rained due to water on the lenses which at times gave a false sense of security due to the image being distorted from the water. When I got my LE Hybrid back I felt like now I was now back in the sports car of Camry's! It was quicker, more nimble, much lighter feeling, and just more fun to drive. And my very nice sounding 6 speaker audio system had none of those rattles! So good to be home. 😊

Thank you! Kirk for mentioning and pointing this out about the lack of energy flow monitor on all the Camrys trims on the multimedia screen. This vehicles are part of an beyond zero goal that Toyota has with all its new HEV's. For an icon on the Toyota line up, as the Camry is, they are missing an essential tool that basically tells the driver how your car is working and what is happening with the hybrid system and the power train. This is a tool for all drivers that helps them to be more efficient and conscious about fuel economy. This is clearly Toyota being negligent. Im an owner of a LE 2025 and it is missing this feature as well. I contacted Toyota and they give me a default customer service message that "your concern is being heard" which I dont think is true. So, thank you for bringing this up, and give us a voice to Toyota customers and Camry owners. even on the owners manual, page 114 this is a feature that is falsely advertised and it says that this is available on the multimedia screen but this is false. There are several reviewers that notice the lack of the energy flow monitor as well. This is clearly an error from Toyota and they are just disregarding the customer voices. All the other manufacturers of hybrids have functions that allow the driving to understand the how the power is being generated, even the corolla 2024 hybrid has it and the software looks exactly the same. Hopefully they pay attention to this matter. There is a reddit about it as well for Camry 2025 owners.

Makes me glad I found an XSE with just the pano roof and not the rest of the premium package, about $3k cheaper. Sounds like the driver assist systems and JBL in the premium package aren't really worth it.
When turning DMC off, will it stay off permanently? Or does it default to "on" at each car start and must you turn it off each time?
I am so glad that you are really giving the viewer a honest description of the things that SUCK in what Toyota is doing and not just the good that should be in these expensive vehicles
I wish the packages were grouped differently (or available a la carte). Personally, I don't want leather or leatherette seats unless they're ventelated. But I also absolutely don't want a sunroof. JBL audio would be nice too, but again I'm 100% opposed to sunroofs and don't want a lot of the other garbage that comes on the premium plus package. As is, my best match would probably be a base Camry and just upgrade the sound system aftermarket. But I'd like the option to get an XSE and just check the boxes I want for options.

Does it have the build quality of the ES though Kirk? I know it has less than half the body laser weld points for rigidity so I don’t see how the build quality could be as good. I doubt there’s much ever speaker rattles in ES with Mark Levinson.
"All the things I couldn't say as a Lexus salesman" 🤣
I have a 25 XSE. My biggest complaint is the paint. Mine is black and if I look at it wrong, it scratches. 1800 miles and I already have stone chips on the hood and a scratch on the door where I washed off bird poo. My fault for not getting paint protection film, but the paint seems really soft/thin. Only other thing is the center console lid. The padding is super thin and uncomfortable to rest my elbow on.

What else annoys you about it?
Much of this can be addressed by simply getting an LE model. As far as the "Alien sound," locate the speaker and fill it with spray foam, or wrap it with the best sound deadening material you can find. And my recommendation on subscriptions... Just say NO to subscriptions. My Camry wanted a subscription to continue using the remote start. So I bought an aftermarket plug and play remote start that works exactly like the factory unit. Ain't no way I'm paying for a subscription for something the car already does. Any feature that requires a subscription to keep working simply doesn't even exist on the car as far as I'm concerned. So when I'm weighing one car against another, if remote start requires a subscription,.. the car doesn't have remote start then. If the other car I'm considering has remote start that doesn't require a subscription,.. then THAT car has remote start, and so on. As I weigh out feature for feature, only the ones that don't require subscriptions actually exist. They can stuff their subscriptions up you know where. This subscription thing has got to stop. And we are the only ones that can stop it by not subscribing to it.

Yes! The Remote Connect feature of my 2023 Camry XSE V6 had to pay $80 yr. plus tax. after the 1 yr. trial as it is the only real Subscription you need since the others have little value. The Eye monitor recognition scanner would drive everyone up the wall plus goofy placement and design. The Infotainment screen is larger and upgraded but it is not always better. I like the idea of having a Fully Digital Instrument Cluster, however, it appears to have its setbacks just like the infotainment system. No improvement in the JBL "not premium" Sound system. The cheap plastic interior is for the birds still and the seat belt buckle banging against the panel just get a padded seat belt cover for the strap. No improvement to the Heads Up Display for Brightness, Colors, Positioning, and Resolution. Weak resolution for Backup Camera. Sorry, not the first time having to comment in one of Kirk's reviews, but I hate all Hybrids and EVs. I have a fully loaded Camry XSE 3.5L V6. I feel Toyota failed severely with its 9th Generation Camry since my perception is Toyota's new 2025 design is ugly inside and out. The 2 Positives are the fully digital instrument cluster display and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. I would take the Lexus ES-350 (V6) or 350 F-Sport (V6) over any Camry Hybrid model. If I had to buy a new 2025 Camry, definitely would not be the lowest Trim LE which is 100 percent garbage but the SE and XSE. The LE and XLE pretty much provide nothing so why get them. My 2023 Camry XSE V6 fully loaded MSRP $41,305. A 2025 Camry XSE Hybrid fully loaded MSRP is nearly $42,000 costing more than my wonderful V6. Toyota is just ripping everyone off these days. Believe the Mazda CX-5 and CX-50 are a better buy than any vehicle Toyota is placing on the market for 2025. Likely have to move up to the Lexus brand for a decent vehicle. Honda is doing rather bad, the 11th Gen. Civic is not doing so well in its reliability as expected and the Honda Accord might not see another year of production. In my 2023, got the Ottocast Picasou 2 Pro for wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto, add an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max inserted in the Picasou 2 Pro HDMI input and be amazed how your Infotainment Screen been Transformed to watch videos and no longer have limited Apps but Unlimited Apps. Also Picasou 2 Pro has an HDMI Output to connect external monitors, notebook, tablet, and for kids to watch stuff in the back seat. Get the Deja Vue Plus App ($30 mo.) watch Live TV, Live Sports any sport just name it does not matter where broadcast or blackout, Movies, TV shows complete seasons and episodes. Use your Smartphone for a Wi-Fi Hotspot then you don't need a SIM card.
Let me add my gripe here as well: The lowest trim, LE, has the best as mileage of all the Camry trims, because it has the taller tyres. But if I wanted the upgraded stereo with the extra speakers and subwoofer, I have to buy the 2 high trims, it's standard in the XSE, the highest trim - BUT!!!! The MPG goes down, because the tyres are the thinner wider ones!!! And, Toyota WILL NOT sell you the LE trim with the stereo even though I want that MPG. Ridiculous!!!!

@@webcomment8895 well, I have a 2022 Venza Limited and it still shuts off. Maybe they've fixed it since then?

@@user-oy4cz9uo3n It depends on the specific model. I think it requires TSS 3.0. Many new Toyotas still have TSS 2.5.
My 2020 doesn’t have that loud sound its super quite. Rented a 2025 SE for a week and that high pitch sound drove me crazy.

That sucks if it's one feature you need a work around is to get rid or turn that sound down
Speaker might be loose due to it being a Press Car...great takes though ....great reviews

I'm considering this or the new civic Hybrid.

Previous Gen Camry V6 owner. My biggest gripes are the car beeps at you each time the temperature js below 37F outside to drive cautiously (someone in Florida wouldn't catch that. REALLY ANNOYING for someone like me who lives up north where it's winter for half the year) and you can't adjust the interior temperature without turning the fan on first.

Most new cars today warn you when it gets cold enough for possible icy roads. My wife’s Hyundai does it as well as my Subaru. Not that big of a deal.

wow, the energy monitor looks way better on the small dash in my se
I believe the eye sensor will be fine-tuned and eventually become a detector for drunk or other distracted driving, and if positive will issue a warning that the car will be turned off. If it can be tuned for that purpose all vehicles will have it. The government mandate requires tech to stop operation by an impaired driver, this is one solution. I guess it's better than an in-car breathalyzer or other more intrusive way.

That is genuinely the worst idea ever. I'm only 23 and feel like a boomer. So much needless tech. Sat in the last gen as a rental and the most annoying thing was rear seats having weight sensors. Couldn't put anything back there without the car going off. Had a Honda Fit whose cameras told me to break over shadows and cars in the bends. Thankfully it dosent stop the car. Would have been in so many wrecks. This tech is so annoying, bothersome, intrusive, and unreliable.
This video was The Nitpicker's Guide to the Toyota Camry.
Do this w every press car you get for now on😉
Hope this generation has better panoramic moonroof since previous gen had issues and it cost a lot to repair
Thanks!

RE: "hybrid electric motor warning noise" I wonder if you can hook up a vag tool to adjust the speed that it will be turned off. 25 mph is definitely too high. I will like to set mine @ 12 mph if I ever buy one.

The alien sound on my 2018 Camry Hybrid is very reasonable and not loud at all. I'll have to pay attention at what speed it comes on at. I'm thinking it's like 10 mph and below. I really have to pay attention and have a window down to even hear it at all.

Just a warning that if you modify the pedestrian warning in anyway and you hit someone, you could face serious charges because they could say they couldn’t hear you (especially for the visually impaired).

@@tails300 You have your point but 25 mph is ridiculous .
I am planning to buy a camry, but I think I am buying the 2024. I like the style more than the new one, and I don't care about paying more for gas.
Those blinking sensors is ridiculous and the design of the instrument cluster cover is absolutely ridiculous. Who thought that 'Dome' design would look nice?
At the risk of some reddit style flame war.... I am inbetween this Xle, the Honda touring or the k-5. Each has their own issues but at the end of the day the costs are just too dang high. Would it cost significantly less without all the nanny state features? I think all that is need is backup cam and blind spot monitoring.
I will say the number of clicks needed to get back to the Toyota screen is completely an Android Auto implementation. In CarPlay there is a button in the corner that will show/hide the Toyota sidebar while CarPlay is running. Otherwise I agree with all these nitpicks from the perspective of the toyota crown, because it has the same interior and features.
Good info
How is the acceleration lag? I have a 2015 Camry SE and it sucks ass.
That’s the same software from Subaru’s eyesight. It’s awful. I always turn it off because it yells at you for EVERYTHING.
Door rattles with the bass just ruins my experience in a car.
a more realistic energy monitor would be nice instead of roblox looking graphics. i want to see the real model of the system with animated graphics
That wireless charger would be completely useless in AZ summers 😅 114 today. Lol
The only reason I won't be getting this car is for the subscriptions
"it's only 91 rn"
Might try some CommaAI technology to bypass all the nanny technology you get from Toyota.
