I rode this board with cartel x bindings at Whistler after riding Burton custom FV. I mainly just carve and like charging at high speeds and what a difference this board makes. Omg I love this board combined with Cartel X bindings. Don’t look else where if that’s also your way of riding. This review was spot on btw!!!

I just love your reviews and I know what you are saying is legit! I have been mulling over this board to replace my Capita Equalizer that is losing some of its flavor. I ride that in a 150 and I am so friggin happy they are offering this in a variety of sizes! I was wondering if I could get a beat on whether you think I should go with the 148 or the 151? I am 145lbs with size 9wmns and I am an advanced rider- freeride mostly. I think this is gonna push me over the edge on this buy. Thanks for the honest no BS reviews as always!

Just understand this has WAY more carbon in it than the Equilizer and is going to be stiffer. I'd say the 48 is the safe bet but the 51 will give you more edge hold if you really want to charge.

Hi, Avran! Love your reviews. I bought Ride Zero based on your review and it is my all-time favourite. I ride it on our small local hill and I am looking for a more aggressive mountain holiday board to add to my Zero. I need something to carve on the groomers, ride in the trees (Not in Japan, but there are forests in Sweden and Georgia :) ), and take some drops and side hits. I don't live in the mountains, so I am happy if I see 1 real powder day during the holiday. I just got rid of my Nitro Squash, which did not feel right. I hated its nose slapping when charging groomers and I had difficulties turning it in the trees. Probably I just did not figure out how to drive this swallowtail thing. :( Before that I had Salomon Derby, which was really nice, but I wanted something more aggressive. I know that those are sort of different, but based on your reviews I narrowed my choice down to Deepfake 159 and Korua Transition Finder 157 (maybe, also Rome StaleFish, but I like the all-black and all-white style of Ride and Korua). What would you advise? Or maybe something else, or in a different size? I am 5'8, 190 lbs, and my shoe size is 8.5. Riding for 20+ years, like going fast, getting into trees, and hitting the easiest features in the park :)

That being said i thoroughly enjoyed my last season on my 22/23 Amplid Surfari…I just stopped riding everything else I owned once I got on the Amplid…..i carve and that’s what i seemed to really gravitate to. I am looking at adding to the quiver this year. Deep fake or Souly grail?….that is the question. This is my quandary….totally appreciate any input you have!

I have both and the Souly Grail is a master carver. It's absolutely Everything Avran says it is in his review. My main problem was not being able to turn quickly. I was so used to ankle flexion turning, and the Souly Grail isn't having it. So when I hit the trees, I really struggled and had to throw my body weight to get those fast turns you need to maneuver in tight trees. It wasn't fun. So I bought the Deep Fake, which is a little more playful then the Amplid, but with similar characteristics. Couldn't be happier on the slopes.

Hey Avran, been riding the mercury 2024 for abt a week now and like it. I got it because even though I'm a hard charger at heart and love straightlining chutes, riding out chop, and laying a trench, I wanted to get better at freestyle and switch. I've read every review about the deep fake thats on the internet and feel like its calling my name. I also have a Rossignol Sashimi that I take out on the deep days, but want something as a daily driver to charge hard and hit side hits with. I don't do rails/boxes but I like doing little ground tricks. Would you say I'm good sticking with the Merc or better off getting the deep fake?

Hey Avran. I'm torn about what size to get, maybe you can help me. I'm 5'10" 160lb, size 11US boots. I'd like to get the '59 but I'm worried about my boots hanging over when I'm carving, which is one of the reasons I'm interested in this board. Big fan of the park but I already have a park board so I'd probably use this one for more freeriding type stuff - the occasional large jump, fast carving groomers/off-piste, tons of side hits, ect. If I do go wide I'm thinking the '61W would be nice for stability but I'm worried I might not be heavy enough to get the most out of it. '57W is also an option but then I start to worry if its too short for the high speeds and big air landings (30ft and up). Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

I'm looking for a freeride deck to ad to my quiver. Coming from a 154 Korua Transition Finder (the older one) and searching for something more damp and stable at higher speeds. I love my tranny finder in good conditions, for the way that it turns and its energy, but I find it hard to keep up with skiers when the corduroy is gone and conditions aren't that great. I'm 6 foot, 180lbs (maybe a little to much for the korua), us 10 with one slightly bad knee. I only get to ride one or two weeks a year in Europe, so I don't get the chance to ride in pow that often and have to stay on groomers 90% of the time. Do you think a 157w DF would be a good choice? Also thinking of something like a K2 Passport or an amplid (pretty expensive though). Any advice?

I'm coming from an Amplid Souly Grail and wanted a board that could turn on a dime but could still carve and plow or skip through all the chunder. The Deep Fake is it, I absolutely love it. I'm also comparing it to my 2021 Nidecker Megalight and I feel so much more stable on the Deep Fake, it's the best board I've ever ridden. A true quiver of one to rule them all. I'm addicted to it.

Hi Avran, Blew the edge out on my alchemist today and am wondering if this would be a good replacement. I’m 175 with a 9.5 boot. Looking for something a little bit more front footed and stiff than the alchemist, mine felt like it would buckle just outside of the front insert on big drops. Could have been a sizing issue, I was on the 157.

I'm torn between this and the Berzerker both 157W. The new slimwall tech seems cool but the Berzerker sounds like it's more stiff with maybe better pop and more camber... Is this like a toned down/more approachable Berzerker with a slimwall or does it ride pretty close to it? My riding style is big cliff drops, natural hits, flips/spins, charging fast, trees, straight lines, chutes etc. usually in the whistler area. I am worried the Deep Fake is less stiff and a compromise for these more demanding situations compared to the tried and true Berzerker but that slimwall sounds interesting. What do you think between these two?

What makes me unsure ist the board width of the 161w (26,3mm) and the 10,6m radius. Speed and stability seem to be great, I want this, but I am also considering maneuvrability and turning. Second board is a 154 Rome National. Looking for a damp, hard charger w/ great edge hold that feels stable at speeds, floats decent enough in up to 18 inches of snow, & will serve me well in steep terrain. Will the Deep Fake fit the bill? If so, what size do you recommend? Have had heaps of fun on my Ride DH2 161W and currently the Superpig 154 @ 190-200lb Size 10-10.5 ... the Superpig is like a Sidewinder-Missle, just its happy at about 60% the speed i was going on the DH2, allthough its way faster edge to edge, and easier to generate grip. I'm missing boosting over rollers and going mach9 (don't quite do or need mach10), but would like to retain that lightning response and turninitiation, but don't want to eat shit all the time if i don't stick the landing 100%, also still like having fun on smaller sidehits ...
